She stumbled upon a scarred face - yet another from Raccoon City. Seems there were more survivors than anyone had thought... They were enemies, that much was in the cards. They had no choice in the matter of course. Delta Team had orders as did Echo Six. Their orders only happened to be opposite of one another - and fate had decided for the two groups to face off.
It was a battle of good versus evil. And Karena was sad to admit that she had been on the wrong side of the battle... fighting for the wrong cause.
She was blind to her own conscience in those days though. If there was money behind the contract, the morals did not concern her. Oh how the years had changed her... Lupo stared at the man, not speaking a word because there was not one she could think of to erase the war that had raged between these two leaders fifteen years ago.
Unkind Circumstances || Rebecca & Lupo
Another long night. Rebecca stifled a yawn behind her hand. She had been working late nights the pasts few nights, trying to catch up on recent projects. Now she was beginning to feel the toll on her petite body. She knew she needed to get more rest but it seemed like there was no time for that. Besides, she was always the type to push her feelings and needs on the back burner to instead focus on others.
Most of the doctors had already left at this point, too.
‘I really need something to wake me up,’ she mused to herself. Shaking that thought away, she headed into the break room of the hospital and made herself some instant coffee. A small hum escaped her lips as she drank the coffee, feeling a bit better then. At the least a bit more alert that was.
When the call came in on the com system, she glanced up. 'Oh boy..' She knew that tone of voice. It sounded bad.
Quickly, she finished up her coffee and made her way down the hallway towards the emergency room lobby. She pushed open the doors. “Sorry, for the wait! What’s the situation?” Here, her green eyes darted over to Karena, mentally processing the damage quickly in her head. Shoulder gunshot. Bullet probably still lodged in the skin. Stitches. Possibility the bullet fractured a bone.
"Nancy, write up the paperwork, please. Thank you," she said quickly before turning to Karena again. "Ma’am please follow me, we need to stop that bleeding ASAP." And her black heels clicked away as she led the way to her office so she could begin.
Once the call was made, Karena lifted her hand once more to put pressure on the wound once more. This was far from the first time she had been shot - and while others may have been groveling in pain, the bullet only sent off a stinging sensation throughout her shoulder. It was more of a discomfort than true affliction.
Once the doctor finally arrived, her eyes shot up to analyze the woman. She seemed a bit young to be such a trusted doctor, but Karena wasn't to question success at a young age. After all, she had been in the French Special Forces at only the age of twenty-three.
And she had spit in the face of each person who said she was too young for such a career.
The brunette nodded silently as Rebecca ask that she follow her. She did so without hesitation, steps falling a bit dizzily behind the click of Doctor Chambers' heels along the flooring. They reached the office at last, Karena stepping in after Rebecca and taking a seat at the exam table.
"Merci," she said under her breath, thankful that this woman was tending to her wounds. Yes, that was her job of course -- but people in the medical field did not get thanked half as much as they deserved in Karena's opinion.
Without this woman, perhaps she would be in her hotel room this moment, pulling the bullet from within her shoulder by tweezers, soaking the wound in alcohol, and stitching it up with only a home sewing kit. She had done that before, unfortunately and it was not a pleasant experience.
Old "Friends" || Ada & Lupo
A voice that she hadn’t heard in quite a while— And an unfamiliar face to match it. It seemed she had gotten rather popular as of late, running into old comrades. Oh, the trouble that she and this vixen had caused back then— How she almost missed it.
Head inclined, Ada regarded the other with a knowing smirk, welcoming this unforeseen visit, "It’s been a long time, dear friend.” It was clear, even in the beginning, that trust would not be a strong point for this companionship; the two both having their own enigmatic aura.
“Hm. You know what they say, red is invigorating.” That, and it was a well known color associated with the spy.
"It seems you haven’t changed much, Karena.”
Invigorating, yes. That was the perfect word to describe Ada Wong. While Karena never truly trusted the woman, she certainly admired her. She was a femme fatale, much like herself. She had a clever air to herself, confident in every stride she took. Ada Wong was so sure of herself no matter the circumstances.
To the older woman, who had had her share of regrets, this was a trait to envy.
"Not much," Karena replied, stepping closer to the other woman, "but I must admit, the years have worn on me." The brunette looked back toward the hotel which she had been staying in in New York City, "What brings you to the Big Apple, Miss Wong?"
"Jack," she repeated his name, a smirk coming to her narrow lips, "Well it’s nice to meet you Jack." Karena stepped back then, hands falling to her sides. Her blue hues traced over this man’s features, unable to avoid the gruesome scar across his face - yes, this man had seen battle. She had a few scars of her own.
Thankfully, those were in places she could hide. “Where’d you get that nasty thing?” she said - unfiltered for a moment. Although, of course, she did not intend to be rude to Jack, it was only curiosity that tugged at her subconscious. “Not to be rude. I apologize if that was blunt,” she added politely.
He couldn’t say it was nice to meet her, and he wouldn’t lie about it. He wanted to be gone, to carry about his life in peace and find the one woman who would die from his wrath. Then again, this soldier, or so he assumed she was one, maybe she could help him, but she was a woman, such treachery behind those eyes. Jack knew she would betray him like the rest. "Hm, yes."
His scar, the one feature that drew the most attention. Oh, he could recall all the scars he had been given through the years but the one people paid most attention to were the visible ones, not the ones he kept hidden by clothing. Jack’s arm was the worst and to avoid any speculation about it, long sleeves covered every inch of him. "My scar? Back in the war." That’s all he would say, nothing more. There was much more behind it, such pain he could feel and always would, but that was laid to rest.
War. Hm, as was expected. "Looks like it was painful," she commented and she couldn't help but wonder just what had caused the gash across his face. Perhaps a brutal knife fight? God only knows how many of those she had been in in the past.
This man was rough around the edges. He seemed jaded to her - as if someone had broken his trust long ago. As if he were afraid to speak his mind, the wrong person may hear. Such a sad way to live in all honesty... "Which war were you in, mon ami?" she asked, curiously tilting her head to the side a bit.

