Chapter 24
Mae rolled over and looked at the empty spot in the bed beside her. Taehyung’s spot. It was still warm so he hadn’t been out of bed long. She could hear the soft hum of his voice echoing down the hallway as she laid there thinking about last night.
Was it real? Was it a dream? Had she really been that brave?
The sound of Jungkook yelling at her to “get her ass out of bed” brought her out of her thoughts. The moment she quickly threw the covers to the side and stood up, Mae knew that last night hadn’t been a dream. Her hips hurt, they were sore from being spread wide as she attempted to buck against Taehyung’s hold.
Mae winced and stretched, praying nobody came in as she hurried around the bed to use the restroom. The last thing she needed was someone asking her why she was randomly doing lunges and squats.
“It’s about damn time!” Jungkook teased when she finally came out of the room.
“Well excuse me for sleeping,” Mae sassed back.
“I figured you didn’t sleep much because of the storms,” he said before turning to grab a box from the couch. “So I decided to come after the gym instead of before.”
“Yep, the storm kept me up pretty late.” Taehyung snorted and looked at his feet, trying to hide the smile on his face.
“So what’s in the box?” she asked, hoping Jungkook didn’t hear or see him.
“I don’t know. Veronica just told me to bring it to you.” he handed her the box and leaned in a little closer. “If we are being honest, she kind of scares me. So I didn’t want to ask,” he whispered.
“Yeah, she scares me too,” she laughed, grabbing the box from him and placing it on the dining room table, before joining them back in the living room.
“Well,” Jungkook clapped his hands together and rocked on his heels, “Now that I’ve safely delivered your package and returned the item Tae left in my car.” He looked over Mae’s shoulder and smiled at his friend who was getting up from the couch, “I shall go home and shower.”
Mae gave Jungkook a hug goodbye, told him thank you and then went back to the taped box while Taehyung walked him out.
She smiled while she read the note from Veronica, stating what was inside. After placing it on the table she removed the tissue paper. The first layer was random snacks she’d asked her to buy and send to Korea.
“Did she just send you a bunch of food?” Taehyung asked, placing his chin on her shoulder and watched as she removed the food.
“No, there’s clothing,” she pointed out once the bags of the final layer came into view. “She said in the note some of them were for me and some were for you.”
“Aw, that’s nice of her. I can’t wait to find out later what she sent.”
Mae leaned away to get a better look at him. “Why later?”
“Because, we need to talk about last night.” He watched as her cheeks began to redden and she went back to unpacking the box. He knew she’d be anxious to bring up the conversation on her own, so he wanted to get it out of the way quickly, to ease her mind some.
“There’s nothing-” she cleared her throat trying to regain control over her shaky voice. “There’s nothing to talk about.”
Mae’s eyes turned to her wrist when she felt Taehyung grab ahold of it, then used his other hand to push the package away. Before she could blink he had spun her around and sat her on the table, a move she found a little frightening but also arousing at the same time.
“Don’t do that, Mae,” he said in a gentle, yet firm voice. “I’ve known you long enough to know how your brain works. If we don’t talk about it now it will just rattle around in there driving you crazy.”
Mae let out a defeated sigh. “Fine,” she slouched and looked at the space between them. It would make the subject a lot easier to talk about.
“What happened to all that confidence you had last night?” Taehyung smiled, looking at the top of her head.
“It went away when the sun came out. It was a lot easier being daring when I can hardly see you.” Mae couldn’t help the smile that formed at the sound of Taehyung’s soft laugh. She knew it was a stupid answer, but it was true in a way. The low lighting made her feel less timid. Almost as if she could get away with anything.
“Mae,” Taehyung hooked his index finger under her chin and lifted it. “You don’t need to hide anything from me. What I told you last night was true, I’m not going anywhere.”
“What about everything you said in your live?” She wanted to know if his answer was still the same now that he was fully awake.
Taehyung’s brows scrunched as he thought. “Which part?”
Mae looked over his shoulder, unable to make eye contact. “The part where you said you loved me.”
He moved his head so that he could look her in the eyes again. “You asked me that the other night, before I fell asleep.” Taehyung smiled, vividly remembering the conversation. “Didn’t I answer you then or was it a dream?”
“You did, but I wasn’t sure if you were aware of what you said.”
“Do you remember what I told you at the Jazz club in Jeju?” he smiled, slowly running his fingers across her jaw line to her neck, watching the way her body reacted to him as they recalled their conversation. “I told you love isn’t over for you and I meant it. The moment I opened the door to Jimin’s apartment and saw you standing there, I knew I was a goner. You aren’t afraid to call me out on my bullshit, you see me as Kim Taehyung and not V of BTS. When you weren’t stealing glances of me, I was stealing glances of you. I looked forward to us hanging out together, I knew you didn’t want any kind of relationship so I took what you were willing to give me. I didn’t take you to the airport because I lost rock, paper, scissors. I took you because I wanted to. When Jimin mentioned surprising you in Jeju I had my bags ready faster than he could buy tickets. When we found ourselves accidentally married, I knew this was my chance to finally show you how I felt and help you realize what a strong woman you really are. I love you, Mae. I wish for nothing more than to be by your side. You jump, I jump. Or in the case of last night you cum, I cum.”
Mae snorted out a laugh at his attempt to lighten the mood. “You're such an ass.”
“But I’m your ass.” Taehyung replied with a teasing smile. “Sorry, I could see the tears and I didn’t want to see you cry.”
“I’m not…” her protest was cut short when she felt the dampness of her cheeks. “Wait, where are you going? You can’t confess your love for me then run away!” Mae watched him dig through one of the drawers in the tv stand while she wiped the moisture from her face.
“I hadn’t planned to give it to you so soon and was going to do something romantic when I did.” he said quickly, grabbing something from the drawer and hiding it behind his back. “The day after you left LA, I called a jeweler that I know and had this made,” he continued, walking back into the dining room. “I, um, I got your size from D and made sure you’d like it before I finalized anything.” Taehyung stood in front of her and stuck out his hand, revealing a small velvet box. “I know our marriage wasn’t planned. But I’m all in, Mae. I really want this to work. I want you by my side as my partner. As my equal.”
Mae stopped breathing when Taehyung opened the box. Inside was the most beautiful ring she’d ever seen. It was white gold, with intricate designs and a heart shaped diamond. A ring that she would proudly wear on her finger.
“You’re making me a little nervous here, Mae. Say something, please,” Taehyung said, nervously rubbing the back of his neck.
For the first time since he opened the box, Mae looked up at the man standing in front of her. The man whom she fought her feelings for, for the past two years. The man who she drunkenly married. The man who’d haunted her dreams in a good way. The man who was letting her be her own person. The man who no matter how many times she tried to push him away, kept coming back. The man who she was very much in love with.
Without saying a word, Mae wrapped her arms and legs around Taehyung. Pulling him as close to her as she could and kissed him. She didn’t trust her words to say how she really felt. So she kissed him with every ounce of love and passion she could muster.
She was so engulfed in the feeling of him, she hadn’t realized he’d removed her from the table until she felt the soft bedding on her backside. When a cool breeze replaced the warmth of his body, Mae opened her eyes to see him breathing heavily as he sat back on his heels.
Taehyung smiled at the pout she was giving him, fell forward on his hands and lowered himself just enough to rub his nose and lips across her jaw and neck. “We aren’t going any further until you say something, Mae,” he spoke softly. “Use your words or this ends here.”
“You’re such a pain in my ass,” she said jokingly and then tightened her legs around his waist when she felt him start to move away.
“I mean it, Mae. This relationship can’t continue if you aren’t going to be open with me. Say whatever is on your mind right now.”
“Everything that’s on my mind? Are you sure?”
“Yes, I want to know everything. No more hiding. No more being afraid.”
Mae closed her eyes, took a deep breath and let her body take in everything she was feeling. “God you smell good,” she shivered when a puff of warm breath fanned her neck as he laughed. “And you feel good too. Just having you close to me makes my body feel things that I didn’t even know were possible.”
“You're rambling, Mae.”
“You said to tell you whatever's on my mind.” She squealed with laughter, when she felt his teeth bite the crook of her neck. “Okay, okay. I’ll stop rambling. Just stop biting. Although we might want to revisit it later,” she said, earning a growl of agreement from Taehyung. Mae took another deep breath to concentrate while he started to gently kiss her neck again. “I want to be with you, Tae. In every way possible. I’m tired of fighting my feelings for you. I love you Taehyung and that scares the shit out of me, mainly because up until recently I thought I knew what love felt like. But every second I’m with you, every time I hear your voice or feel you. I realize that wasn’t really love.” Taehyung stopped kissing her neck and looked into the eyes of the woman laying under him. “Thank you, Tae. Thank you for not giving up and being patient with me. I can pretend that my feelings haven’t been there all along, but we both know, hell even our friends and family know that's a lie. You were right, Tae. Love is not over for me, because it didn’t begin until you came along.”
Taehyung leaned closer and whispered on her lips, “See, wife. That wasn’t so bad, was it?” before locking his lips with hers.
┗━•❃°•°❀°•°❃•━┛
Mae stared out the window and nervously fidgeted with the ring on her left hand. A smile formed on her lips as she thought about that day from nearly a year ago. The day Taehyung gave her the ring. The day they both confessed their true feelings for each other. The day they made love for the first time.
A lot has changed since then. Wander was doing better than expected for a store that’s been open for only 5 months and due to the high demand they’d be opening more stores within the next year or two. The guys were officially taking a step back from group activities. Their schedules, although still hectic, were a little more relaxed as they focused on their solo projects.
Mae closed her eyes and took in a deep breath, filling her lungs with the fresh ocean air. They were back in Jeju. Today was her and Tae’s one year drunken wedding anniversary and to celebrate the group rented out the same house where it all began.
The shriek of Veronica being tossed in the pool brought Mae back to reality and the phone call she’d just hung up from. Things in her life seemed to never go as planned any more. Not since she and Taehyung went to the jazz club. Just when she thought things became somewhat normal, something always came along and made it interesting.
She looked away from her friends in the pool when she felt a pair of eyes on her. The eyes in question belonging to her husband. The second their eyes met his smile fell, he could tell something was wrong. Taehyung excused himself from the conversation he was having with Jin and Namjoon, before walking towards the patio doors that lead to the room she was in.
“What’s wrong, Mae?” he asked with concern written all over his face.
“Nothing,” she answered with a small smile.
“Your eyes are telling a different story.” His voice was stern as he closed the distance. “Who was on the phone?”
“It was nothing. It can wait until we are back home,” she said, trying to keep a straight face. She was going to tell him, but at the moment she was enjoying watching him squirm. He was part the reason they were now in this predicament after all.
