An original story inspired by classic fairy tales and Slavic folklore.

In the northern kingdom of Pozimia, winter is treacherous, the gods meddlesome and the monsters are not always what they seem. Once upon a time, a young woman was raised to be a dutiful princess for her father, whom she believed to be a benevolent emperor. Her adopted brother, born with protective magic, was raised to be a killer by that same emperor. When revolution begins in the kingdom and the brother is cursed, they must survive their new reality and face the truth about their past. They must also learn the difference between who they were raised to be and who they want to be.

✷The Faceless Visitor✷

Marzanna, the Godess of Winter and Death, and Licho, creature representing misfortune, as one being. It's wearing kraboszka - type of masks in rituals honouring the dead in slavic cultures. It is wearing traditional folk clothes from Opoczno/Świętokrzyskie region of Poland with typical pasiak - woollen, striped apron, sometimes used as a coat.

The pagan creature is juxtaposed with a tree decorated in rosaries, sacred hearts, shrines and pictures of Black Madonna of Częstochowa. Sights like that are common is Slavic countries, roadside shrines, shrines mounted onto the trees, crosses by the road or in the fields decorated with flowers and colourful ribbons. Christian amulets that sometimes mark a holy place or object or a place where someone lost their life.

Wisptober Day 5 - (Door)frame

"The lighthouse keeper found an open doorframe deep down in his cellar. It let him out into strange, still waters that did not look like the sea he had left behind at all." Haunted/strange sea and bodies of water are just some of my favourite themes so I am glad to add more to my collection.XD On a side note, Tomorrow I am leaving for a week for my wedding anniversary!:D I MIGHT post during that time but I might end up just taking it as a true vacation. I promise I will catch up once home! I am really having a good time this year doing this challenge so I hope I can do it fully!:D

Long before the introduction of color film, a Russian chemist and photographer named Sergey Prokudin-Gorsky used an innovative technique. He took three individual black and white photos, each through a colored filter (red, green, and blue), to create fully colored, high-quality pictures. The photo of this woman, taken by him, is around 107 years old!

An interesting thing about this seems to be that it would’ve been really difficult to reconstruct these images without digital technology. Although Prokudin-Gorskii photographed his images to be shown in colour, he apparently showed them on a projector - with three coloured filters on projector lenses combining to project a colour image.

A half-completed thought here: “there are many lenses for looking at the world, some of which we haven’t retained. Which other ones may we have forgotten? what can we recover?”
