Are you going to still post dandy wrold art I’m just asking

haven't been onto dandy's recently since I was super busy with commissions and trying to do stuff offscreen (scratches head) I'm unsure if I'll ever draw dandys again as well considering the recent stuff about Qwel, but I can say I'll be distant from the game for a while. the closest possible reason I might draw dandys again if it's motm au related instead of base game :").

How did you learn to color if I may ask?

Late response to anon woops, i just saw this! Not the best with colors myself because honestly me learning colors is just a buncha willy nilly stuff, no proper lessons nor anything other than making sure the colors I put have a slightly warm hue to it or slightly darker. I can share one thing that i (kinda) learned with a bit of confidence is making sure colors i pick has a balanced or nearly balanced contrast to it. will use my recent doodle of kris for example bc i drew them recently.

for fanarts specifically, I color pick colors from it's original references/official sprites then tweak them a bit to my liking, you can see the slight changes of it being slightly more warmer and darker compared to the original sprite of Kris (I often like shifting colors like this :P) Once I choose my colors and try to play around with it, I put them in gray scale after just to check values There's a couple of values with colors I chose that have similar values despite me trying to make sure it has decent contrast ; The hair and the inner shirt + the green of Kris' sweater and the color of their skin. Though usually depending on character design as well, this can come off as bad if it's hard to distinguish like where their sweater ends through values itself.

But with how I draw them with their inner sleeve being longer than their sweater, it helps distinguish that as there's a darker value of color. Ill bring another art but it's one of my old arts of an oc from a year ago as an example as well since old art can also showcase a bit of my learning journey

since this art is from a year ago, you can see how on the values, especially around the top of his head, it can be hard to tell from a far, that's one of the examples of values being too close it can be hard to distinguish as it lacks of even contrast from the subject and the background. Values also apply to when it comes to shading as well like this old art, so that's something to keep in mind as well! I haven't touch upon this unfinished old art for a while but I do intend to improve on it as it's much more better for the subject to be easily noticeable by decent contrast , it gives depth as well from the subject to the background :P

THIS IS ALL JUST FROM MY OWN THOUGHTS AND WHAT I LEARNED! not a professional or anything, but hopefully it still make sense even a bit. I'm mostly self-taught through out my art journey so some stuff I learn is still a huge work in progress as I'm also student from the mental lessons I'm trying to teach myself LOLS! But yeah colors are tricky so best you can do is make sure they stand out well enough from each other by making sure values and contrast is well! In summary - values that are too close or similar -> bad contrast , different values of dark and light -> ok contrast