“Neither one of us are leaving this room until you tell me what's going on,” he stated firmly before sitting on the foot of the bed.
“Tae, it’s not that big of a deal,” she said, kneeling in front of him. “Trust me. It can wait until we get back home.”
Taehyung brought up his hand and cupped her cheek. “Wife, you know the agreement and right now, I’m using my ‘what’s inside Mae’s brain’ card. So spill.”
Mae rolled her eyes and sighed before joining him on the bed. “Fine, but I’m warning you it’s going to change some things.”
“Love, whatever it is, we'll get through it,” he said, taking one of her hands in his.
“Okay, but I tried to warn you.” Mae lowered her head to hide the smile that was threatening to show and took a deep breath to calm her excitement. “You remember five months ago after everyone left the Grand Opening at Wander?”
“Oh yes. I remember that night very well.” She didn’t have to look at him to know he had a cocky grin on his face. “The night we christened your new office and the supply room.” Taehyung suddenly froze beside her as the memories flooded him. “Oh fuck! Please tell me nobody saw us. How the hell did nobody on my team hear about this?” Mae grabbed him, stopping his panicked hands from reaching in his pocket from his phone.
“Tae, calm down. Nobody saw us.”
“Then what the hell happened?”
“Drunken Mae and Tae is what happened.” Mae laughed as he repeated her words, trying to decipher what they meant. “It wasn’t the stress,” she added, hoping he’d catch on.
“Drunken Mae and Tae. It wasn’t the stress,” he whispered over and over until it finally hit him. Taehyung’s eyes widened and he turned to look at his wife who was now smiling beside him. “No? What? No? You’re not! We aren’t?”
“Yes, Tae. We are.” Mae laughed at the many faces he was making. “In about four months,” she added, placing her hand on her stomach. The irregular periods and weight she’d gain she’d assumed was stress, but when she couldn’t keep anything down last week she thought she’d visit the doctors just in case. She’d taken a couple of tests but they came back negative. So she decided to go to the doctor and get some blood work done.
“I need to call my parents.” Taehyung stood up and pulled his phone from his pocket, but froze before hitting the call button. “Appa is going to be upset with us. He’s going to be happy about the baby. But he’s going to be upset that we were drunk when it happened.”
“I don’t think he needs to know all the details, Tae.” Mae laughed, standing up and giving him a kiss on the cheek.
Taehyung wrapped an arm around her waist, stopping her from leaving his side. “Thank you, Mae. Thank you for once again making me the happiest man in the world,” he whispered in her ear before placing a kiss on her lips. “I love you, Mae.”
An uncontrollable smile spread across her face as she looked into the eyes of her husband. “I love you too, Tae.”
Taehyung hugged her close and kissed her forehead. “I can’t believe we are going to be parents.”
“You’re going to be what?” Veronica’s loud voice caused the couple to jump apart and look at the woman standing just outside the french doors. “Did you just say what I think you just said?”
“I…umm…I guess that depends on what you heard?”
The shorter woman leaned into the doorway a little and whispered. “You're pregnant?” Veronica’s eyes widened when Mae smiled and nodded. “Oh my god!” she said, stepping back. “Guys! She finally did it! She finally admitted to fucking him! Yoongi, start pouring the drinks! We are going to be aunts and uncles!”
Taehyung and Mae both laughed as they looked at their friends through the large window. Each of their faces showed a mixture of shock and excitement. “Well, she just made our jobs a lot easier.” Mae said in amusement.
“Do you think she’ll call Appa for me?”
Mae laughed and kissed him on the cheek before grabbing his hand and guiding him to the door. “No can do, Kim Taehyung. You’re the one that started the office sex and now you must pay the price.”

Chapter 23
Mae stared aimlessly out the window behind her computer. She was supposed to be working, but at some point she found herself looking over the city below. She’d been doing paperwork when her mind started to wonder.
Yesterday after she and Taehyung ate breakfast they went to the lawyer’s office. Things weren’t looking good for Tyler. The lawyer along with the government were going to charge him with everything they could, from entering Korea with ill intentions to attempted kidnapping. As they read off the list, Mae was amazed at how careless Tyler had become just to get revenge on something that was his own fault. He of course denied everything but with recordings and witnesses of what he did and confessed to in public it wasn’t looking well.
Once they’d finished up there the two of them came back to the apartment where Taehyung insisted that they get Mae’s room unpacked. While they waited for their lunch to be delivered before they got started, Taehyung made sure to let her know multiple times that just because she was about to have her own bed again didn’t mean that his bed wasn’t still open for her.
Later that night while the two of them laid in bed, Mae suddenly remembered Taehyung’s live and figured it would be a great time to ask him about it while she was cloaked in the safety of the darkness.
“Hey, Tae?”
“Hmm?”
“Can I ask you something?”
“I guess that depends on what it is.” he answered sleepily as he shifted in the bed.
“How did you come up with the little story you told on your livestream?”
“Namjoon and Yoongi helped me,” he said with a yawn. “I told them I wanted to say something to ARMY, so they came to my room and we figured it out together. I pretty much knew what I wanted to say but I wanted to make sure it came out correctly.”
“So you did rehearse it?”
“Mmhmm,”
“And what about when you were answering the questions?”
“That was all on the spot.”
“But was it true?”
“Yes, I answered the rest of the questions truthfully.” he softly answered before giving in to sleep.
When Mae woke up this morning Taehyung was already gone to the office and The Eomeonis were sitting at the dining room table.
The moment she stepped foot in the entryway she was greeted by a happy Yeontan and the older women doing laundry while they drank their coffee.
“Good morning, daughter,” the two women said in unison as she picked up the little ball of fur to give him some pets and kisses.
“I didn’t know you two were coming over today.” Mae shifted Yeontan in her arms and sat down at the table.
“When I called my son this morning he said that you guys finally got your room setup. So we came over to help you clean up.” Taehyung’s mother said, setting a warm cup of Mae’s favorite tea in front of her.
“The two of you didn’t need to go to all this trouble. I would’ve been fine doing it alone today.”
“It’s no trouble at all. We’ve already cleaned up the room. All we have left is the laundry.”
“You’re a business woman now.” Jimin’s mother added. “Go get cleaned up and dressed. We’ll get you some breakfast and then bring it in so that you can get started.”
Mae didn’t argue. She gave the two women a hug then went and did as she was told.
The Eomeonis, along with Yeontan, check on her off and on throughout the day. About every hour or so at least one of them would come in with a fresh drink, snack and to make sure she took a break.
Six hours later and she was still there at her desk. Work long forgotten as the smell of dinner filled the room. Mae closed her laptop, stretched and smiled at Yeontan, who’d taken up residency on the freshly made bed, before padding down the hall to the kitchen.
“There she is!” Taehyung’s mother looked up from the dish of food she was placing on the table when she heard Mae enter. “Sit daughter,” she said, gesturing to one of the empty chairs. “Let’s eat, drink some wine and you can tell us what had you staring out the window oblivious to the world for the past hour.”
Mae winced in embarrassment and placed Yeontan on the flood and then sat down. “It was an hour?”
“Roughly. I came in to let you know we were starting dinner earlier, because it’s going to start storming in a few hours.”
“I can’t thank you two enough for today.”
“No thanks needed. You’re our daughter and it’s the least we could do.” Taehyung’s mother finished putting food on Mae’s plate. “Now,” she said before sitting in her own seat. “Tell us what’s on your mind.”
“When…when did you know your husbands were your forevers?”
The two older women look at her with knowing smiles.
“It just felt right.” Jimin’s mother answered.
“Could you be a little more specific? For five years of my life I thought it felt right with Tyler. But looking back on it now…”
Jimin’s mother spoke when Mae’s words trailed off “He feels like home, a piece of my soul that I was missing. When I’m with him I feel safe and like I’m the most important person in the world. I have nothing to fear because he would never hurt me and would never let anyone else. The simplest things bring me happiness and comfort when I’m with him. He doesn’t have to prove he loves me, the littlest things like sitting beside me in comfortable silence is enough for me.”
“Mae, are you in love with Tae?” Taehyung’s mother asked softly.
“Yes…no…maybe…ugh! I don’t know.” Mae picked up her wine glass and quickly downed it. “This whole thing is so frustrating. Why am I scared of even the possibility that I could be in love with him?” She moved her plate to the side and rested her forehead on the edge of the table. “Why did he have to admit that him saying he loved me on the livestream was true?”
“Oh my goodness,” Jimin’s mother giggled.
Mae lifted her head to look at the two women, “Oh my goodness, what? Why are you two snickering like you know something?”
“We are laughing because Taehyung thought he dreamt that,” she sighed and touched Mae’s arm. “I fear if the two of you don’t talk face to face and confess your feelings for each other, the two of you will explode.”
“I’m just scared,” Mae pouted.
“Our sweet daughter, you can’t let one bad apple ruin the whole batch. One of things you wanted to do after you left Tyler was to take your life back, yeah?” The younger of the three nodded in agreement. “Then why are you living it as if you are still being controlled?”
“Let yourself be free, Mae. Completely and utterly free. Know more second guessing or else you might find yourself living a life of regret.”
┗━•❃°•°❀°•°❃•━┛
Mae shot straight up in bed when a loud clap of thunder woke her from her peaceful dream. Her room was dark except for the small amount of light coming through the window.
After the Eomeonis left she cleaned up, put on her pajamas, sat on the bed with her computer and decided to spend the remainder of her evening working while she waited for Taehyung to come back from his group dinner. She must’ve fallen asleep at some point, there was now a blanket over her and the computer was sitting on her desk. She grabbed her phone that was still sitting on the end table where she’d put it.
It was almost two in the morning. There was a text message from two hours ago, Taehyung letting her know he was on his way home.
Mae jumped when another loud clap of thunder echoed around her room. She got up and slowly walked over to the window and then decided to go to the restroom when she couldn’t see out of it because of the heavy rain. She hated thunderstorms. One vacation with her Aunt and Uncle had them hiding out in a creepy storm cellar for almost an hour because of a tornado warning. They weren’t directly hit but the damage from the storm was enough to frighten Mae each time a bad storm came.
Mae squealed and quickly ran from the bathroom to her bed for protection. She sat there under her blanket and looked around the barely lit room while she tried to figure out her next move. There was no way she’d get any sleep until after the storm passed. Taehyung was home judging by her computer being on her desk and the blanket that was over her.
She could go into the living room where it is quieter due to the lack of windows. But she’d have to turn on some music or a movie to block out the sound from the glass patio doors in the dining room.
When the whistles and groans from the strong wind filled her room, Mae stood up and peeked out her bedroom door. There was no sign of life in the apartment and Taehyung’s bedroom door was closed, which meant he was asleep. She looked down the hall toward the living room, she couldn’t be too loud if she chose to hunker down in there. She didn’t want to accidentally wake him up with all the noise. Then she looked back at his closed door. She could quietly sneak in and lay in his bed with him, that way at least she wasn’t alone.
