Dolores Wells was born the youngest daughter of Daphne and August Wells. Consistent reports from her parents (and her oldest sister) say that Louie was a "very good baby" and that her only true flaw was that she had a very disarming gaze -- even from her earliest hours.
Louie grew up as a happy tagalong to her older siblings -- ignorant to the fact that someday (through circumstances and age) they would end up leaving the house one by one. Everyone who moved out experienced a cold shoulder from Louie for an extended period of time. She never liked change.
Clever as a student, Louie did well academically but never particularly thrived socially. No one was unkind to her, and she engaged happily when necessary, but she didn't particularly seek out the slumber parties and shopping trips of other girls her age. She was more than happy to come home and explore on the beach or curl up next to a window with a book.
Louie met her first true friend in the astronomy club in high school. Paired with Salvador Cavendish, nights under the stars bloomed into a secret teenage romance that ended disastrously at prom.
After high school, Louie pursued her love of nature and her parent's activism and pursued a degree in environmental science -- later going on to get her Master's degree in aquatic biology and conservation planning.
Over the years, Sal came in and out in her life in various degrees of commitment -- on and off, fights and make ups, never settling on commitment. Three years ago, Louie discovered she was pregnant as a result of a one-night stand the two of them had had. After much thought, Louie decided to keep the baby -- a boy that would have the name August (known as 'Gus' to pretty much everyone).
Gus became the bright light to the family following the sudden and shocking passing of her father.
Currently, Louie lives in a cabin on the beach near the lighthouse. She spends most of her days outdoors doing research for her studies and exploring tidepools with Gus. She and Sal share split custody -- intent on showing him that the three of them are a family in spite of the fact they don't all live together.
