I desperately want to get down to 150lbs. So much has changed, and I just want to make myself happy and move on with my life. I lost weight once before, and I can do it again.
Quick recap of my life since I last blogged my health/weight loss:
I moved due to my parents' separation and started at a new community college, and am currently looking to transfer to a four year school. I gained about 10 pounds back since august and I am currently 185 pounds, despite the fact that I promised myself I would never get to weight in my life ever again. I don't work out at all anymore, so even though I gained 10 pounds, I suspect I gained a lot more in fat since I definitely lost muscle.
I recently met someone and I have been dating him for almost 6 weeks now. He's extremely fit, and I have no clue what he sees in me, but I want to lose weight and look nice for him, and feel confident and sexy around him. More importantly, I want to feel confident for myself.
I want to address some issues I've been facing. I've been extremely stressed the last few months because of school and my parents. Also my dad is a diabetic with hormone problems so his mood swings are unpredictable and mentally damaging to me. I physically cannot handle living with my dad and my brother anymore. I can't handle feeling like shit all the time. I can't wait to move out because when I do, I will live by myself in an apartment close to campus, most likely with my cat, with my biggest worries being whether I remembered to buy cat food and my grades.
The only person who will be buying my food is ME. The only person who will be around me is ME. I will get an adequate amount of sleep and all of my time spent at home will be me  time. My stress levels will go down significantly, and I suspect my weight will too, as my health increases.
However, I cannot rely on that, and I can't let myself go while waiting for that day to come, Â and I especially need to learn to deal with my self earlier on, because life will always have obstacles, and if I let them dominate my choices in distressed times, I will never be happy.
My first goal is to get my digestive system back on track. Let's be real here, when you don't eat the right food, whether you like it or not, you become constipated. Biggest problem it may cause is the sight and feel of a bloated tummy. Depending on how severe it is, the size of your tummy may vary.Â
Ways to get rid of bloating and constipation:
-drinking lots and LOTS of water throughout the day (sometimes, you're just to damn busy to drink your goddamn H2O). Doing so helps prevent and avoid water retention, and helps your bowel movement, which reduces the appearance of a belly.
-Eating fruits and vegetables (when you're too busy, you grab what you can get, and sometimes, more often than not, it's crap)
-Reduce salt intake in order to reduce water retention
-reduce carbs and sugar. Note I said reduce, not avoid. It is nearly impossible to go cold turkey without shortly falling off the wagon. It's not possible, but incredibly difficult. It takes time to train the mind and the body to be less dependent on these substances, alas, we will always require at least a small amount; it is unavoidable.Â
Hydration has been an issue for me, and has affected not only my digestion and bowel movements, but my skin as well. I don't doubt that lack of hydration played into cravings which helped those 10 pounds creep back on me. I am trying my best to drink as much as I possibly can, when I can.Â
My short term goal right now, it to clear my irrigation system. Tomorrow will be spent drinking lots of fluids and eating lots of water and fiber based foods, like tomatoes, cucumbers, apples, etc. I am also considering doing a baking soda colon cleanse to help speed up the process. I heard it's as effective as the salt water flush, but not as disgusting going down.Â
My next short term goal will be to get to 179lbs as my weight. To get and to stay under 180.Â
My biggest goal at this point is to lose a little weight in the next two months in time for my friend's 21st birthday party. I really want to wear a nice dress, preferably form-fitting. I have already accepted the fact that I will have to wear shape-wear more likely than not, depending on the dress. Nothing to be ashamed of, and it gives me more variety when it comes to choosing dresses.Â
I guess in short, these are my goals:
-Drink more water; 1-2 gallons a day.
-Work out at least once a week for a start
-have half of what I eat be fruits and vegetables
-Clear my digestive system
Fairly simple goals. Once I reach them and become accustomed to my new habits (in about a month or so), I will make more changes, depending on how well I adapt. Slow and steady wins the race :)