Another echo of thunder had her grabbing her phone and sprinting out her door. Her intention was to go to the living room, but her legs had their own plan and brought her to Taehyung’s room. Mae quickly opened the door and went inside.
“What the fuck?”
Mae turned just in time to see a shirtless Taehyung grab one of the extra pillows and cover his lower half. She stood there for a second looking over his naked torso, his breathing was labored. She realized what she’d just walked in on when she could see the flesh of his hip sticking out the top of the sheet just under the pillow.
She’d walked in on him pleasuring himself and just the thought of him doing that made her completely forget the storm outside.
“Mae? Are you okay?”
She didn’t reply, she slowly walked to the bed and put her phone on the table. Right now she was letting her needs control her actions and she was intrigued on how far she and Taehyung would allow her to go before either of them stopped her. Mae kept her eyes locked on the pillow that was being held down by his hand. Those hands that she’d often dreamt and fantasized about.
“What are you doing?” Taehyung’s voice turned from a worried tone to curious. He cocked his head to the side and watched her as she got on the bed and slowly crawled his direction with focused eyes.
Mae gently reached out for the pillow, a smile tugged at her lips when he removed his hand, not stopping her. The strongest feeling of pleasure she’d ever felt swirled around her body when she could see the outline of his still stiff cock through the thin sheet.
She put the pillow at the foot of the bed and then finally looked at him before making her next move. Taehyung’s smile and curious eyes were enough to give her the last bit of remaining confidence she needed to continue. She’d never given a man oral before. Tyler was against it, saying it was unhealthy. She didn’t know if she’d be any good at it, but right now everything inside of her wanted her to at least try.
Her eyes moved back to the top of the sheet. The thin piece of fabric that hid the part of him she had many wet dreams about. A feeling of pride washed over her when he shivered at the feeling of her fingers grazing his lower abdomen as she moved the sheet out of her way.
Taehyung let out the most beautiful breathy moan she’d ever heard as she slowly took him into her mouth as far as she could. Mae let out a moan of her own when his fingers snaked in her hair, pulling it a little when he moved it out of her face.
Her movements quickened once his breathing became rigid and the fingers of one hand dug into her thigh as the other tightened around her hair. She was enjoying the cries of pleasure coming from him. They were more erotic and sinful than she had ever imagined.
The sound of her name falling from his lips as the warm liquid of his release filled her mouth made her lady parts clinch with need in a way they’d never done before.
Mae sat back on her calves once she finished. It took her a couple of seconds before she could look in Taehyung’s direction. When she did, a smile spread across her face as she looked at him laying there, eyes already looking at her, breath heavy and a relaxed smile on his face.
“What the hell was that for? I’m not complaining, but,” he ran his hands over his face trying to focus, “Fuck, Mae. You could have warned me.”
“I just wanted to see how far I’d go, or how far you’d let me go,” she confessed.
“Well I’d say you got pretty far,” Taehyung chuckled, propping himself up on his elbows.
“How was it? Was it bad? I’ve never…um…” Mae bit the inside of her cheek and nervously waved her hand around his still uncovered member. “I’ve never done that before. I’ve always wanted to try it at least once.” She knew she was rambling, but she didn’t care. “I was told today that I need to stop being afraid and second guessing myself or I could end up living a life with regret. So when I saw you laying there, I realized what I accidentally walked in on and I took my chance. Oh my god! I didn’t ask you if it was okay first.” She put her hand over her mouth as her eyes widened in realization, “I am so sorry, Tae.”
Taehyung sat up so that he could look at her face to face. “It’s alright, Mae.” His hand grabbed her wrist, pulling her hand away. “While we are being honest, then you should know that I was fantasizing about you walking in and catching me.”
“You were?”
“Yes,” he whispered, bringing her wrist to his lips, kissing it. “What you did was amazing.” he said slowly kissing up her arm, not missing the way her body reacted to his touch. “It brings me a lot of pleasure to know I’m the only one you’ve ever done that to.”
Mae’s body filled with the need for pleasure again at his soft lust filled voice. The way this man had so much control over her body and emotions was both scary and exciting. Her breath hitched when he brought his face inches from her, his eyes traveling back and forth between her eyes and her lips. Silently asking her if he could kiss her.
Mae leaned forward, connecting their lips. The kiss started soft and slow. Their lips moving gently in rhythm with each other. Taehyung helped her to adjust her legs so she was no longer sitting on them and then gently laid her on her back, settling himself in between them.
The room filled with their moans when the kissing became heated and Taehyung used his position to his advantage, moving his hips to rub his stiffness against her warmth.
“Mae?” he whispered, kissing his way from her lips to her neck.
“Ye…yes,” she stuttered as she tried to hold back a moan.
“Can I return the favor?” he asked, bringing his hand up to unbutton the top of her pajamas.
“Favor for what?” Her breaths quickened when she felt his hands explore her now bare chest and his lips trailing down to do the same. She felt like her body was going to explode, she’d never felt like this from a simple touch before and she didn’t want it to stop.
“Let me taste you, Mae. Let me do things to you that I’ve always wanted to do.” Taehyung stopped when he felt her go still under him.
“I’ve…I’ve never had anyone go down on me before.”
Taehyung looked at her, “What?”
“I’ve only been with one person, Tae. And they thought it was unhealthy, so we never did it. The closest anyone's face has come to my vagina is a doctor when I went for my yearly check up.”
Taehyung placed both hands on the bed, lifting himself up so he could look her in the eyes. “I will do whatever you are comfortable with, Mae. If you don’t want me to then I won't.”
Mae slid her hand around the back of his neck and used it to pull herself closer to his face. “I want you to,” she said, locking eyes with him. “I want you to do everything I’ve dreamt about and more. I want you, Taehyung.”
Mae watched the flicker of heat in Taehyung’s eyes before he closed them when he smashed their lips back together. The kisses were sloppy and full of hunger. Their lips didn’t part until after they’d worked together and removed her shorts and underwear. Mae slowly lowered herself back to the bed while Taehyung kissed, nibbled and licked his way down her torso.
“You’ll be calling me Dr. Kim, by the time I’m done,” Taehyung joked, helping her to relax while he positions himself.
“But your not a…OH FUCK ME!” Mae’s words quickly turned to cries of pleasure when Taehyung's tongue slid across her clit just before he took it in between his lips.
He didn’t go easy like she thought he would and she was loving it. It was like he was starving and the only thing that would satisfy the hunger was her.
Her body tingled and breathing became harder with each mini orgasm he gave her, she’d never had ones this strong before and she wasn’t done yet. Just like he’d done for her, Mae didn’t hold back on letting him know just how good it felt. She was enjoying every second. She grabbed a fist full of bedding and his hair when he pushed two fingers inside of her. It felt like he was in tune with her body and knew everything she needed.
When the ball of release coiling inside her finally exploded, she came hard. So hard that Taehyung had to use all his strength to hold her down with his arms, so that she wouldn’t squeeze his head or wiggle away. She came so hard that her cries of pleasure turned into whispers and noises when her voice gave out.
Once Taehyung was sure she’d completely finished, he kissed his way back up her torso. “Are you okay?” he softly asked. Mae, unable to find words, just nodded her head. He chuckled when he looked at the woman lying underneath him. Her eyes were closed and she had a satisfied smile on her face as she tried to settle her breathing. “I think we should get cleaned up and get some sleep.”
Mae’s eyes snapped open, “What? Why?” she asked with a pout.
“Because you look exhausted.”
“It’s not my fault you made me cum so hard I saw stars. Hell, even the small ones were better than any orgasim I’ve ever had.”
A smile tugged at Taehyung’s lips before he leaned down and gently kissed her. “We’ve got plenty of time, Mae,” he whispered, rubbing his nose against her’s. “We won’t stop until I’ve completed every fantasy and dream of me you’ve ever had.”
“That might take a while. The list keeps getting longer,” she whispered back, voice in a flirtatious tone she didn’t even recognize as her own. “Are you sure you want to stick around that long?”
“I’m not going anywhere, Mae.”
Mae’s heart skipped when Taehyung kissed her. This kiss was different. It was filled with so much emotion. Emotions that the two of them were too afraid to say out loud.

Her two month trip turned into a permanent stay thanks to covid lockdown. A friendly neighbor turned best friend, who just so happened to be part of the biggest music group in the world. A drunken night that changed her life forever.
Chapter 22
A painfully full bladder and the sound of buzzing woke Mae from her peaceful sleep. She didn’t know how long she’d been asleep but judging by the moonlight coming through the window, it had been hours.
She laid there blinking a few times trying to focus her eyes. She wasn’t on the couch, she knew that much. When she inhaled a deep breath through her nose she instantly knew where she was. Her nostrils were filled with the smell of Taehyung’s cologne and shampoo. Mae smiled when she turned her head to the side and saw him peacefully sleeping. She was in his bed and he was softly snoring beside her.
When the buzzing went off again, Mae snapped her head in the direction of the sound. On the nightstand beside her was her phone. She frowned and watched the screen light up. The last time she’d seen it was when Tyler put it in his pocket.
Mae looked back at the man beside her while the memories of what happened at the market flooded back in. Her eyes widened when it vibrated again. She knew exactly who was blowing up her phone.
As slowly and as carefully as she could, Mae slid out of the bed and grabbed her phone before quietly tiptoeing out of his room and over to her own. She opened the group chat that she shared with her three best friends as she shut her bedroom door.
D: Mae!! WTF IS GOING ON?!?!?!
V: Answer the fucking phone woman!!!
K: Please, just let us know if you are okay and safe!
Were just the most recent ones. They’d been texting and calling for the past hour. It was midnight in Korea which meant it was seven in the morning there.
M: I’m here. I’m safe. Sorry, I fell asleep on the way home and I just woke up.
V: FUCKING FINALLY!
K: Do you have any idea how worried we’ve been?
D: What happened??? Why didn’t you call and let us know?
M: I didn’t have my phone. Tyler had it. I thought it was a random stranger that bumped into me, but it was him and he must’ve taken my phone from my jacket. I don’t even know how I have it now. The last time I saw it was when he put it in his pocket.
Mae sighed as she washed her hands after relieving her full bladder. She really wanted to tell them what happened, but then again she desperately needed a shower, she was still in her clothes from earlier and even though she now smelled like Taehyung she could still feel Tyler on her.
She looked in the mirror and ran her tongue across the inside of her lip. “That motherfucker really did smack me,” she said as she felt the swelling and winced when the little scab cracked open. She lifted up the sleeve of her shirt and pouted at the bruises.
