Volume 8! No update today but I bring you art to tide you over haha.

The Ripper arc concludes and we've seen the first real major antagonist for the first time, woohoo!

This time was less a study and more just me running in circles and kicking my feetsies while drawing @ratblooded 's Alexia (Stand in for Louis Moriarty) and Irene/Bonde. And yes I may have rearranged the panels but that was to make sure they fit my document, hush it's no big deal.

I just had SO much fun and I love these murder siblings, both my own and the ones in the manga. (Also my Irene with short hair is just... too pretty for my little gay heart)

Let's see let's see, what did I learn this time? Oh yeah! Manga characters need to see a CHIROPRACTOR! Especially the last panel- his back is so stiff I'm getting achy about it. Not to mention the body language doesn't at all say "I'm undercover snooping in a dangerous neighborhood" either.

In better news, I'm actually really genuinely starting to get the hang of the clothing folds, and you can tell since I'm drifting further from the source poses and having to Improvise ✨

Kudos again to @ratblooded for letting me borrow Alexia and James to stand in for Louis and Albert, i love them so much. Do not be fooled by their little round faces though- there is murder in those eyes lololol

Something struck me as I was reading the final book of the Cthulhu Casebooks by James Lovegrove, "The HighGate Horrors". It's less of a fourth book and more of a collection of stories from the same universe, but I digress.

What struck me was that every brilliant mind in the saga was aligned with a different Elder God. Sherlock himself with Cthulhu, Mycroft with Dagon, Moriarty with Nyarlathotep, and Irene Adler wth the goddess Shub-Niggurath. This then promptly spiralled into me wanting a Cthulhu mythos themed original tarot deck and I kind of got carried away, haha!

The lass in number 9 belongs to my good friend @fedorasquidwithglasses , and i drew a bunch of others to round out the major arcana but I figured these six were the best to post. Those extras are for me and my besties alone lol (love you guys)

More Commission work for @n1ten1ght for a school project of theirs!

They took their TTRPG character, Lumi, and wanted to use her for a concept movie project for their degree. They needed: An action shot and some character designs.

Oh! And bonus compilations of Lumi and her bestie Faye from the art I'd already drawn.

Altogether it came out to about $120, for those interested in seeing how far your money can go. I'm really proud of these!

Like you CAN NOT leave the series like that and then disappear! I mean I'm grateful I'm here four years into his hiatus and not sooner but I'm already chomping at the bit for more. We've still got the Valley of Fear and His Last Bow at least to cover, not to mention how the end of the world has only just begun!

In other news I am going to chewing on this universe for the next few months haha. It's just so GOOD! The VIBES are IMPECCABLE!!!!

Hooray! More Redraws!

Took me a while to get to these, mostly because I was hesitant to work with Irene. But given I’m scheming to do her story here soon, I figured some fun redraws would be a good way to flex her design.

And let me begin by saying- GOOD GOOGLY MOOGLY WHAT IS WITH HER BOOBS IN THE ORIGINAL MANGA!? Most of the time they’re fine, if a bit large, and then sometimes it’s just like- WHAT!!!!

Anyway I think I did a good job with them.

Every time I do these panel redraws, I feel like I learn something new about crosshatching and contrast and texture. I'm actually starting to learn more about clothing folds! Volume 4 was WILD yall.

I need you all to understand the first scene, the one with the Prof in the dining car, is so gay. Like I get it now! I get why fans of this manga ship Holmes and Moriarty! There is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY half of their interactions are straight.

We'll see how far that carries over into my redraws lol.

Regardless- just finished volume 5 and Irene Adler is here! I can't wait to play more with her design, especially since I need to practice/stress test it for next year's mini comic.

So when I say "Sign of the Nine is an acid trip" i am being completely honest. It's literally cases interspersed with mummy-fueled hallucination trips and it's terrifying. The way it's building up to this incredibly earth-shaking conclusion while simultaneously being the goofiest shit has me oscillating between rolling my eyes and hyperventilating.

Disclaimer: I read this fucker in march and kept forgetting to post while moving so apologies lol

Behold! Recent commission work for my good friend Owl of their OC Kikuo. He's a Boku No Hero Academia character but they've used him for Demon Slayer aus as well.

Guess what book I got for christmas!!! I managed to keep myself from binge-reading it right away for, about a week lol.

Regardless- for the love of all things fun go read the Warlock Holmes series. The amount of world building and magic lore they just casually drop has me in a panicking tizzy. It’s building up to something MASSIVE and I’m freaking out!!!

Ironically one of my good friends found the fact Holmes became a pseudo-furry the most delightful part lol

The coolest concept that Warlock Holmes introduced was the idea of soul swords.

Each person has one and each sword has a name, saying the name summons the blade, and it is a manifestation of an individual's wrath and anger.

"Why is Holmes' so large?" 250 years of Moriarty's bullshit

"Why is Watson's so small?" Fuckin' beats me he should be more angry I swear to god-

Doctor John H Watson is a god damn bisexual disaster, even in Warlock Holmes' world. Pretty women show up and his brain shuts off. Irene Adler literally threatens him and first chance he gets he kisses her and gets his ass poisoned.

Also canon Watmes kiss that promptly got John thrown out of his body into the aether for the win!!! (Least romantic thing in the world but also i'm love)

I am BACK! It took me literally all of January to get my hands on Volume 3 but I GOT IT. And so, to you, I bring more panel redraws/manga studies.

Surprisingly this time I found myself paying a lot more attention to clothing folds and contrast, making sure everything stood out from everything else. In fact- with the first ones featuring Sherlock I actually made his jacket WAY too big because the folds were too loose, it was so weird!

When showing these to friends, @blobbei-art noted that while maybe I didn’t capture the same expressions as the originals, mine were more expressive in their own way. That made me smile, thank you Blobe

Also, the lovely young lady taking Louis’ place is Alexia, belonging to @ratblooded, i love her so much.

Okay because it’s not obvious- this is for the Frogwares game “Sherlock Holmes The Awakened”. Basically- a cosmic horror/cthluhu centric mystery starring Holmes and Watson! It’s fantastic and these doodles are actually based on my experience playing the game! In a few of these, John is my friends who joined me on a call to watch! It was great I had so much fun.

Now to clarify the first doodle- the reason I swapped the name to “AJ Raffles” is by the fact that like, Sherlock Holmes as a fictional character cannot exist if he’s a real person! It’s just a little thing that made me laugh lol.

Seriously though- this game was great I loved every minute. If you’re worried about Frogwares bugginess, don’t be, the remake is really easy to play and I had a great time.
