there's something to everyone loving reputation now, the album about fame almost killing taylor, but hating showgirl, the album about basking in the fullness of the life that you made for yourself

the Clean version of Honey is much better! (i only listen to the clean version of the album)
It's great that you have a work around anon, but personally I can still hear the vitriol when she says 'chick' instead of bitch. I really don't mind cussing, and think it's a shame artists need to censor themselves for radio play, (one of my favorite lines from life of a showgirl is 'and all the headshots on the walls of dance hall are of the bitches who wish I hurry up and die, but I'm immortal now baby dolls, I couldn't if I tried.')
I just think it's strange for a woman who felt the need to rewrite better than revenge to later call a girl in the mindset she had been in at the time of the OG version a bitch.
This isn't even my main qualm with honey, my main one is that by the time you reach the end of the album you've already heard three songs about the exact same thing. It doesn't bring much to the table in terms of overarching album themes, storytelling, and when listening I find myself wishing it was a bonus track released later so it could've had more time to bake. It could cut so deep, but it doesn't have teeth.
Do you have any skips on showgirl? And if so, how many?

i’m so curious, put which the life of a showgirl track is currently stuck in your head in the tags
One of my favorite visuals of this era because it just encapsulates the vibes so well.
After the glitz and the glamour, you clamour to the phone calling home.
Spoilers for The Life of a Showgirl press
I really think at least one of the tracks on Life of a showgirl will be about that feeling when you wrap up your three hour show and crash into the ice bath. Mainly because the main cover is her in said ice bath.
Very she fell through the ice and came out alive coded imo
GIRL WHY DO I FEEL LIKE I JUST GOT ENGAGED SKDKGKSKH
Tortured poets department was an exorcism, life of a showgirl is a christening.
Look she's even in the water!

I'm unprepared for how sad eldest daughter may be. In the podcast she talked about how this year was the year of upgrading parents so they live to be 184, meaning her family was possibly going through a health scare towards the end of the tour.
All this to say, my bet is that it'll probably be about the responsibility to care for ailing parents as their legacy of being the matriarch looms in front of you, waiting to be inherited.

The door being in the middle of the abyss, with sparks glittering through seems very intentional and symbolic.
She's out of the seemingly endless darkness that was being a tortured poet and is entering (or perhaps returning) to the blinding lights of being a showgirl.
I'm so conflicted, life of a showgirl seems so clarabow lucky one TLGAD, name wise, but is so 1989 TV colors wise.
