sendak is capable of genuinely smiling in a way that doesn’t look like he’s about to try and kill your pet dog. he doesn’t do this often, not even with friends or lovers– not really on purpose, honestly, just because he… doesn’t. when he does smile, it’s soft and lopsided and he has a single dimple on the side of his mouth that tugs up higher than the other. finds his own smile embarrassing and when he catches himself doing it he will immediately follow it with a scowl.
writes in a coded journal of his frequently and will often sketch between entries. has a loose, vague and messy art style, but he’s obviously been doing it for a while. manually writes his journals in ancient imperial galran (basically the equiv to old latin, just a lot older) in a coding (on a tablet) that renders it untranslatable. you’re probably not going to know the specific dialect unless you’ve specifically studied it.
also builds dossiers on every person he meets and will interact with more than once. includes a list of potential physical and mental weaknesses. will also jot down what they enjoy and how to best appeal to them. (does the same thing but for species as well.)
in his sleep, he has a tendency to curl up and hold onto the nearest thing. this sounds cute, but he also can and will bite at the same time. in his sleep. it’s just reflex ok. ): (he usually just smothers his face into a pillow and sometimes will just slobber all over it because he was trying to fucking eat it. he is not a graceful sleeper.) he also snores. it sounds like angry growling.
loves trying different types of foods but doesn’t often get the chance and will only indulge himself when he’s off work– ooor if he finds a dish of a culture he’s about the destroy / dismantle / subjugate particularly appealing. has a few recipes from god knows where written down in his journal somewhere.
he’s an extreme misanthrope and a lot of his ideology is based solely off the fact that he believes people to be corrupt at their cores, and that anyone would stab you in the back if they had to (leads to predictable trust issues). authoritarianism is the superior alternative to chaos (in his eyes).
