When you finally bust out the cards to consult with them and they decide to be unhelpful.
Cinnamon Honey Butter
Ingredients:
1 cup butter, softened (not melted)
¾ cup honey
¾ cup powdered sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
Directions:
Blend all of the ingredients together with a mixer until smooth. Store in jars and refrigerate.
Whew, finally back from school! Now that I’m free, it’s time to reassemble one of my best school essentials for next quarter—tiny, reusable packets of herbs that are perfect for spells on the go (or spicing up a dull meal…what’s the difference, really?).
While I love the look of tiny bottles for portable ingredients, they’re not as space-saving as these repurposed straws. So though my best staples get bottled for easiest refills, I like to keep the odd ingredient (or extra backups of the classics) rattling around in my pockets like this! Some things to keep in mind:
Only melt the ends as they’re separated from the herbs by the pliers/tweezers—food safe plastic or not, you still don’t want that melting on your ingredients!
Most straws work for this, but thin plastic straws may warp and bubble further up the tube before the ends seal shut; try a few tests, and heat with care.
While I always carry around a pen knife, if you don’t, consider keeping these in a little pocket tin with a razor blade for easy opening. Cutting the small notch in the end is pretty effective for fingers-only opening, but may cause leaks in fluid-filled packets and should be avoided in those cases. Small, neat incisions with a knife also make for easier sealing for reuse!
EDIT: while I didn’t touch on it too much here, I also use these to prepare ready-made spells. If you’re doing this, consider matching the color of the candle and straw to the spell intent!
This is oddly simple and brilliant all at the same time.
Dandelion fritters 2 cups flour 2 eggs salt sugar cinnamon to taste 2 cups milk fry in oil heated on medium heat.
Planning a lesson plan around morel hunting and tree idendtification. Figured I would share that here too. But before we do any of that (my family) its probably best to know what is NOT a morel. Be ever careful out there haha.
No one can define exactly what witchcraft is, because for each us, it is different. You cannot dictate whether or not someone’s practice is “real witchcraft”, just as no one can tell you whether or not your craft is “real”. When I began on my pagan path, my teacher told me, on my very first day in her class, “No two pagans will give you the same answer to a question.” Our practices are as individual as we are.
Yule Poppy Prosperity Loaf for the Bread Machine
makes a 1 ½ lb loaf
Ingredients:
¾ c lukewarm milk (could also use water) 1 egg 3 t orange juice (love, luck, wealth) 3 T sugar ¾ t salt 3 C bread or all-purpose flour 2 T poppy seeds (love, luck, money) ¼ t pumpking pie spice (healing, luck, money) 2 ¼ t active dry yeast (bread machine yeast)
Combine ingredients in the pan of your bread machine suggested by the manufacturer. Select basic bread setting, then loaf size and crust color if available (I did medium crust).
Check dough after 5 minutes of mixing and add milk or flour if necessary. Let bake completely. Remove from bread machine and allow to cool a few minutes before removing from the pan and slicing.
Could be enjoyed with honey, nutmeg, or cinnamon butter, or cream cheese. Or you can do as I’m planning and make it into this delicious Orange-Cinnamon French Toast, which uses a lot of the same ingredients with the same magical intentions! :)
Fun fact of the day: There are 600 species of carnivorous plants.
Now have a good weekend.

i think it’s funny how christianity made a big deal about mary being impregnanted by god and everyone was like “oh my god the son of god! we must worship him listen to his great wisdom.”
meanwhile, if you said god knocked you up in ancient greece they’d just be like “yeah, me too.”
Okay, I laughed.
Honestly I think we’d solve a lot of problems if everyone in the Pagan/polytheist communities just stopped assuming that everyone has the same means and ease of access as they do.
When I was looking into Wicca I was absolutely terrified of circle dances, because my disability is such that I easily tire out and lose my balance, and holding a ritual on a hilltop is nice but hell if I’d be able to make it up there, that’s why when someone like Z. Budapest (I think it was her, might have been Starhawk) suggested that people who weren’t able to dances might sit in the center of the circle, that was a relief for me.
But this is just the tip of the iceberg, like I am sorry Piety Posse but not everyone has access to alcohol to give to their deities (and that includes, you know, minors) and not everyone has the kind of schedule that allows them to devote themselves to their deities 110%.
Some people don’t have the space for one shrine for every deity they worship.
Some people have dietary needs that don’t allow for certain lifestyle changes (like going vegan) or they just don’t have a lot of money to spend on food in general. (Some people can’t afford to not eat the offerings they give their deities.)
Seriously just….stop doing that….
I feel like this is very well said. Ultimately, your path needs to fit you. Not what somebody else thinks it should be. It's not always about stuff, but intention. The stuff (imo) just helps you focus your intent (will). Find something else that helps you if need be.
As to offerings, try found items or non food items. But I'm digressing from the main point. Don't get caught up in the trappings.
So I've been playing with picsart this evening. This was one of google's options for "witch cottage". This was my second try making clip art. How's my perspective in relation to the back ground?

We harvested a goat.
A local family farm had an issue with their male goat. It became aggressive towards the kids. They asked us if we would be kind enough to take the goat off their hands. The goat was only a little over a year old and fed good organic foods all his life. I saw this as an opportunity to bag some great meat and demonstrate to our children how to harvest, butcher, and prepare a delicious goat.
As the children fed him some carrots to distract him I tied the leash onto a big heavy rock under its neck. Then I started to pet the goat, straddled the goat, placed my left hand over the back of the head, placed my right hand deep under its throat holding my knife. I told the children to stand back and severed both arteries in one cut. The goat went quickly without little pain. Within several minutes we said a prayer to thank the goat for making our family stronger.
We will do a follow-up post with our dry aging and cooking methods on this goat.
We hope this post finds you healthy, happy, and doing what it is you believe you need to do.
Respectfully,
K
I honestly think every omnivore person should have some idea what goes into putting meat on your plate. I also feel its an important skill to know how to do. Just in case the worst should happen. If you are vegetarian… Hey no worries. Unless you want to learn in case if a survival situation.
So awesome post imo