Ally or Foe? || Vector & Lupo
One vial, all they wanted. Why he was in Nice, France, was the reason of his mercenary work, but what he would find would be something he didn’t think he would ever have to face again, he always dreaded the thought, but he did what he thought was right, even if it was at the cost of his den mother. He still thought of himself as apart of the Wolfpack, even if the others were dead.
He was looking out the window of a black car, tinted windows, his suit on fully but the mask in his lap, the LED lights off, just looking hollow and black. He was so lost in thought, but the feeling of the car stopping suddenly without traffic made him look to his right, seeing the building and fixing his mask over his face.
Camouflaged as he stepped from the car, it drove off as he simply walked up to the building entrance, knife in hand, ready to strike. He wasn’t as daft though, he looked at the perimeter of the building and instantly noticed the lack of security systems, noticing the temperament.
He began to run into the building, noting the dead bodies as he made his way to the lab, looking past a corner, watching a blue tint that flashed by his eyes. Knocking over a few vials in the mix of his confusion.
He was taken back slightly, was it really? It couldn’t be her. Sweat dripped down his face, a tinge of fear inside the pit of his stomach. "Lupo?"
As she had turned to run, she heard her code-name being called in an oh-so recognizable voice. Her head turned quickly, looking over her shoulder for the source of the sound. Nothingness filled the space behind her. But that voice... it seemed to echo through her mind even now. Perhaps it was only a phantom of the past creeping up on her.
It sure as hell felt like false hope.
Still, her voice came quietly, "Vector? Is that you?" Of all of her pack members - of all of her pups - their bond had been the strongest. She had trusted the man even to the point of asking for leadership advice on occasion. He was not only a talented soldier and not only a teammate, but.. a friend to her as well.
Nothing changed. That empty space remained - no sign of the long-lost operative. Her faith fell from her, cobalt hues shifting to the briefcase in her hand.
Her team was dead -- gone.
Once more, she turned her back to the shattered glass on the ground. She reached for the handle of the steel-enforced door and pulled it open, breathing slowly behind her respirator. Stepping into the doorway, Karena looked back once more.
Her heart sank as it had seemed to continuously do for the past fifteen years. How could she have let him down so..? "If you're here, show yourself," she demanded in the domineering tone she had mastered so well.

Lupo's eyes traced over the delicate yet firm features of the woman before her. She had seen that face - those eyes, before. But where? Surely a long time back. Ah, that was it! During her Umbrella years Karena remembered having read a file on a project of Umbrella's. There was a woman who had served as security for an underground facility, living in the mansion over it.
She had been infected with the T-Virus, if Karena did remember correctly. And according to her file, her genes had bonded with the virus. Umbrella had been searching for this woman - hunting her down...
"Alice, correct?" Karena inquired refusing to call her 'Project Alice' as she was widely known as among former Umbrella operatives.

"The city went to complete hell in the span of a week."
"The Wolf pups are fighting again, and it ain’t me involved this time. You should be happy Lupo. I’m being a good lil wolf pup—do I get a cupcake now?"
"Well this has to be a first," she replied, lifting an eyebrow. "In celebration of the rare circumstances..." Karena hands him a mini cupcake, smiles, and pats him on the head. "Good boy."
