This is becoming commonplace, an unfortunate restlessness in these hours of the evening.  This time, at least there is reason for it; discomfort with the pristine surroundings of the Elven realm, a mistrust of their hosts.  Coupled together, they make for a terrible nightâs sleep.  It is an issue all his own, for save the occasional wanderer in search of a drink, the rest of his lot hardly seemed fazed by the situation at all, perhaps too caught up in the luxuries afforded to them to worry about such matters.  Thatâs fine, of course.  Let them enjoy themselves, as they clearly are some distance away, but he will have no part of it.  He cannot.  And besides, he has found a particularly pleasant spot to occupy for a while, and it does seem a shame to relinquish it now.  So quiet, so peaceful , but such things rarely last. Among the excited hollers of familiar voices, another sound catches his attention, the scuff of boots against the polished stone floor; too nonchalant to be a threat, too unrefined  to be anything but a straggler venturing away from the elation down the way.Â
Initially, he assumes theyâll pass, but as the noise grows nearer expectations change, and heâs left waiting for the inevitable question, commentary, or the like. Â Such was not the case. Â In that fleeting second of a first touch, he realized his error. Â This was not just a wanderer, but one seeking his company, if only for the moment. Â Ah, and not just any one, but his. Â There is no mistaking that, as only three of the thirteen in his company would chance such a thing. Â And of those three, two were likely to ask beforehand.Â
Tired eyes flutter to a slow blink, his head tipping into the affections paid, against the fingers carding through his hair, twisting and toying and scraping blunt nails lightly against his scalp. So simple it is, yet its effect is immeasurable, displayed in a slow breath slipping between his lips as he leans into the form at his back. Relaxed and entirely content, and all it took was the coveted caress of a dwarf so revered. No surprise there, really. That had been true for quite some time now. âI was beginning to wonder when you might be along.âÂ
