Hi! I’m Laura, a 22-year-old Brit. I’ve been a follower of the studyblr community for years and have been contemplating posting myself for almost as long

I’ve had a few years away from formal education due to a tough period with my mental health, but I’ll be starting a BA in Ancient Languages this September!

Most of my time since finishing high school has been spent on language study, I love to learn new bits and pieces of just about anything

The languages I’ve studied, in roughly order of competence, are: 🇫🇷🇪🇸🇰🇷🇧🇷🇮🇹🇨🇳🇳🇱🇯🇵🇩🇪🇹🇷🇦🇩🇭🇺🇯🇴

I also just love to learn in general, you can usually find me studying some random topic that I’ve decided I need to know everything about

My other interests are reading, cooking, films, music, galleries, museums, walks, sport (football, tennis, cricket, f1!)

My idea for this blog is for it to be part study diary, part resource archive - but mainly just something to keep me accountable

I’m always open to chatting and making friends, I’d love to meet likeminded people here 💛

July 17th, 2026. Friday. || I DID SO MUCH!!!!

WHEW! I really locked in today. I worked from 7am to 9pm, just sitting at my desk and taking really occasional breaks for a few minutes. Not sure how I was able to accomplish that. But, really happy I did! Now I'm significantly caught up on school!!! :D

What I accomplished:

Studied the entire week 4 of biostats

Studied the entire week 5 of biostats

Completed about 50 questions for problem set 2 biostats

Completed about 50 questions for biostats midterm

Died after all that

incredibly unmotivated but still going forward. i have a big and difficult exam that has been destroying me for a whole month now even though i actually like the subject. i'm now at the stage of "making notes of every small thing i can think of based on past exams" and i'm scrambling to get done before saturday to have 2 full days of revision.

i also went to the beach again, made some spreads (not as many as i thought), studied with my bf and cousin some more, talked to friends and my sister who is coming back home tomorrow (!), went shopping and found some really nice deals. i wasn't feeling too well earlier in the week but my bf helped me through that.

A part of me is gnawling at my walls, exclusively reading non-fiction and feeling academically unchallenged. I want to return to being a student, maybe another degree or a different master, but I don't think my parents would appreciate that. Why are LL.Ms so expensive?

Applying and waiting for admission decision for my master’s program is bananas , so I’ve been spending a lot of time at the library this summer. I love it here so much and it really helps me with focusing in on my studies. My Chinese is improving every day and it’s really cool to see my progress.

Tackled another huge topic. The ones striked are already written in another book, so no extra labour.Resigning early for today because apparently I've got myself a huge knot in my trapezius so it's painful to sit for long hours.

30. 06. 2026 - i finished all my exams today. yay! and my new journals from muji just arrived, too. who would have thought life could be so wonderful?

friday | may 15

rereading frankenstein as a real-life scientist instead of a high schooler is slightly alarming because victor and i have a similar approach to work-life balance in the chemistry lab.

I skipped a meeting bc by 5am I was still struggling to fall asleep. I know I go to class sometimes with only 1-2 hours in, but there's something very bitter about not needing to commute or wake up early (meeting was online) but still not getting enough sleep. I just said fuck it then - which meant spending roughly 11h in bed but only 4h asleep.

Insomnia sucks :) even more so after a day spent not-studying, which gives me anxiety, which results in insomnia, which makes the next day suck even more.

I didn't study at all today either. I don't even know what I spent the whole day on. Thinking about studying, maybe? It certainly didn't leave my mind, but once more I didn't do anything about it. Why am I like this

₊˚⊹♡ Study Diary #003 ♡⊹˚₊

Today’s study session felt a little different, and honestly, I think I needed that. (˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶)

✿ My mom helped me review several developmental psychology concepts, and explaining them out loud made everything feel much clearer.

✿ Later, I met up with a friend… which somehow turned into another Book Buying Therapy session. 📚♡ Needless to say, I came home with even more psychology books.

✿ Once I got back, I kept reviewing by speaking everything aloud.

✿ I practiced active recall, writing down every concept I could remember before checking my notes. It’s challenging, but it’s one of the study methods that makes me feel like I’m actually learning instead of just rereading.

✿ Reviewed my flashcards and made a few new ones for tomorrow.

✿ Ended the day with a walk with my dog, then curled up with a good book before bed. Honestly… I can’t think of a better way to finish a study day. 🐾📖♡

Some days don’t feel incredibly productive while you’re living them, but looking back, they’re made of lots of small steps. And I guess that’s how real progress happens. 🌱
