Scripted or not I have some comments about the blocking and/or body language of this scene:

1) I find it interesting that when Jeremy approaches Emma to greet her she raises her arm and drink in front of her creating a physical barrier that prevents Jeremy from leaning in too closely.

2) When Jeremy tells Emma she's "looking radiant" Steed looks away somewhat...conspiratorially. Could Emma looking "radiant" have anything to do with the four-poster bed back in Steed's room that they just came downstairs from? Rhetorical question.

3) Upon introducing Steed, Emma steps away from Jeremy and places herself closely beside Steed, thereby increasing her physical distance from Jeremy and decreasing it from Steed.

Learn to read the room Jeremy.

Also, Steed's face. His expression looks like he's saying "the bloody cheek of that man waltzing over here, kissing my girlfriend." But, obviously, being the perfect gentleman, he's too polite to say anything. Emma's body language speaks for the both of them.

Oh nothing, just Steed and Emma raising the attractiveness level of the room (well, any room really) by like 1000%.

They skew the numbers just a smidge.

Oh the white dress. I love her in it so much. Don't know whether it's the simplicity, the colour, or both but, she looks so incredibly beautiful in this scene.

Great image courtesy of U/DynastyFan85. I've never seen the one on the left but is obviously from this same shoot as the familiar one in the right. There's also a third (blurry, low quality) image in these same outfits where Patrick and Diana are clasping hands but I can't find it.

I've never seen the one on the left either. Thanks for posting. First time seeing the colour of the dress. I love this shoot, because I always think it looks like she just got out of bed, in her camisole, in their shared hotel room.

I've just seen this sad news on the Avengers FB page. I think Jennifer Croxton would have been an excellent Avengers girl, in more than just the one episode; she had great chemistry with Patrick. It's a shame we never got to see more of Lady Diana Forbes-Blakeney.

Sad news Avengers fans. Julie Stevens who played Series 2 character Venus Smith has passed. RIP.

Macnee’s stunt double might not look much like him, but sometimes he does capture Macnee’s elegance of movement. I’m thinking especially of the kick and its recovery in the second half of the gif.

But isn’t it really over-elaborate? The whole acrobatics thing is basically showing off.

That’s not what I’m talking about. I’m talking about the way he moves, especially in the kicking bit. Look at how he does the kick, and how he moves and positions his body as he finishes it. It’s a very Macnee way to move.

And showing off is kinda what Steed likes to do, anyway.

I thought so too. At the end, in profile, he captures Patrick's (Steed's) movements and looks more like him. I'm sure, when I saw these episodes as a teen, I naively thought Patrick was doing his own stunts.

Patrick and Diana barely tolerating each other for an appearance in Germany.

I know Linda Thorson made no secret of her crush on Patrick but, she blatantly inhales him in that last gif. I wonder if the actors feelings' bled into the characters at this point; Linda was pining after a man whose heart belonged to someone else and, although he was a perfect gentleman to her, he later admitted he felt like he ignored her, because he missed Diana so much. Their dynamic was practically the characters' dynamic.

I feel like this picture and the intimacy it implies doesn't get talked about enough.

Again, if you showed this image to someone who has never encountered this series or these two people before there's really only one conclusion they can come to.

I love how you can see his hand, just out of shot, cupping her hip. And I know it's a dress but, it looks like she's in nightwear. It's such a lovely picture.