Mae jumped when the sound of her phone vibrating echoed loudly throughout the bathroom. A missed call from Kimberleigh and another text from Veronica.
V: ANSWER THE DAMN PHONE GIANT! OR SO HELP ME GOD I WILL COME ACROSS THE OCEAN AND KICK YOUR ASS!
Mae shook her head and laughed. She opened up the camera on her phone to make a video. “You guys can call after you watch this,” she said, recording herself with the mirror. “I’m getting ready to get in the shower because I feel nasty. I’ll talk to you while I’m getting cleaned up, but I wanted to document and show you what he did. He gave me a fat lip,” she said leaning in closer with the phone to show them her swollen lip and the small cut. “He, um, he also left bruises on my arm from when he grabbed me.” She brought the camera to her arm and showed the bruising from his fingers. Mae ended the video. While she waited for them to watch and call she turned on the water and began to undress.
She looked over her naked body in the mirror. She knew there wouldn’t be any other bruising, but just to be safe she wanted to check anyway.
This time when her phone buzzed with a call from Kimberbleigh, she answered and put them on speaker phone.
“Oh, honey,” Kimberleigh’s concerned voice filled the bathroom, “How are you feeling? Are you okay?”
“I’m going to kill that son of a bitch!” Veronica yelled.
“You are going to do no such thing! Sit down and calm the fuck down!” D yelled back.
Mae waited until the commotion on the other end of the phone settled down before she answered. “I’m fine you guys. A little shaken up and sore. But I’m fine.”
“Are you sure?” Kimberleigh asked.
“Yes, I’m sure. I mean for now at least. I might feel different later. But right now I strangely feel lighter. Like I was able to beat the final boss. Although I wish I would’ve punched him. I mean I got a few hits in while we walked. But I really wanted to knock his ass out.”
“We watched a couple of the videos that someone posted online,” D confessed, “We kind of know what happened so you don’t have to tell us anything if you aren’t ready.”
“I’m fine with telling you everything. I would’ve called you all when we got home. But evidently it drained me way more than I thought, hell I’m not even sure how I ended up in the apartment or in Tae’s bed. Also don’t know how my phone ended up here.”
“With everything that’s happening I won’t tease you about being in his bed. But just know that it’s coming,” Veronica said as Mae stepped into the shower.
Mae talked to her three friends over the phone as she washed away the sweat and stress from her body, along with the feeling of Tyler’s hand from her arm. She might have scrubbed the area a little harder and longer than she should’ve, but she wasn’t satisfied until the feeling was gone.
An hour later she was clean, energized, and saying her goodbyes to the girls as she dug out something to wear. While she was brushing her hair, Mae’s stomach started demanding food. She pouted looking down at it and realizing she hadn’t eaten anything in twelve hours. Then she remembered the hotteok she’d bought before everything went to hell and her stomach growled again.
Mae slowly opened her door and peeked her head out, looking up and down the hall for any sign of Taehyung. She was wearing only shorts and a tank top; she didn’t want to dig anymore to find something to cover herself and all her blankets were in the living room on the couch.
When she saw that his bedroom door was still closed, she exited her room and tiptoe-sprinted to the couch, grabbing one of her blankets and draping it over her shoulders before going to the kitchen.
Sitting on the island next to the bag that she recognized from the fabric store was a small container with a note that was written in Taehyung’s mother’s handwriting. “Mae’s hotteok. There’s food in the fridge, but knowing our daughter, she’ll want these as soon as possible. Don’t eat all of these at once.”
Mae let out a small laugh, grabbing three and placing them on a paper towel. She went to the fridge for a bottle of water, then got her bag of swatches, before going back to the living room and sitting on the floor between the coffee table and the couch. She was wide awake so she might as well get some stuff done.
┗━•❃°•°❀°•°❃•━┛
Mae whimpered in sadness when her fingers hit the empty paper towel that once held her favorite snack. She promised herself that once they were gone she’d go back to bed and try to get more sleep. But she didn’t want to at the moment. She’d gotten a lot of things accomplished and was currently trying to narrow down her color scheme.
“How long have you been awake?”
Mae squinted, looking away from her bright computer screen to the direction of Taehying’s voice in the dark room. “A couple of hours,” she lowered the laptop screen and watched his hair bounce as he sleepily walked closer to her.
“Why didn’t you wake me?”
“I didn’t know how long you’d been asleep,” She answered as he crawled across the couch to sit behind her. “What are you doing?”
“I’m joining you.” Her brows scrunched together when she saw Taehyung’s legs settle on either side of her.
Mae was thankful for the blanket covering her when goosebumps spread across her body at the feeling of his body heat seeping through the blanket. “Are you comfortable?”
“Yes,” his answer was simple as he leaned back against the couch and scrolled through his phone.
The two of them sat in silence for hours, Taehyung on the couch busy doing things on his phone and Mae sitting comfortably on the floor, nestled between his legs as she looked between the decor on her computer and the swatches of color beside her.
“OW! What the hell was that for?” Taehyung quickly sat up and rubbed the part of his leg that Mae had pulled the hair of.
“You weren’t answering me. So I needed to get your attention somehow.”
“You could’ve done it a little less harshly,” He grumbled, leaning forward to put his phone on the table. “You have my full attention now, Wife. What did you need?” he asked, resting his chin on the top of her head.
Mae rolled her eyes before asking her question again, “I’ve narrowed it down to these two, and I need your input.”
Taehyung placed his hands on her shoulders while he looked between the two swatches sitting beside her computer and then at the screen that had handcrafted wooden display cases. “Wood ones? Why not go with the usual metal or plastic?”
“I like the look of the wooden ones better,” she shrugged, “Plus they would give the place an amazing wood smell.”
“But won't it take a few months if not more to make?”
“Some pieces will, some won’t. The Eomeonis and I picked a set that was almost finished.”
He brought his face to the side of her’s, “The Eomeonis?” he asked, looking at her with a mixture of confusion and amusement.
Mae leaned away from him so she could see him, “Don’t give me that look. They’re the ones that came up with the name.”
Taehyung chuckled and turned his attention back to the table. “This one. I like the seafoam color with the grey.” he said pointing at the piece of fabric.
“Really? Are you sure?” She questioned, sitting back in her original position.
“Yeah, why? Did you like the other one better?”
“No, that’s the one I was leaning towards.”
“Always go with your gut, Mae.” Taehyung picked up his phone and leaned back.
The apartment fell silent again while Mae taped the piece of cloth to the design section of her binder.
“Hey, Tae?” Mae spoke after a few minutes, breaking the silence.
“Hmm?”
“What happened after I fell asleep?”
“I had one of your guards carry you. Every time we tried to wake you, you just kept snuggling closer to me. By the way, have you been sleeping on the couch? When I opened the guest room door for him the bed was still covered in boxes.”
“Yes, I have,” Mae confessed. “With everything going on I haven’t had time to unpack my things and organize. And I didn’t feel right sleeping in your bed.”
“My bed is always open for you to sleep in, Mae. Even if I’m not in it.” Taehyung put his phone on the couch and brought his legs up to cross them behind Mae when she tapped them so that she could get up. “My phone was ringing like crazy by the time we got you in my bed. Both my parents and the company were trying to get a hold of me. I called my parents back first, I knew it would be better if I went to the company to explain what happened, so I had them come over in case you woke up. After they showed up I went to the company to talk with them, along with the two security guards that were with you. One of the men from the embassy was there, that’s how I got your phone back. I immediately gave it to the head of security to make sure Tyler didn’t do anything to it. He didn’t find anything.” he cocked his head to the side and watched Mae while she tried to stretch without opening the blanket she’d been hiding under.
“What?” Mae asked when she realized she was being watched.
“Are you naked under that blanket?”
“What? No!”
“Then why are you hiding under it?”
“Because I haven’t had time to do laundry. I was going to do it today but all hell broke loose. The only thing I had to put on was shorts and a tank top.”
“I’ve seen you in those before…”
“But I have nothing on underneath them.”
“Why are you looking at me like I should know that?” he gave her an amused look. “Also, I’ve seen you in pictures wearing lingerie and you wore a bikini while we were in Jeju.”
“Those were different. Precautions were taken so that nothing showed while I was getting the pictures taken and the bikini kept me well covered.”
“I don’t get what you’re saying,” Taehyung pushed, trying to egg her on.
“Ugh! I have no bra or underwear on! The slightest chill and I’ll be able to cut glass. The shorts are a little small and if I move the wrong way you’ll be seeing a side of me no man has seen in years.” Mae squinted her eyes at Taehyung when she saw the satisfied look on his face. She’d fallen right into his trap. “I’m going back to bed!” she said storming down the hall.
“Wait for me!” he yelled, jumping off the couch and following her.

Her two month trip turned into a permanent stay thanks to covid lockdown. A friendly neighbor turned best friend, who just so happened to be part of the biggest music group in the world. A drunken night that changed her life forever.
Chapter 21
Mae walked the busy streets of the Gwangjang Market as she visited the various shops and snacked on the delicious street food. This was her little reward for the stressful week she had. She’d just left her realtor after getting the keys to the new official Wander location. She fell in love with the store as soon as she arrived to look at it. The shop was in one of the busier shopping districts and close enough to the Han River that she could see it out of the large windows.
She could see her security team out of the corner of her eye while she looked at some fabric swatches. The two who'd been assigned to her when she’d first gotten back. But there were a few more that’d joined their little group after Taehyung’s live, three days ago. They were trying their best to stay inconspicuous, but Mae could still see them. No one said anything to her about adding more security so she figured it was for training.
The phone vibrating in her pocket drew Mae’s attention from the small piece of fabric she’d stuck on her “like pile”. She smiled as she read the congratulation text from both Taehyung and Jimin’s parents . But the smile soon fell when she looked at the unread message she sent to Taehyung letting him know she got the place. The last time she heard from him was the day after his livestream. He texted and said that his schedule would be packed for the next few days and he would try to make time to check in, but it wasn’t looking good.
Mae took the bag of swatches she was given and thanked the woman who’d helped her, before she let her stomach and her nose lead her to her next stop.
“Would either of you like a hotteok?” Mae asked her bodyguards from under her mask, when they stepped in behind her as she walked with the noisy crowd of people.
“No thank you,” they both said in unison.
“I forgot you two are robots,” Mae quipped sarcastically, earning a chuckle from the two men.
She sped up a little once her eyes landed on a vendor who was selling her favorite snack. She’d been so busy since she returned, she hadn’t been able to go out and get any, so she was going to buy enough to put herself in a hotteok coma.
Mae looked around aimlessly while she waited in line. She could see her guards a few shops away as they pretended to look at the things that were being sold. Just on the other side of the hotteok stand were two others who were sitting at one of the small restaurants eating while they looked over the crowd.
