The Poisoner is a gothic dark romance set in Victorian-era London. This story has the perfect blend of dark academia, gritty characters, dark humor, intoxicating romance, and an immaculate plot. The author has outdone herself with this debut novel, which sinks its teeth into the hearts of dark romance lovers and leaves us yearning for more.
Reeling from the untimely death of her beloved father Alina finds herself back in London after a year of self-isolation in her country home, returning to pick up the pieces of her life. Alina is a talented botanist who runs her father’s apothecary business and moonlights as a poisoner. She supplies women with deadly remedies to relieve them from the violent men who plague their lives. But when Alina catches the eye of a lethal creature, nothing in her arsenal of deadly mixtures and toxins can stop a vampire ready to hunt.
Silas is wicked, dangerous and completely obsessed with his prey. the longer he hunts Alina the more his infatuation grows. Especially when he learns his prey has claws of their own and a wild curiosity that outweighs any fear she has him towards. As their game of cat and mouse progresses that two develop a relationship unlike anything either has experienced. Silas finds himself bargaining with Alina to feed her curiosity while he just feeds.
When Alina’s deadly side hustle earns her the attention of more than just one vampire, her safety hangs in the balance and things become increasingly dangerous for our protagonist the more she learns about her creature.
This book is filled with violence, se*ual acts, twisted passion, and moral ambiguity. This book is a dark gothic romance that contains many triggers and scenes that some readers may find disturbing.
