did rocky and/or adrian “design” grace’s eridian form, and if so was the heart-shaped carapace with the aroace flag colours done purposefully on their part or was it a happy accident? his design is literally perfect btw no notes 10/10 <3<3

Rocky was in charge of the project, Adrian handled legality and logs. They grew the body from the healthiest samples they could get. The dud claw was an accident, but they didn't have the time to regrow it or "fix" it.

The colours and the shape were up to the stars. Happy little accidents.

Even though Eridians don't dream, do you think a conscious-transferred Grace would have some human traits still? Like, I imagine that his sleep is pretty deep, but he still will respond to LOUD noises and has some dreams. His body was grown in a tube and probably tinkered with to fit his human consciousness, after all.

Could also include, like, a stupidly high pain tolerance. Ryland is used to being squishy human and having many bruises all the time. Minor injury to him is nothing, but Eridians are touch as nails. If they get a minor break in the carapace, they freak the freak out because they *don't* get little cuts or things often.

Eridian Sleeping is definitely new for a long time for him

Hey if I may ask, is something wrong with Grace's fifth leg? The one he uses as a tail? (Maybe you've even already answered it) Or does he like to use it to express his emotions?

Thank you for asking! So in the PHM movie - behind the scenes - they refer to Rocky's "weird leg" as his "goat leg" (I don't know why). It's the one he uses in a "scorpion tail" position the one time he's briefly threatened (?) by Grace

It doesn't open into a proper "claw" at the end the way his "normal hands" do, but it is functional!

From the fanon perspective, I like the reading that this is Rocky's unique deformity. Maybe having 5 identical claws is considered the "norm", but he's more than capable of being the engineering mechanical genius that he is with 4 "normal" claws. I've also seen a reading that this is the "designated attack claw".

So! In the Eridian Heart AU,

Rocky has a deformed claw because he was just born like that.

Adrian has a deformed claw (theirs is curly and I totally don't keep forgetting to draw it that way on occasion) because they were just born like that.

Grace's new body happened to have one "dud" claw and it was kinda made on a short notice so they didn't have time to remake it. Aka he was just "born" like that.

Grace poses the least threat of the 3 with his "attack claw", but it's okay, it's not like he will ever need to use it to defend himself, or find himself threatened. ^u^

...On a brighter note he is quite fond of wagging it!

I've been sitting on an Eridian Grace AU idea for a bit and then felt like it was time to make it, so here it is. I've got plans for some adventures that follow this transition for Grace as he adapts to his new body and new life.

And yes, this is a Grocky (Grockdrian) story.