Once she was done ordering two of every kind and paid, Mae stepped to the side as she waited for her assortment of goodies to be ready.
She was jostled forward a little when she was bumped from behind.
“Sorry,” she barely heard the man say.
“It’s o-” Mae stopped talking when the man walked away and disappeared in the crowd.
She grabbed her order and looked to her left again. Something suddenly felt off. She glanced at her two guards and mouthed the word “home”. The men nodded their heads and started walking toward her as she turned to leave the stand.
The crowd around her suddenly became too much as the mans’ voice echoed in her head. Something about it was familiar; she couldn’t put her finger on it but it sparked something in her she hadn’t felt in almost three years. Anxiety.
Her steps quickened and she desperately wanted away from everyone as her fight or flight instinct took over her body. She needed safety. She needed to be around people she trusted. She needed to feel protected.
Mae froze and looked around for her two guards, hell at that point she’d take the ones that she wasn’t supposed to know were there. She just needed someone, and right then they were the only people she could trust and feel safe with.
As she was looking she felt someone grab a hold of her arm and pull her with the flow of the crowd. She thought it was one of the guards, she desperately needed it to be one of the guards. When she saw the worried eyes of not only her personal escorts, but the other two as they tried to fight their way through the crowd to get to her, Mae turned to look at who held her arm and her stomach dropped.
Tyler.
His hat and mask covered his face but she could see his light brown birthmark just below his ear. The birthmark that she used to think was cute. But now it filled her body with panic. She tried to tug her arm out of his grip but he just held onto her tighter. The pain of his fingers digging into her bicep sent another wave of anxiety through her. This was the first time he’d been physical with her.
Mae looked behind her again trying to find the security guards, but Tyler was walking so fast it seemed like they kept getting further away. She scanned the overly crowded area. She knew there had to be more than just the four of them. But her frantic eyes didn’t find anyone.
When the slight breeze and sunlight from the entrance of the covered market hit her, a voice shouted out in her head. A voice that made her stand a little taller as she dug deep for courage and used everything in her to force the anxiety and panic to the side.
Taehyung’s father’s voice was demanding and loud. “Do not let him see your fear, daughter. He thinks you’re weak, but you are not. If he approaches you, act like you don’t know who he is. Act like his presence does nothing to you.”
Mae looked at the bright afternoon sun that was getting closer, lowered her mask and took a breath of fresh air. “Who are you? What do you want?” she asked, trying to take her arm back again.
“Don’t play dumb, Mae.” Tyler answered, tugging her roughly to the side to avoid a group of people walking slower.
“I honestly have no clue who you are. Are you from the company?” she wanted to piss him off enough that he’d stop walking and maybe even take off his mask.
“Will you stop asking questions?”
“No, I have the right to know who you are and why the hell you won't let go of my arm.” This time she grabbed his wrist and tried to release herself. Tyler's grip got even tighter as he walked faster, causing her to stumble a little at the change of speed.
“I see you’ve gotten stronger since you left me.”
“I left you? Who the fuck are you?” Mae squinted when the last pull of her arm brought her out into the open sunny street. “I have never left anyone in my life. Now let me fucking go before I get the police.” she removed her hand from around his wrist and patted down her pockets to try and find her phone.
“Are you looking for this?” Tyler asked, holding her phone with his other hand. “I’ll keep a hold of it for now.” she watched as he put it in his pocket. “I’ll get rid of it before we leave. You won’t need it after today.”
Something in her snapped at his words and she began to hit him as hard as she could, wherever she could.
“I don’t know who you are, but you better let go of me you worthless piece of shit!”
Tyler abruptly stopped, swung her to stand in front of him and took off his mask. “I’m the piece of shit? You’re the one who disappeared on me without a word. I’m the piece of shit after everything I did for you? The life I gave you!”
Mae laughed, she couldn’t help it, and when she saw the mixture of confusion and anger on his face she laughed even harder. “The life you gave me? You mean the life where you cut me off from everyone who cared for me? The life that you fucking controlled every minute of? The life where you made it your mission to make me feel like shit everyday? The life where I played the role of your brainless fiance while you whored around?”
Mae hadn’t realized a crowd had formed around them until she heard the gasps when Tyler slapped her.
“You’re one to speak,” he hissed, stepping closer to her. “Running off to a foreign country and fucking the first piece of shit that talked to you.”
Mae clenched her fist at her side. She wanted to hit him. She wanted him to feel the pain he’d caused her. But she knew that’s what he wanted and if she did he’d use it against her somehow.
“Don’t you dare speak about my husband! You know nothing about our relationship and what the past three years have been like!”
“He’s not here so I’m assuming it’s not going very well. He must not have liked the truth he read in my interview.”
“That was you?” She brought her hand to her mouth as she faked being shocked at his confession. “Why would you do that? How did you know about everything?” She hoped she’d poked his ego enough that he’d expose himself. Right now he was so blinded he didn’t even notice the crowd. Or her security team who’d finally broken through the herd of people with some police officers behind him.
“Of course it was me. Who the fuck else would it be? I’ve had people searching for you since you left Connecticut. Imagine my surprise when you popped up married to some Korean Idol. Do you have any idea how easy it is to find personal information about him online? And then your information started spreading like wildfire once his creepy little stalker fan girls found it.”
“So does that make you my creepy stalker fan boy?”
“You know, I liked you better when you kept your mouth shut and did everything I said.”
“What about the annulment? Why did you make that up?”
“I didn’t make that up, my sweet Mae. He really filed for one. That poor secretary was so desperate for attention. Just like you were. All it took was me making the same promises I made you and she started talking and gave me all the information I needed. Wait,” Tyler cocked his head to the side as he thought. “Is that why your so-called husband isn’t here? He left you didn’t he? You really can’t keep a man can you? Even when you get him drunk enough to marry you.”
Mae opened her mouth to speak but was cut off when she felt someone press up against her back and a familiar scent filled her nose, causing her body to relax.
“I think you’re done talking to my wife now.” Taehyung’s voice was polite yet demanding.
The evil smirk that was on Tyler’s face quickly fell when he not only saw Taehyung but also realized the crowd that was standing around them. The crowd who were now witnesses to everything he’d done and said.
Mae tried her hardest to fight the smile that was threatening show when one of the men from the restaurant stepped up behind Tyler.
“Tyler Johnson?” the man asked, getting his attention.
“Yes, who are you?”
“I’m from the US Embassy. I think you should come with me and my colleague.” The man’s partner opened up his jacket and pulled out a pair of handcuffs.
“We should get out of here,” the taller of Mae’s bodyguards said, stepping in front of her to block her view of Tyler and his protest.
Mae looked down at her hand when she felt Taehyung’s finger intertwined with hers, “Let's go home,” he said softly in her ear. She turned to look at him, nodded and allowed him to lead her through the crowd to the car waiting on the street. “Are you okay?” he asked once they were safely in the car.
“I think I will be, yes.” she said with a sigh after buckling herself in.
The car fell quiet as the driver slowly made his way through the crowd. Five minutes had passed before Mae looked at the man next to her and finally asked, “What are you doing here? You weren’t supposed to be back for two more days.”
Taehyung didn’t look at her. He just reached over and took her hand in his again. “The company called my manager earlier in the week. Evidently, your security team was concerned. They said they’d seen a man matching Tyler’s description on more than one occasion following you guys around. So they assigned a few more people to keep an eye out. They made a positive ID the day I went live. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you. I only found out when I went to take the phone we use to livestream back. I told him to adjust my schedule because I was booking the next flight here. I wanted to surprise you.”
“I mean, you did.”
Taehyung turned to see Mae smiling at him. “That’s not the way I wanted it to happen though.” He shook his head. “I’m glad you got to stand up to him.”
“Me too, it felt almost freeing.”
“Almost?”
Mae adjusted the bags at her feet. “It would’ve been more freeing if I’d punched him in his ugly ass face.”
Taehyung laughed. “That would’ve been nice to see.” The smile on his face faded when he saw the small cut on her lip. “Does it hurt?” he asked, cupping her cheek with his free hand and gently touching her swollen lip with his thumb.
“A little. So does my arm.” Mae adjusted in her seat so that she could pull up her sleeve and examine her arm. The bicep that was between them had four little bruises forming on the skin from Tyler’s fingers.
Taehyung sucked in a sharp breath, “I’m going to kick that bastard's ass.”
“Not until after I do,” she said, pulling her sleeve back down.
Mae stared out the window as the car ride became quiet once again. Judging by the traffic they still had a while before they got back to Taehyung’s apartment. She felt herself begin to get tired the more her body relaxed. The stress and anxiety had completely drained her. Without a second thought she placed her head on Taehyung’s shoulder and closed her eyes.
“Get some sleep, Mae. I’ll wake you up when we get home,” he whispered against the top of her head before he kissed it and adjusted so that she could lay more comfortably.

Chapter 20
Mae listened to Taehyung talk with ARMY while she went through the last of the listings that the realtor sent over. The past week had been busy to say the least. She and Taehyung’s mom, along with the security team the company hired, would spend their days checking out different locations for Wander.
Her nights were late and her days started early. She was tired and wanted nothing more than to sleep in her own bed, but her things were still packed away because she hadn’t had time to do anything.
When Taehyung called a few hours ago he mentioned that he planned to go live. So once again when she found herself awake and stressed in the middle of the night, she decided to turn it on. That was almost two hours ago.
“Everyone,” Taehyung said as Mae finished up her pros and cons list. “Before I end this, we need to have a discussion.”
For the first time since she turned on the live Mae put down her papers and looked at her phone. Just one look into his eyes as he thought of what to say next, Mae knew what he was going to do.
“I’ve read your comments, and I’ve seen your questions.”
“Oh, this should be good.” Mae chuckled, then opened a new tab on her computer to bring up the stream before turning it off of her phone.
“I’m not the only person this involves, and I’m not sure what she’ll feel comfortable with me saying.”
When Taehyung paused to read the fast moving chat, Mae took the opportunity to send him a quick text. “I’m watching. Say whatever you feel comfortable saying.” When he picked up his phone and smiled at the camera, she quickly texted back. “No to whatever just came across your mind. Remember you’re live.”
Taehyung laughed before going back to talking with his fans. “We haven’t publicly come out and said anything. Just as we were getting ready to let everyone know, there was an article released. So let me clear up a few things. I met Mae roughly two years ago through a friend. When I met her she wasn’t with anyone nor was she engaged. She’d ended it with that person before she even came to Seoul a year prior. I’m not going to say what happened between them, that’s not my story to tell. She’d been living in Seoul for almost a year when I met her. I asked her out two months later. She was hesitant at first because of that previous relationship. It took me a few tries before she said yes,” Taehyung snorted.
Mae cocked an eyebrow at the story he was telling. “I think this asshole rehearsed this,” she laughed.
