“You look beautiful in this light...”
via weheartit
Am I just looking in the wrong direction?
Brought it to the light, but I’m still in the dark about things...
*Romantically passes you the blunt*.
People who experience depression as a reality need to bask in it at times. Our community constantly medicates- "stop being sad- stop isolating yourself"- but what if sadness is when someone feels most like themselves? That's how people can identify. Depression is a relationship and a coding. What if you looked at a happy person and said - "you need to be more balanced- just try and be sad for a little while. Ok? Think about sad things! You can do it."
This is incorrect. Instead, we should say, "how do you feel?" Or "how do you wish you were feeling? Is there anything I can do to help you feel that way?"
Feelings are seasonal and appropriate. It's not always that 'isolated people' feel most alone when they isolate. The problem is that they feel alone when they aren't isolated. It's when you tell someone they're not supposed to feel that way...and that they have a great life....and why do they feel that way anyway?
People feel isolated when they're not
given the independence and right to feel. There's no way to accurately simplify mental illness, but maybe we should just trying to stop assuming what's best for everyone.
