You made your way through the streets of New York, the hustle and bustle making you anxious. Everyone was always in such a hurry to get nowhere making you shake your head. You walked up the steps of the brownstone, pulling your keys out you opened the door wiping your feet as you walked in. "Archie! Come here boy it's time for walkies!" You called out into the empty house hearing the unmistakable sound of paws on smooth hardwood when the ball of brown fury bounded towards you. "Archie!" You said sinking to your knees as he lept at you, licking every inch of your face he could reach "ok ok, I'm happy to see you too." You laughed standing back up.
"Where's your ball?" You asked as he ran back down the hall, returning tennis ball in mouth panting "ok, let's get going." You smiled grabbing his leash you hooked it to his collar opening the door as he bolted out. Walking down the street to the park you couldn't help laugh as Archie practically vibrated with excitement. Your apartment didn't allow pets so you were ecstatic when your friend asked if you wanted to dog walk for her. How could you possibly say no to those big chocolate brown eyes as he looked up at you. So everyday you went to the park, with his favorite tennis ball of course to run the boundless energy out of him.
His tail wagged incessantly as soon as you hit grass, every few minutes tugging his leash to hurry you along to his favorite spot "I'm coming sheesh." You laughed jogging up the trail to the small wooded area he claimed as his. You looked around as you went, the trees growing new leaves with the spring and the smell of fresh cut grass filling your lungs making your sigh in content, this was your favorite part of the city. Making your way through a small clearing you saw couples hand in hand, laying on blankets in the sun and you couldn't help frown coming up on a man down on one knee, the woman he was with squealing as he held a small box out...a stark reminder that in a city of millions you were alone.
A sharp bark from your furry companion brought you back to reality, smiling seeing you were at the treeline. You leaned down to unhook the leash, Archie bouncing up and down with excitement as he dropped the ball at your feet. "Ok boy, are you ready?" You asked grabbing the ball as he spun in circles watching you. "Ok....get it!" You yelled throwing it as hard as you could past the trees watching him bolt as fast as his little legs could carry him, returning a few minutes later ball and tongue hanging out of his mouth. "That was quick, let's try again." You said walking further in winding up you looked down seeing him watching you in anticipation as you threw it again lunging yourself forward as the small brown torpedo took off when you heard a voice up ahead.
"Oow! What the..." a deep voice sounded through the trees. Quickly making your way through to the small clearing you saw a tall man rubbing the back of his head. "Oh my God I'm so sorry! I didn't know anyone was over here." You said rushing over to him seeing he had Archie's ball in his hand when he turned around. Time seemed to freeze as your eyes met the greenest one you had ever seen, the long dark curls cascading down to his shoulders had an other world shine to them as they swayed in the wind, his jawline looked as if it was chisled from marble rivaling any Michelangelo...he was beautiful. "Excuse me...madam?" The deep voice snapping you out of your trance. Shaking your head you looked into his eyes again "may I ask what is the meaning of the assault on my person?" He snapped holding the ball in his hand out.
"Oh! Well um you see he was...and I was...and then you were..." you tried to explain, your brain short circuiting waving your hands in the air "so this beast is yours?" He asked sternly making you stop "yes.. well no he's not mine I walk him for a friend." You said quietly looking down at Archie who was now sitting at the man's feet watching his hand intently. "Why is it looking at me like that?" He asked pointing at Archie. "Huh? Oh! He wants you to throw the ball." You said slowly walking towards him "and why would I do that?" He asked looking back up at you one eyebrow raised "b...because he goes and gets it, it's like a game." You said smiling "I don't think i understand." The man said as you stepped up in front of him craning your neck realizing how tall he actually was "um...let me..." you trailed off reaching out gently grabbing the ball from his outstretched hand, your fingers touching his sending sparks through your fingers.
"Ok Archie, are you ready?" You asked seeing him jump to his feet you reached your arm back throwing it hard as he took off after it. "And what does this accomplish?" The man asked watching Archie bolt after the ball "nothing really, he just likes it." You smiled up at him seeing him furrow his eyebrows as Archie ran back towards you "im y/n by the way." You said holding your hand out watching him stare at it. Your anxiety began to rise the longer he stood still, about to pull your hand back when he slowly reached his large hand out engulphing yours "Loki." He said simply, his eyes meeting yours again. "Loki? Like...THE loki...Avenger Loki?" You asked, your voice raising a few octaves seeing the corner of his lip curl up "yes, that would be correct." He said with a small laugh.
