This pre-show talk with Felix Barett and Maxine Doyle was moderated by academic and immersive specialist Josephine Machon about the making of The Drowned Man, and took place in Studio 3 prior to the Sunday show. After her initial conversation and questions, she opened the Q&A to the audience. Here is the transcript of their discussion. (There are some spoilers for the set, performers, and scenes used in The Drowned Man, Sleep No More, and Masque of the Red Death).

I think maybe the best acting is just like being a good human being.

The best human beings I know show respect and consideration for everyone. They show forgiveness and they understand that they will NEVER understand the full capacity of what it is to be that person. They do not judge, they only attempt to make the situation.

But we're always told in acting to know every last bit about our character, and why they do the things they do. What if you left a little bit of that to chance? You had enough respect for the character to know that you will NEVER know their full story, and thus didn't think about some of the deeper motivations, just in case there was something you missed.