“Our marriage wasn’t a ‘drunken mistake.’ I proposed to her on our one year anniversary.” Taehyung paused and read the chat. “No, I'm not going to tell you how I did it,” he laughed. “I’ll just say this, it involved a picnic and someone we both very much adore carrying the ring. Anyways,” he said, taking a drink. “I’m not really sure what came over us on our trip to Jeju. We were already in the process of planning our wedding for next year. So we weren’t in a hurry. When we walked by the chapel, after our date at the Jazz Club, we both just looked at each other and had the same idea. So we did it. Now for the annulment papers. I’m the one that had them done just in case. I know we both made the decision to get married that day. But Mae, being the independent woman she is, had a few things she wanted to do before we married. We’d discussed that when we first got engaged and I guess while we were in the moment we forgot that. So I went to my lawyer’s and had him fill out the paperwork just in case.” Taehyung adjusted in his seat and sighed. “I’m not a perfect person. Nobody is. Mae was upset with what I did. She had every right to be. If I was in her place I would’ve been too. While she was here we talked and I immediately called my lawyer and had him get rid of it. I don’t know how that person got the information. But I want to officially let you all know that I am married. Mae is a beautiful, kind, loving, goofy woman. She makes me very happy.”
Mae tilted her head and made a mental note to ask him when he came up with all of this the next time she talked to him.
Taehyung read out one of the many questions in chat, “Do I love her? Yes,” Mae’s eyes widened and her heart stopped when she saw the serious look on his face as he stared directly into the camera. “I fell in love with her the first time I saw her. I fell in love with her when the first words she spoke to me were a jumbled mess.”
Mae let out a small laugh and whispered, “Jimin container kimchi mom empty.”
“I fell in love with her the first time she smiled. I fell in love with her the first time she laughed. I fall in love with her more and more everyday.”
She sat there silently and stared into Taehyung’s eyes through the screen. Was he really telling the truth? And why did the thought of Kim Teahyung being in love with her bring butterflies to her stomach and bring a stupid smile to her face?
Mae was pulled out of her thoughts when Taehyung’s laughter filled the silent apartment. “Don’t worry guys, she knows that my heart also belongs to you, ARMY. My heart is big enough to love both of you.”
Mae waited until Taehyung finished his goodbyes and then texted him. “You’ve got some explaining to do, Kim Taehyung.”
It took awhile before he replied, she figured it was because he was giving a manager back their phone. When he did she was cleaning up for bed.
Mae, have you slept yet?
Don’t you weasel your way out of this, Tae. I have a lot of questions.
Haha, I’m not trying to weasel my way out of anything. And I’m taking that as a no. Get some sleep, Mae. It’s late and you get grouchy when you’re tired.
I do not!
Whatever you say, sunshine. Get some sleep and I’ll explain everything later. I promise.
Ugh, fine.
Goodnight, Mae. Have sweet dreams of me.
Mae rolled her eyes and put her phone on the charger before curling up on the couch. Her plan for tomorrow was to get answers and attempt to get her room set up. Or at least arranged so she didn’t have to climb over things to get to her bathroom. It was the only day she didn’t have things planned and the guys were due back in five days.

Mae always wanted to go to South Korea and visit all the places her Aunt and Uncle used to tell her stories about. So after catching her fiancè cheating, she did just that. Her two month trip turned into a permanent stay thanks to covid lockdown. A friendly neighbor turned best friend, who just so happened to be part of the biggest music group in the world. A drunken night that changed her life forever.
Chapter 19
Mae laid on Taehyung’s couch and scrolled through twitter. The last time she was on the site was after she and Tyler moved to New York. Her having her own social media accounts wasn’t something he was too fond of, so all of her’s were deleted while he stayed active on his.
She hadn’t really thought about opening an account of her own until she and Benny got to talking on the plane. They were discussing how Mae wanted to stop by a phone store and change her number before they went to the company to check in. There was no longer a need to endure the random phone calls and messages now that everyone knew. It would make her life a little less stressful.
While Mae was making a list of people she would need to notify about the change, he asked if she had any accounts connected to it. She informed him that she didn’t have any social media because it was something she wasn’t allowed in her previous relationship and she hadn’t given it much thought after it ended. He told her she should consider looking into opening some and getting to know the platforms. If not for personal use then at least for Wander. Yes she could always hire someone to run it for her, but it would be best if she knew how to do it so that she could keep an eye on things.
So when she couldn’t sleep she decided to give it a try. With a little help from the girls she was able to set up accounts for both Instagram and Twitter. There were some platforms here in Korea she knew she should do, but they wouldn’t be able to help her so she decided those could wait.
Mae rolled to her side while she mindlessly scrolled through her timeline, looking at all the things her three best friends had interacted with. She smiled and snorted out a laugh when a picture of her and Taehyung at the airport popped up. The two of them were hugging while they waited for Benny and Antony to unload their bags. To onlookers it looked like a couple saying their goodbyes. But in all actuality, Taehyung was whining under his mask about her falling asleep while he helped his manager carry the food out last night, and Mae laughed under her mask that it was his fault; he was the one who made her get comfortable under the covers and pretend to be asleep.
That morning when Mae woke up Taehyung was gone to a photoshoot, so after getting ready she gathered all her things and went to the house to spend time with her friends before she needed to leave for the airport. Mae chatted with the three of them as they worked and got a chance to freshen up some of her business skills.
Taehyung had shown up unexpectedly as the women were saying their goodbyes. The hug that she and Veronica were exchanging was quickly ditched as Veronica pushed Mae to the side so that she could get a better look of Taehyung. The three women stood on the porch and stared at Taehyung who was dressed in a pair of brown dress pants and a white shirt that was unbuttoned just enough to see where his throat and his chest met. In the words of Kimberleigh, “he looked like he just stepped out of a K-drama.” It took all the strength Mae had to not let her knees buckle when a coy smile formed on his lips at their reaction.
D was the first to snap out of the trance he had them under. She not so gently nudged Mae’s shoulder with her’s, causing the taller woman to stumble forward a little and stutter for a few seconds before she finally straightened out her thoughts enough to ask what he was doing there.
His answer was a simple “to take you to the airport.” But after Mae finished her goodbyes and they were in the car, Taehyung let out a sigh and gave her the full reason. His manager had gotten a call from the security who’d left for the airport about two hours ago to do an early check in. The place was swarming with fansites, seasanges, and press. Taehyung figured it would be a great time to “show how real their relationship was” and hopefully his appearance would distract most of them so that the crowd wouldn’t stress her out more than the flight already did.
They came up with a plan. Taehyung would walk her as far as he could and then the two of them would hug as they said their goodbyes. What wasn’t part of the plan however was when he stopped her from pulling away from their hug. He wasn’t able to walk as far as either of them would’ve liked, hell he wasn’t even able to enter the airport, which meant that Mae would have to walk through it with the protection of Benny and Antony. She could see the worry in his eyes. She wanted to tell him that she’d be fine, she trusted her bodyguards and knew that they’d do everything in their power to protect her. But the longer she stared into his chocolate colored orbs, she realized it wasn’t just the people yelling their names and waiting to shove each other to get the best picture that he was worried about.
Tyler. They still didn’t know where he was and with her travel plans being released, there was a good chance he was still in Korea.
Taehyung sighed when Benny told them they needed to go in. He made her promise to be careful and not to go out unless she had her bodyguards with her. She reassured him that she would be as safe as she could be, then she did something that made his worried eyes turn into amused ones. Mae took a deep breath, removed both of their masks and kissed him. It wasn’t much, just a small one, before she quickly returned the covering and walked away. She was thankful for the mask as it hid the blush on her cheeks while she was hurried through the large group of picture hungry people.
Mae groaned and put the phone on the coffee table. “I’m such an idiot,” she closed her eyes, kicking her legs and arms like a child throwing a tantrum.
┗━•❃°•°❀°•°❃•━┛
Mae groaned and turned her face away from whatever nudged her and tried to wake her from her peaceful sleep. She hadn’t fallen asleep until just before sunrise, when the jet lag had finally taken over.
Her eyes sprung open when she felt something small, round, cold and wet touch her cheek followed by a lick. “Yeontan?” she looked at the tiny furry dog, with wide confused eyes. “What the heck are you doing here?” she laughed when he nudged her arm for pets now that she was awake. “You sneaky puppers.” Mae sat up a little and placed him in her lap so that she could pet him. “But seriously. How did you get here?”
“He drove.” Taehyung’s mom said sarcastically, causing Mae to jump.
“Eomeoni?” Mae turned to the older woman behind her on the couch who was holding back laughter.
“Good morning, Mae.” the older woman didn’t look up from whatever she was knitting. “Did you sleep well?”
“I did once I finally fell asleep, yes.” Mae scooped Yeontan in her arms and adjusted so that she could see Taehyung’s mom better.
“The time change is a bit of a pain in the butt isn’t it?”
“Yup,” Mae watched as the tiny furball's eyes started to close while she petted his head. She didn’t want to admit the real reason why she couldn’t sleep to herself, so there was no way she was going to tell the older woman that she couldn’t sleep because she felt lonely without Taehyung next to her. “How long have the two of you been here?”
Taehyung’s mother sighed and looked at her watch. “Close to an hour.”
“Really? Why didn’t you wake me?”
“I tried. Taehyung called me because he couldn’t get a hold of you. So I packed up Yeontan and headed over. We tried to wake you for a good five minutes before he gave up and curled up beside you. Once he became useless I called Taehyung and let him know that you were sleeping.” She put down her knitting needles and picked up her phone. “I even sent him this cute picture with the two of you snuggling.”
“Aww, look at us.” Mae pouted before giving her back her phone. “Are those baby booties?”
“Yes they are.” Taehyung’s mother said proudly holding up the one she’d already finished.
“Those are adorable! Are you knitting them just to knit or are they for someone?”
“They’re for someone.”
“Who?” The older woman didn’t say anything, she just looked at Mae through the corner of her eyes and smiled. “Eomeoni!” Mae said a little louder than she meant to, causing the dog to jump. “I haven’t…we haven’t…Eomeoni!”
“Not yet, but I have a feeling you will soon.” Taehyung’s mother’s head fell back as she laughed at Mae while she stuttered in frustration. “Calm down and go get dressed. We have a lot of things to do,” she said after she finally stopped laughing.
Mae gently picked up Yeontan and put him on the couch before she got up. “Where are we going?”
“First food. Then we are going location scouting.”
“Scouting for what?”
“For Wander. You’ve been given the green light to start the process.”

Her two month trip turned into a permanent stay thanks to covid lockdown. A friendly neighbor turned best friend, who just so happened to be part of the biggest music group in the world. A drunken night that changed her life forever.