"Oh my god...i thought you looked...oh god your an Avenger and I hit you in the head with a tennis ball!" You said loudly as embarrassment flooded through you "it is quite alright, you did not see me." He said smiling again making his face light up "i am so sorry...I..." you trailed off staring at him "as I said, no harm done but I am going to need that back." He said laughing again...God you could listen to that laugh forever "what..." you started, looking down seeing you were still holding his hand. "Aah sorry." You whispered quickly letting go. "Do you bring your little beast here often?" He asked making you laugh. "Yes, I bring Archie here everyday, how about you? I haven't seen you here before." You said leaning down picking up the ball "i...no I have not been here before." He said looking out across the clearing "I have not been able to until now." He said clearing his throat. "Oh, I'm sure being an Avenger your pretty busy." You smiled throwing the ball again. "You could say that." He said avoiding looking at you when you heard his phone beep.
You couldn't help stare from the corner of your eye as he pulled it form his pocket, his baby blue button up straining with the flexing of his arms making your face heat up "I'm afraid I must be going." He said placing it back in his pocket "oh...ok." you smiled fidgeting with your fingers seeing him hold his hand out to you "it was a pleasure meeting you." He said when you placed your hand in his, turning it he brought it to his mouth pressing his lips to the back of it, his cold breath fanning your skin giving you goosebumps "me too...I mean you...i...hehehe." you giggled nervously seeing him smile wide "until we meet again." He bowed slightly releasing your hand "and you too little beast." He said patting the top of Archie's head as he barked before turning and walking towards the treeline. "Bye Loki, be careful." You yelled louder then intended feeling your cheeks heat as he turned waving before disappearing between the trees.
You looked down at Archie releasing the breath you were holding "you just gonna sit there and let me make a fool of myself?" You laughed as be barked at you "ok, let's get you home I need to go die of embarrassment." You laughed hooking the leash to his collar. You opened the door of the brownstone when your friend came in front the kitchen "oh y/n, you back early." Val said leaning down petting Archie "yeah well, I need to go crawl in a hole." You laughed unhooking the leash "why? What happened?" She asked leaning on the doorway "oh I just met the most gorgeous man in the city and made a complete idiot of myself no big deal." You laughed "I'm sure it wasn't that bad." She laughed with you "he said it was nice meeting me and I said me too....and then this weird giggle came out of me...he probably thinks I'm a creep." You said hearing her laugh.
"well maybe you'll see him again and make up for it with your charm and wit." She said waving her hand "yeah sure...I'll see you later." You laughed opening the door. You made your way home wondering if you would ever see Loki again, the city was massive and what were the chances of running into him not once but twice. You sighed shaking your head hoping wherever he was he was safe.
You wandered up the isle quickly putting the returned books away in their designated spots, hoping to get done as soon as possible so you could go pick up Archie for your daily walk when you heard the small bell above the door. "Oh thank god." You sighed hearing your relief come in. Setting the last book on the shelf you walked towards the front desk but no one was there. "Huh...I swore..." you trailed off going behind the counter grabbing your purse and keys when you heard a familiar voice "pardon me madam, I had a question." The deep timbered voice said sending a chill down your spine.
You stood up, your eyes meeting those deep green one's again seeing him smile "well hello y/n, this is a pleasant surprise." He said leaning on the counter "h...hi...hello...loki." You stuttered hearing him laugh "do you work here?" He asked looking around at the endless shelves of books. "Yeah, it's kind of a part time thing." You smiled looking down "ah I see, as well as the little beast?" He asked making you laugh loudly, quickly covering your mouth you looked up at him "y...yes, I walk him too." You said quietly. "So you are planning to return to the park today?" He asked, his smile fading into something else "um, yes. When Susan gets here I was gonna go get him." You said. Biting your lip you mustered all the courage you had "would you...um if you want...you don't have to but..." you stuttered meeting his eyes again "yes, I would love to join you" he smiled making your cheeks heat up.
As soon as Susan arrived you grabbed your things and headed out, Loki following close behind. "You know...it's crazy." You said laughing as you walked down the sidewalk "what is?" He asked looking at you "well, I had never seen you before, well not in person anyways." You said smiling "and In the course of a week I see you twice!" You said a little too loudly hearing him laugh "well, I guess you could say I don't get out much." He said putting his hands in the pockets of his black dress pants, looking up seeing he chose a deep green button up today, sleeves rolled to his elbows your eyes traced the thick veins running along his forearms when you heard him clear his throat, your eyes shooting to his "sorry..." you whispered quickly averting your eyes.
