New site is up! Let me know what you think! Been working on this site for about a month now, still got some bugs to figure out but 99% there! http://kevintg.com/
What piece of hardware/software has been the biggest help to you? Which hardware/software are looking to get next?
Hello all! This is the soundtrack for the ACT 1 portion of Nelo! Some of these songs are still needing some touch-ups, but they're "final" for now. I will update this playlist as new songs are added t

Q4 2017 Recap/News
Hello all! Updates have been slow but I’m still here! Over the past few months I’ve been working very hard on Nelo. It was released into Early Access on November 20th. Other than my day job at a game studio, this is my main project currently outside of work. I still have a handful of audio tweaking I need to do before I upload any of the music work on SoundCloud. In the meantime, feel free to check out the game here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/537000/Nelo/
A few months ago I put out a decent song to test the waters on making original music again that’s not video game related. It’s been around 6 years since I’ve done an album/EP release at all for anything personal, I want to jump back into it again. I’ll keep everyone up to date when that happens, I’m hoping to tackle it sometime early next year. You will find some work in progresses on my soundcloud uploaded from time to time to try to practice my skills more. During this time I’m in a few discussions with some people for collabs and releases. Nothing else to say about it though! https://soundcloud.com/loudcoremusic/put-you-down
For my birthday I got a pretty awesome gift from my girlfriend. I’ve been able to use it a good bit for Nelo’s soundtrack and it’s so much fun to play with when I’m no under too much crunch ;). I really want to write up a whole article on it when I get a chance because it’s a very fantastic piece of hardware. I’ve been able to make some very unique sounds with it and I’m still excited months later to keep making sounds on it.
I haven’t wrote any new “What I’ve Been Playing” articles for the past few months as I haven’t really played that many new games. I’ve mostly been playing Rainbow Six Siege and Forza Horizon 3 still when I have the time. I will start writing them again when I am playing newer games! Some people have asked why I stopped writing them, sorry about that!
There may be a few more updates to post before this year ends, if you want to keep up to date with my stuff more, be sure to follow my Twitter. https://twitter.com/LoudCoreMusic Hope everyone has a great Holiday Season and a Happy New Year!
Hello / / friends! I'm currently on the search for a new 61 Key MIDI + USB Controller. Any recommendations? <$500?

Hardware Review - Logitech MX Master 2S for Music Production
Hello all, I’m going to be doing some more hardware reviews to hopefully give an insight into improving your workflow and to hopefully give an alternative opinion as well as recommendations to working on music with new hardware. I picked up the well known Logitech MX Master 2S. My hopes were that it could speed up production by assigning some basic macros to the extra keys as well as using the extra scroll wheel to skim the playlist a lot more conveniently. You can assign all the keys and buttons to do whatever you want. I know this mouse isn’t exactly the best choice for music production when it comes to wanting to do macros, but I personally was looking for a good navigation mouse that was streamlined and comfortable.
There’s nothing here that’s really groundbreaking. It’s a mouse with 2 scroll wheels, some forward and back buttons, a scroll wheel that goes weightless if you flick it hard enough, and a gesture button where your thumb rests. For a GUI heavy DAW like FL studio, I feel this is a great tool for making things a bit faster. Here I show using the scroll wheels as well as the gesture button. The button can be tapped to do a single action, then you can hold it down and swipe to any direction to do another action. You can do key combination commands, windows commands, etc. You can also assign them per application. So if an application is open and fullscreen, it will give you a different set of commands than just your desktop.
Another feature is the software that works with this mouse is actually pretty great and lightweight. They also introduced a new feature to allow you to use more than one computer and go between monitors, incredibly similar to Synergy. I’m pretty picky with my mice, I’ve been using the same mouse since the Logitech G9x came out, a fantastic gaming mouse, but I’ve been wanting to just get into focusing improving my workflows. I’ve experimented using this mouse with Cubase and it seems to work! I think Cubase benefits more from keyboard shortcuts since its GUI is rather dated. I was able to pick this up for around $75 USD. I think for the seconds that I save on navigation of my DAW, will eventually pay for itself after a few years. I feel this is more of a luxury than a major improvement. I feel it is helpful though if you are trying to shave off a bit more time doing things you’d rather not be doing (like trying to look for a sample or instrument etc).
The mouse is definitely comfortable enough and I find myself actually wanting to use it more and more because of its comfort. It is a bit on the weighty side but I was able to get over it.
Beware there are some reports of this mouse not being very friendly with built in Bluetooth adapters or Macbooks. I can’t really test that for you right now, although it could have been for the previous version of this mouse.
Outside of music production, I was able to get a lot of use for it. Word documents, excel documents, photoshop, etc. It’s a very comfortable mouse for just browsing the web and navigating around. I’d say, if you’re in need of a new mouse, this is a great choice. Do you own this mouse? What are your thoughts?
What I’ve Been Playing - August 2017
Sonic Mania
What a fantastic game. I haven’t beaten this yet but wow. If you’re ever at all a fan of platformers, sonic, or the “Good ol’ days”, look no further. This game literally tickles every sense you had playing the game as a kid and definitely takes you back to being young. Absolutely fantastic. Great music, awesome levels, lots of replayability, just fabulous. Black Desert Online
What a grind this game is. Waifu Simulator is a Korean MMO with tons of grinding, good combat, boring missions, deep customization, and great music. As you can tell, I feel pretty mixed about it. I want to really get into this game but it seems a lot of the systems are too complicated and require you to drain more money and time into the game to do simple tasks. The quests are more boring than FF14. The combat is pretty much the only thing keeping me from playing this. Progression so far isn’t too bad but I can tell it’s slowing down. For $10, its worth trying, but I don’t think it’ll stick long for me. Destiny 2 Beta
I cannot believe how impressed I am with this game. I played D1 for around 20 or so hours before calling it quits. The missions sucked, no friends who owned it, slow progression, combat is okay, not enough variety, etc. Destiny 2 definitely seems to strongly refine what D1 was with better music, tighter combat, fun weapons, pretty art direction, and maps. I typically don’t buy full priced games, but I’m definitely considering it. DOOM
I’ve only had time to play the multiplayer but so far I’m having a lot of fun with it. It just makes me really wanna get Quake. Visually, the game looks awesome but with some questionable texture qualities, even on high. I plan on playing the campaign when I get the time. The Doom beta multiplayer wasn’t fun but I really liked what it has turned into. Comedy Night
This game has about a few hours of interesting content, but it's literally a simulator of PUBGs pre-game section or a Garry's Mod server. It’s a great concept, and there are some interesting ideas here, but it won't be much than what it is. Rez Infinite
A fantastic port of a classic game. Not much to say other than Area X is INCREDIBLE, absolutely love it. The game is great with or without VR. Music is just amazing and absolutely is a unique experience.
Tekken 7
This game is as good as I thought it would be. Amazing music and visuals and awesome fighting mechanics. Looking forward to more character additions. One of the best feeling Tekkens for sure.
Classics: Future Tactics - A fun budget tactics game. Smuggler’s Run - A mission based driving game that gets repetitive quickly. Rebel Raiders: Operation Nighthawk - Budget dogfighting game, it’s fun. NanoBreaker - Awful game, not even gonna talk about it. Enter the Matrix - Game has not aged well. Has about 20 min of fun. Reign of Fire - Wow this game is boring and bad for an even worse movie. Hot Shots Golf 3 and FORE! - Classic games and recommend.
That’s all I’ve been playing, what about you?
