That was a last minute editorial retcon. Don’t worry it was undone, only about three decades later.
This was the beginning of the downfall of Polaris they decided she wouldn’t be Magneto’s daughter and that she would only be Alex’s doormat for decades.
Hate on Austen all you want he wrote a better Polaris than Claremont ever will.
Okay fandom, we only have to wait 30 decades and the Maximoff’s retcon will be undone too, anyone want a drink?