You picked up Archie who seemed more excited to see Loki them you and made your way to the park in a comfortable silence. You were standing in the clearing throwing the ball for Archie when loki suddenly cleared his throat "may i...can I ask you something?" He asked fidgeting with his fingers "yeah sure." You smiled up at him "you seem...nervous around me..." he trailed off looking down "do i..." He started taking a deep breath "are you frightened of me?" He asked quietly, his eyes slowly meeting yours "what!? No!" You rushed out seeing him flinch "sorry, didn't mean to yell." You laughed seeing him smile "come here." You said sternly walking towards the bench, sitting down he took a seat next to you.
"No Loki, I'm not scared of you" you sighed looking down "but, the things I've done...to this city, to your people..." you cut him off holding your hand up "no, I don't want to hear it" You said turning to face him "that was then, this is now. Our past doesn't define who we are." You said watching him look down to his lap "besides, I heard what you did wasn't your choice." You said, his eyes shooting to yours "my point is, we all make mistakes, who are we to judge others for what they've done." You shrugged seeing his eyebrows furrow "then...why..." He asked watching you "i...ugh..." you growled rubbing your temples "your gonna think im weird." You laughed, his face turning serious "I assure you I will not." He said sternly as you nodded "I am nervous around you because..." you bit your lip looking down feeling his intense stare om you "ugh because your hot ok!" You yelled making him flinch.
"I'm...hot?" He asked, confusion on his face "yes! Look at you! Your face looks like someone sculpted you, your hair looks like the softest thing on the planet, you have the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen, and your accent...I could literally listen to you all day." The words rushed out of you as he stared blankly at you making you laugh nervously "aaaand now you think im weird." You said frowning. "No, I do not it's just..." he started when Archie ran over to him, setting the ball down at his feet you watched him lean over picking it up "I've never had anyone say such things of me." He said quietly before throwing the ball across the clearing, Archie bolting after it "what!? No your messing with me." You laughed sitting back.
"Truly, in Asgard people favored brawn over..." he trailed off waving his hands over himself "they preferred my brother." He said sitting back crossing his arms "Well they're stupid then." You said hearing him laugh loudly "sorry, I didn't mean...all I'm saying is they clearly had no taste cause you are..." you started, your eyes roaming up and down his slender frame "I am what?" He asked quietly raising an eyebrow "beau..." you cleared your throat looking into his eyes "beautiful." You whispered seeing a light pink blush spread across his cheeks before quickly looking away. "if it isn't too forward, I think you are lovely as well." He said barely loud enough to hear. "Well...thank you." You said unable to help the smile on your face.
"Would you...if you would like to...could i..." He sighed turning to face you "would you accompany me to dinner?" He asked. You looked over seeing him biting his lip, his eyes searching yours "loki, I would love to." You said seeing him smile "excellent! Would tonight be too soon?" He asked making you smile "no not at all, let me get your number so I can send you my address." You smiled pulling your phone out seeing him look down. "I am unsure what my number is." He said pulling his phone out "Stark only recently gave this to me." He said staring at it. "May i?" You asked holding your hand out he placed it in your waiting palm. Quickly typing in your number your saved it before calling yourself "perfect, now you have me on there." You said handing it back to him.
"Well I better go get ready, I have a date with a prince tonight." You winked standing up loki following suit "is eight o'clock alright?" He asked with a smile "yes, that's perfect." You said staring into his eyes again. "Are you alright y/n?" He asked waving his hand in front of you "yes! Sorry...I just...i got lost in your eyes for a second." You said hearing him laugh "until this evening my lady." He said gently grabbing your hand lifting it to his lips again "until tonight good sir." You said doing your best curtsy almost falling over when his large hands grabbed your shoulders "careful, I wouldn't want you broken before our date." He winked "definately after though." You said under your breath "what was that?" He asked, a smile spreading across his perfect face "what?...nothing! I didn't say anything!" You quickly said "Archie! Let's go!" You called out feeling the heat of his stare on you again "i...I'll see you tonight Loki." You smiled quickly making a beeline for the trees "I look forward to it darling." He called out to you, the nickname making you blush "me too!" You called back, with a quick glance over your shoulder you saw him put a hand on his chest, smiling to the sky "me too." You whispered quickly making your way home to get ready.
