The Conditions of Will By: Jessa Hastings 

The Conditions of Will, explores dysfunctional family relationships and how families with unresolved trauma reckon with grief when the patriarch of the family passes. 

Georgia Carter has been estranged from most of her family members since she was banished as a teenager and sent to a boarding school overseas. The distance she has kept between them has done nothing to repair her relationship with them. When her father's sudden death brings her back home, she is forced to confront her past.

Georgia, a human lie detector who has made a career in reading people, uses her talents to protect herself and to unearth the truth that people are desperate to hide. Tensions rise, and family secrets are exposed. 

But when an unexpected guest is thrown into the mix, the magnetic pull between Georgia and Sam is catastrophic and threatens the only familial relationship she cares for.

This story is filled with secret yearning, dramatic family dynamics, and deeply traumatic moments. This is the type of story that stays with you long after reading. Fans of magnolia parks, and dramatic stories will enjoy this book.

Revolve By: Bal Khabra

Bal Kahbra delivers a delicious Hockey romance with complex characters and a plot that kept me invested all the way to the end.

Revolve, the third book in the Off the Ice series, follows Dylan, a playboy with a reputation on and off the ice. And Sierra, a talented figure skater recovering from a traumatic injury that nearly took her life. In the aftermath of Sierra’s injury, she loses her figure skating partner and is desperate to find a new one. Dylan’s reckless behavior off the ice results in serious consequences that leave his future in a precarious state.

Sierra and Dylan find that working together is the only way for either to achieve their dreams. But sparks fly when Dylan is pulled towards Sierra’s fiery personality, and Sierra falls for Dylan’s confidence and charm.

Khabra delicately explores PTSD, anxiety, and toxic family dynamics, and how these issues affect the lives of many people and prevent them from pursuing the things they love most.

Overall, Revolve is a fun read that balances difficult topics with a romance that feels earned.

The Poisoner By: I. V. Ophelia 

The Poisoner is a gothic dark romance set in Victorian-era London. This story has the perfect blend of dark academia, gritty characters, dark humor, intoxicating romance, and an immaculate plot. The author has outdone herself with this debut novel, which sinks its teeth into the hearts of dark romance lovers and leaves us yearning for more.

Reeling from the untimely death of her beloved father Alina finds herself back in London after a year of self-isolation in her country home, returning to pick up the pieces of her life. Alina is a talented botanist who runs her father’s apothecary business and moonlights as a poisoner. She supplies women with deadly remedies to relieve them from the violent men who plague their lives. But when Alina catches the eye of a lethal creature, nothing in her arsenal of deadly mixtures and toxins can stop a vampire ready to hunt.

Silas is wicked, dangerous and completely obsessed with his prey. the longer he hunts Alina the more his infatuation grows. Especially when he learns his prey has claws of their own and a wild curiosity that outweighs any fear she has him towards. As their game of cat and mouse progresses that two develop a relationship unlike anything either has experienced. Silas finds himself bargaining with Alina to feed her curiosity while he just feeds. 

When Alina’s deadly side hustle earns her the attention of more than just one vampire, her safety hangs in the balance and things become increasingly dangerous for our protagonist the more she learns about her creature. 

This book is filled with violence, se*ual acts, twisted passion, and moral ambiguity. This book is a dark gothic romance that contains many triggers and scenes that some readers may find disturbing.