Chapter 18
Mae opened her eyes and stared into the darkness. Her heart was racing and she was breathing heavily. She squeezed her legs closer together trying to calm the throbbing feeling coming from her vagina.
When an arm tightened around her midsection it took every ounce of control she had to not smack Taehyung, the demon who once again invaded her dreams. She slowly removed his arm before carefully getting out of bed. The last thing she wanted was for him to wake up to see her legs shaking while she walked to the bathroom.
Mae softly shut the door then slid down. “What am I going to do?” she put her head in her hands and whispered.
She sat on the cold tile of the still dark bathroom and went over her options on how to take care of her current situation. She could run water in hopes of muffling out any noise she would make while she took care of the throbbing mess the dream left her in. But the hotel room was small, which meant that there was a chance it would wake up Taehyung.
She leaned her head back and groaned, before standing up and turning on the bathroom light. “Stupid brain. Why are you doing this to me now? Of all the times you decide to give me a fucking sex dream, you chose to do it now while I’m sleeping in the same fucking bed as him?” she groaned, turning on the water to wash her face hoping to clear her mind.
She only had one safe option, and that was to suck it up and go back to bed. The chances of him hearing something and waking up were too high. She wasn’t in the mood to risk it.
After a quick pee, another splash of cold water to her face after washing her hands and one final pep talk. She turned off the bathroom light, took a deep breath and exited the bathroom.
“Is everything ok?”
Mae froze halfway on the bed, “Ummm, yeah,” she cleared her throat. “I just needed to pee. Go back to sleep,” she answered before climbing under the covers.
“You know,” Taehyung rolled onto his stomach, “Jungkook was right. You do talk in your sleep and moan. A lot!” Mae laid there quietly staring at the ceiling, mortified and thankful for the semi dark room. “You move around too. I had to hold you down with my arm because you kept rubbing up against me.”
Mae laughed in embarrassment and covered her face. “I am so sorry, Tae.”
“Don’t be. It was kinda hot.”
“Go back to sleep!” She nudged his side and rolled to face the opposite way.
The room fell silent for a moment, before she felt Taehyung move closer.
“Hey, Mae?” he asked in a whisper.
“Hmm?”
“Did you get everything taken care of in the bathroom?”
Mae turned just enough to see him propped up on one elbow behind her. “Did I take care of what in the bathroom?”
“You know,” he said, moving his middle and ring finger, up and down simultaneously.
“Kim Taehyung!” Mae found herself laughing again as she slapped his hand away. “What makes you think I went in there to do that?”
“I heard you in there arguing with yourself.”
“You shouldn’t listen in on other people's private conversations. It’s very rude.”
“Well did you?”
Mae huffed and laid on her back so she could look at him better. “Why would I tell you if I did?”
“Because,I’m your husband, and I would gladly lend a hand or more if needed.”
“Is that your way of letting me know you want to have sex with me?” Mae chuckled.
“All I’m saying is that in a way it’s my fault you’re aroused right now. So if you ever need help relieving said arousal I’m here.”
Mae stared at the man next to her. She couldn’t quite see his face so she couldn’t tell if he was being serious or not. So she thought about it before she spoke. On one hand, she didn’t know if she was ready to let someone that close to her. But on the other hand, the hand that looked more enticing, she wondered if Taehyung could really make her feel as good as he did in her dreams.
“Okay.” Mae blurted out, shocking the two of them.
“What?”
“We might as well. Like you said, in a way this is all your fault. So lets have sex. Plus I want to know if real life Tae is as good as dream Tae.”
“I’m not having sex with you.” Taehyung rolled over and faced the opposite side.
“But you said…”
“Yeah, and that was before I realized you wanted me so badly.”
“You’re an asshole.”
“You can call me whatever you want. At Least I now know how bad you want me.”
┗━•❃°•°❀°•°❃•━┛
Mae laughed when Taehyung fell face first onto the bed. “Busy day?”
“Yes,” she barely heard his muffled answer.
The past three days had been hectic for Taehyung and the rest of the members. Their days started early, schedules filled with photoshoots and interviews. Mae was usually asleep when he’d leave in the mornings and when he’d get back late at night. Though Taehyung made sure to check up on her throughout the day, this had been the longest they’d seen each other.
“How did the photoshoot go?” Mae asked, moving her laptop from her lap. His only answer was him raising one of his arms to give her a thumbs up. “Good,” she chuckled, “And how did the interviews go?”
Taehyung lifted his head and looked at her. “You know what I don’t understand about interviewers here?” He folded his arms and rested his chin on them, “Why don’t they ever do a second of research? I mean how hard is it to do a quick internet search. Also, why do they insist on asking the same questions over and over? Who do you want to collab with? What is your favorite American food? Ask us real questions, the same questions you’d ask any other celebrity. Not the ones you’d ask a kid.” Taehyung let out a frustrated groan and put his face back on the bed. “Ugh, it’s so annoying!”
Mae shook her head and lightly laughed at his complaining. “I was getting ready to order something for dinner, are you hungry?”
“Yes.”
“Would you like for me to order you some food too?”
“Yes, please.”
“Why don’t you go take a nice relaxing shower while I do it?”
“Fine,” Taehyung whined, sliding off the bed.
Once Mae heard him turn on the shower she got up to get the menu from the table. Ordering food took a few extra steps than it normally would. The managers and security team were careful about who they let up and if food was ordered she and the guys had to do it through one of them.
Mae had just hung up the phone when she heard the bathroom door open.
She let out a shriek and covered her eyes when she saw Taehyung standing outside the door with only his towel on. “Jesus, Tae. You could’ve at least warned me first.”
“Oh calm down. It’s not like you haven’t seen me in a towel before.” Mae could hear the irritation mixed with playfulness in his voice. “I wanted to tell you something before I get in and forget. I got a call from the company today. They found out how Asshat knew about the annulment.
“What?” Mae asked, uncovering her eyes.
“My lawyer noticed his secretary acting strangely when the company started spending a lot more time there. So he and some of the security team took a look at the cameras. They found her sneaking into the copy room and getting something that’d just printed then hiding it in the waistband of her skirt. When they got on the computer and looked back they found our annulment papers.”
“Why would she do something so carelessly?”
“Evidently, she didn’t know about the cameras in that room and she thought she’d deleted the print order.”
“But why? Why would she do it?”
“Like you’ve been saying, Tyler knows how to get what he wants. Somehow he found out who my lawyer was and set his target on her. He evidently promised her all kinds of things. Including bringing her to America with the promise of marriage and a perfect life.”
“That poor woman.” Mae sat on the corner of the bed. “How much trouble is she in?”
“I don’t know,” Taehyung shrugged. “They are looking for Tyler too, so that they can try and go after him.”
“What do you mean looking?”
“She hasn’t seen or heard from him since the article was released.”
Mae’s stomach dropped “Is he still in South Korea?”
Taehyung’s eyes locked with hers while he carefully squatted in front of her. “They don’t know.”
“Is he here?”
“They don’t know that either.”
“I’m supposed to go back home in a couple of days. I’m supposed to go out with the girls tomorrow. You’re telling me that once again I’m going to be looking over my shoulder?”
“Mae, listen to me,” he put his hand on hers, stopping her from nervously picking at her cuticle. “You’ll have Benny and Antony with you at all times. They’ve even agreed to fly back with you. They won't let anything happen to you. Okay?”
Mae took a deep breath and nodded, “Okay.”
“Remember your plan to act like you have no clue who he is. You’re strong, Mae. A lot stronger than you realize. Plus you’re a happily married woman who could care less about him.”
Mae snorted out a laugh, “Am I now?” she asked, cocking an eyebrow.
He gave her a tight lip smile and nodded, “Extremely happy and madly in love with your husband.”
“Well, husband. Could you please go take your shower. Your towel’s starting to come open.”
Taehyung quickly glanced down and stood up. “Why are you looking down there?” He turned around and fixed his towel.
“It wasn’t looking on purpose. I could see it out of the bottom of my sight.”
“Mmhmm sure.” Taehyung said before walking back to the bathroom. “You’re a perverted woman, Mae.”
Mae stood up when there was a knock on the door. “I am not a pervert, Tae. You’re the one who came out freeballing under a towel and then squatted in front of me.” She sassed, walking past the bathroom door.
“Just admit you wanted to see my Taeconda.”
“If I wanted to see you naked I would’ve already done it,” she yelled back before looking through the peephole.
Mae’s cheeks redend when she opened the door to see one of the managers standing there with their food and trying his hardest not to laugh. “Thank you,” she said shyly, taking the food from him and closing the door.
“They heard everything, didn't they?”
“What the hell do you think?” Mae couldn’t help but laugh when Taehyung’s laughter filled the hotel room.

Chapter 16
“Why aren’t you sleeping?”
Mae jumped and squealed when Taehyung’s raspy voice broke through the quiet dark hotel room.
She placed her hand over her beating heart and put her head on the table, “Jesus, Tae. You scared the shit out of me.”
“Sorry,” Taehyung snickered and picked up his phone. “Mae, it’s five in the morning. Come back to bed.”
“I’m not tired,” she said, putting her phone back into place so that she could use its light. “You should go back to sleep though. You’re the one who sang and danced on stage for hours. And you need your rest for tonight.”
“You are tired. Even from across the room I can see that.” Taehyung sighed, turning on the lamp beside her.
“Why did you turn on the light?” she poked out her bottom lip and pouted while he sat in the chair next to her.
“The dim light from your screen isn’t enough for whatever it is that you are doing.” Taehyung scrunched his eyebrows when he saw the piles of candy, photocards and other trinkets. “What are you doing?”
Mae went back to her sorting, ignoring the amusement in his voice. “I’m going through all the freebies that ARMY gave me at the concert.”
“Why…why do most of these have Jin on them?” he asked, sifting through the cards.
“Because he’s my bias.”
“I’m the one who you married, shouldn’t I be your bias?”
“Drunkenly married and nope.”
Taehyung put a piece of candy in his mouth and continued to look over the stuff on the table as Mae sorted. One of his eyebrows shot up in curiosity when she quickly put a card on the bottom of the pile.
“What was that?”
Mae slapped his hand away when he tried to move the other cards to see it. “Nothing. Shouldn’t you be going back to bed?”
“I will in a little bit. Now what are you hiding?” This time he was quicker and grabbed her wrist, stopping her hand. “Is this a shirtless edit of me?” he asked, examining the card. “What does it say on the back?” Taehyung squinted, trying to read the english, on the back.
Mae pulled her arm away from him and went back to her task. “This wrecker can wreck me anytime.”
Taehyung choked on his saliva, “Does that mean what I think it means?”
“If you think it’s implying that they want to be fucked senseless by their wrecker, then yes.”
“Am I your wrecker?”
