Bon Appetit, Your Majesty (2025) | Behind the scenes of Season 1 | Lee Chae-min as Lee Heon
lee heon in bon appetit, your majesty - ep.1
The most incredible detail of ep11 was that history has always played out like this, but the history books have always gotten it wrong. Historians believed it was the King that killed his palace court, but it had always been his Uncle. Everyone just thought it was the King, because he wore the mask. And so, Jiyeong had been there in the past, in every time line, in a loop, in continuum, making sure the King didn't become a tyrant... only for the uncle to cause the revolt instead.
History could never be changed by Jiyeong, because she has always been a part of it. She isn't from the future. She's from back then and always have been.
The tyrant was never the king.
I rarely say this, and in general I don't mind 12 episode Kdramas, but I think they could have made Bon Appetit Your Majesty longer. It would have been nice to see Ji-yeoung mentoring Gil-geum and more of them being friends. I wanted more shenanigans between the jester and the chief bodyguard, the one episode where we got them was great! Gil-geum had something going on with that other chef, was that just him helping her or romance? And more about the Jester and his revenge plot. Not to mention extending the ending because with a time-travelled king from way in the past, I feel like "they lived happily ever after" needs a bit more context.
Bon Appetit, Your Majesty — Episode 4 폭군의 셰프
"How did he get here?" That's not important. Because we're together again.

LEE HEON — BON APPETIT, YOUR MAJESTY (EP.12)
"My dearly beloved, if you were to read this someday, may you come back to my side."
BON APPÉTIT, YOUR MAJESTY | 폭군의 셰프 (2025)
What I enjoy most about a romantic K-drama is when the female lead unintentionally and unknowingly wins over the male lead because she basically doesn’t put up with any of his spoiled-brat nonsense, constantly tells him he’s unbearable, and keeps disrespecting him over and over and I thank Korea for giving me that dynamic on a regular basis because in the West they don’t dare make me this happy.
As we didn't see the real Michelin reviewer, my head canon is that it was the official food taster lady.
ACTUALLY I WANT TO KNOW!!
maybe if y'all didn't waste 4 episodes with the ming storyline we could have had, oh idk, ten more minutes to show how the king found his way into the future???? which seems pretty important to me considering there were also no hints of any other kind of magic except the book and the solar eclipse?? SIGH
next time i have doubts about my own writing i'll just think kdramas exist
me every time the emperor flashbacks to his mom while jiyeong is feeding him
