No its okay its fine explain to me why out of ALL of the female characters in this show, both ones with canon love interests and not, you decided that the only one who has ever had love interests of multiple genders is a lesbian. Why her specifically?

Is it because she's an angry tough girl and you think that makes her butch? Because your brain cannot fathom women having masculine traits unless they're butch? Because you see a girl with anger and commitment issues and just decide to slot her into the mean man hating lesbian trope?

No lets not unpack how in MyStreet we first learn about her commitment issues because of her relationship WITH A MAN. Let's not address that the woman she dated is one of the few characters to call Katelyn on her shit, a trait shared primarily by Katelyn's other love interests, TWO MEN.

Listen normally I know fandom has a nasty problem of prioritizing men over women and its disgusting and misogyny. I think we should decenter men, and I absolutely respect if you want to decenter how much the men in Katenlyn's life impact her. It's fine if you want to focus on her female relationships, romantic or otherwise.

But you can do that without erasing parts of herself. Katelyn's sincere love for Jeffory is a part of her in every universe, and her begruding love of Travis is the same. Stop trying to remove parts of Katelyn's character you don't want to write and erasing her sexuality in the process. You're not more woke than the source material for doing that, you’re actually worse.

One of my best friends growing up was the daughter of a single mother and her mother started saying ‘boobs of steel’ instead of ‘balls of steel’ after escaping her abusive husband and the saying spread to my friend and I so when someone is very brave I think damn, they have boobs of steel. I actually like it a lot more than the original phrase because everyone has boobs (except for those who have had a radical mastectomy) and it calls to mind the image of someone in a shiny steel armor breastplate instead of two useless steel balls bouncing around, which is not very inspiring. Codpiece of steel, maybe but steel balls sound like a logistical nightmare.

oh man. so im finally getting back to working on my diaries rewrite that i havent touched for like a year. and while rereading my notes i got to the scene at the baby shower where zane apologizes for threatening to arrest her in public.

during the conversation he insinuates that he would kill her if she marries garroth through the whole “take care of my sister in law” thing. which obviously has the two implications of 1. the innocent and genuine. 2. the more likely threaten of murder.

but i like to imagine a secret third option.

3. the offer to start an affair with his sister in law

which of course has its own horrifying implications. but i would find it so funny if that was some miserable attempt at flirting. something something “we’ll still end up together even if you marry my goody two shoes brother.”