“No, Yoongi’s my wrecker. But my three best friends thought it would be funny to give me the bag with your card in it.”
“I’m not sure if I believe that.” Taehyung said, leaning back and crossing his arms.
“Tae, I’ve seen you shirtless plenty of times. You’re even shirtless right now,” she pointed.
“Is that why you haven’t looked at me longer than two seconds?”
She could tell he had a grin on his face without even looking. “That’s one of the reasons, yes.” She said truthfully.
“One of the reasons? What’s the other reason?”
Mae sighed as she sat back in her chair and made eye contact with him. “While I was laying in bed trying to sleep I got to thinking. And the more I thought, the urge to become a petty bitch grew inside of me.”
“Well that’s a side of you I’ve never seen before.”
“Tyler found out about the annulment and about what happened in Jeju, which means he weaseled his way into somebody's trust. Knowing him, he’s sitting somewhere with a drink in hand and a stupid grin on his face. He thinks he won. He thinks he’s made the world around me crash like I did his.”
Taehyung held up a finger, stopping her. “You’re not the one who made his world crash. It was his own fucking fault.” he said and then motioned for her to continue.
“I want so badly to wipe that smile off his face.”
“And how do you plan on doing that?” Taehyung leaned forward, placing his elbows on the table.
“By showing him that this,” she motioned between the two of them, “wasn’t a drunken mistake.”
“But it was…”
“But he doesn’t need to know that. I want him to second guess everything he found out. I want him so pissed off about our happiness that he fucks up, worse than he already has.” Mae straightened up and placed her hands on the table.
“Say no more.” Taehyung said, standing up.
“What are you doing?” Mae watched in confusion as he walked to the bedside table and got his phone.
“I’m going to call my lawyer and tell him to get rid of the annulment.”
Mae ran over to him, stopping him from dialing the number. “Wait, are you sure you don’t want to discuss this more first or wait until we know more information? It was just a suggestion and a kind of fucked up one if you think about it.”
“Nope, no take backs. You said that you wanted to stay married to me. I understand what it involves and I’m ok with it.” Taehyung kissed Mae on the forehead causing her to stand frozen in shock. “Get some sleep, Wife. Tomorrow we start life as a happily married couple.” he said over his shoulder before entering the bathroom and closing the door.
┗━•❃°•°❀°•°❃•━┛
Mae took a deep breath and gave her bodyguard a reassuring nod before the two of them stepped out from the safety of the backstage area and headed toward the suite where her friends were. Today, instead of coming to the venue with the women, she came with Taehyung and the other members. The pictures of her from last night were now all over the internet and everyone agreed it would be safer.
She and Taehyung were brought into an emergency meeting this morning to discuss everything Bighit had found out so far. The information they’d gathered was both good news and bad.
The pictures of Taehyung leaving the house were posted on a known stalkers site. The ones of Mae at the concert on the other hand took a little longer to find, but they ended up finding them all online posted by fan sites and ARMYs. They were one hundred percent sure Tyler hadn’t taken them.
The next set of information made Mae’s stomach drop. Tyler was in Seoul, he’d arrived the day after she landed in California. Which meant when he saw her at the airport he was on his way to South Korea. The asshole was a creature of habit and loved to post his travels on Instagram. Mae didn’t even know he had one, but the security team at the company was smart. When Jimin and Jungkook told them about the threats he made almost three years ago, they kept an eye on him, just in case he tried something. After Mae went to them for help, they became even more cautious of him.
Taehyung was storming out the door and on the phone with his father the moment the two of them were shown a picture of Tyler outside of Mae’s apartment building with the caption “Sorry I missed you.” The company reassured them that they’d checked the cameras and he didn’t get in. But that didn’t matter. Once Taehyung returned to the room he let the man on the screen know that his father would be calling in a few hours and he was going to need help moving Mae’s things out as soon as possible.
“I knew we should’ve moved you out when Jimin moved last year.” he huffed, closing the laptop.
“Tae, it wouldn’t have mattered. That address would’ve been leaked too.” Mae said, trying to calm him down some. Him being upset wasn’t helping her nerves any. Just the thought of there being a chance she could’ve run into Tyler if she hadn’t left for California made her want to vomit.
Taehyung leaned his head back and let out a frustrated sigh, “What does this asshole want?”
“He wants me scared, he wants me to come back begging for him to stop.”
“I wasn’t…” Taehyung’s features softened when he turned his head to look at her.
“I know,” Mae placed her hand on his shoulder and stood up, “You weren’t intending for it to be an actual question. But I needed to say it outloud for myself.”
┗━•❃°•°❀°•°❃•━┛
The women once again left early, but this time it was to avoid the crowd. They were taken through a private exit where an SUV was waiting to take them to a restaurant where they would celebrate the two successful shows with the guys and some of the crew.
“I’m calling it now,” Veronica handed Mae her phone so that she could use the camera to fix her makeup. “Because of this plan, the two of you will find yourselves tangled in the sheets very soon.”
Mae rolled her eyes and tried to keep the phone steady as the car moved. “What makes you so sure?”
“Because there is already this massive ball of sexual energy between the two of you. And if you two are going to play husband and wife, it’s going to eventually pop.”
“She’s right, Mae. I don’t think you realized just how much more physical the two of you are actually going to have to be when coming up with this plan,” Kimberleigh piped in from the back seat.
“Or emotional,” D added, “You’ll have to let your guard down. All those feelings you’ve had for him-”
“I don’t have feelings for him,” Mae protested, cutting her off.
D snorted, “Okay, just keep telling yourself that. But in order for Tyler or anyone else to believe it, they need to see the emotional and physical connection you both have.”
“So, no more death stares or avoiding,” Veronica said, pointing her brush at Mae. “Tae is going to enjoy the hell out of this,” she laughed. “If he holds your hand, you hold it back. If he puts his arm around you, don’t you dare smack that man.”
Mae tossed Veronica’s phone in her lap when they pulled up to the restaurant. She knew what this plan would involve when she made it. She knew she was going to have to put down all her walls and let her true feelings for him show. But she was scared. Mae knew that Taehyung wouldn’t intentionally hurt her. But even after three years, the scars from Tyler were still fresh. Deep in her brain the warning sign with ‘all men are just like Tyler’ was still flashing its bright red letters.
The women followed behind Mae’s bodyguard as the hostess led them to their tables.
“Good evening, ladies.” Namjoon greeted them.
“How the hell did you beat us here? We left while you were still on stage.” A confused Veronica asked.
“We had your driver take the long way.”
“You’re such a smart man, Mr. Kim Namjoon.” Veronica said, making everyone laugh when she pinched his cheek.
“Why don’t we all have a seat so we can eat?”
Mae's eyes found Taehyung who was standing next to the table with his hand out for her. She rolled her eyes and chuckled at his gesture before taking his hand.
“You really are enjoying this aren’t you?” she asked.
Taehyung pulled her close making it look like he was placing a kiss on her temple, “The person who took the pictures of me leaving the house is here,” he whispered.
Mae turned her head to look at him, “Are you sure?”
“Yes, she’s the one in the light blue dress by herself.” Mae glanced in the direction that he nodded. Five tables away was indeed a woman wearing a light blue dress with her phone perfectly placed so that it pointed at their table. “She somehow found out we were coming here.” Taehyung cupped Mae’s cheek and brought her attention back to him. “A member of our security already talked to the manager, but they wont do anything about it because she’s a paying customer.”
“So act like she’s not here? And put on our best acting skills?”
Taehyung’s smile grew and he kissed her on the forehead. “It’s time to act like you’re madly in love with me.”
“She’s already madly in love with you.”
The two of them turned their attention to Kimberleigh who was standing behind Mae.
“Is she now?” Taehyung’s voice was full of amusement.
“I am not.”
Kimberleigh rolled her eyes. “You are too. Now will you both please sit down? I’m starving and you’ve got a show to put on.”
This time it was Mae who grabbed Taehyung’s hand and pulled him into the booth with her. The remainder of the party strategically sat around the table, giving the stalker as little view of the couple as possible.
Mae laughed when she looked up from her menu and caught a glance of the woman over Hoseok’s shoulder. She looked angry as she moved her phone around, trying to get the perfect angle again.
As the evening went on Mae found it easier to relax and let her flirty side take over after a couple glasses of wine. It didn’t faze her when Taehyung put his hand on her leg, mindlessly rubbing her thigh while they chatted away with their friends.
However, just as everyone was ordering dessert, when Taehyung put his arm around Mae’s shoulder and leaned across her to talk to D, Mae realized just how much effect he was having on her body. She found herself taking in his features, she could feel her heart beginning to race and her breathing grow heavier. Taehyung must’ve felt the change in her too, because before he moved away he looked at her with a flirtatious smile.

Chapter 15
“Mae, will you hurry your ass up!” Veronica shouted up the stairs.
“I’m coming!” Mae yelled walking out of her bedroom. “Why are you in such a hurry? The concert doesn’t start for another four hours?” she asked, stopping at the top of the stairs to put her bucket hat on.
“According to ARMY, the earlier you get to the venue the better. We’re already two hours behind schedule because of someone…” Veronica trailed off while sending a death glare to D.
“Hey, it’s not my fault the meeting went over. You’re the one who scheduled it.”
“She has a point there, Ronnie.” Kimberleigh butted in. “You knew we were going to the concert today. You should’ve scheduled it for next week.”
Mae put her shoes on and looked between her three friends who were now in a somewhat heated argument. “What was the meeting about?” she asked, changing the subject.
“We are in talks of expanding Wander.” Kimberleigh answered.
“Really? That’s awesome!”
“Isn’t it? Fiona and Hyeon always talked about wanting to go global, but they never got the chance to.”
“We figured, since we already have customers outside the US, we should try and open some new locations or at least warehouses to make it easier and less expensive for them,” D added as the women walked to the car.
Mae fidgeted with the mask she had in her hand the entire drive to the venue. She was nervous. Nervous about the large crowd and about people recognizing her. Sure, almost her whole face would be covered by the bucket hat and mask, but she wouldn’t be wearing them the entire concert and even though it was going to be dark, there was still that small chance someone might notice her. And if someone did recognize her, how would they react? Judging by what little she’d seen online, there were many ARMYs who were happy for her and Taehyung’s marriage, but still there were those who were furious.
Her nerves were also mixed with excitement. She was a teenager the last time she went to a concert. She loved music and missed the intoxicating concert atmosphere. There was also the fact that this was her first time seeing the guys perform live. She couldn’t wait to see her friends in their element.
As they pulled up to the venue, Mae put her mask on and adjusted her hat. Once the driver came to a stop, the women stepped out and were greeted by two plainly dressed men who’d be their guards while they walked around.
“Wow!” D exclaimed, looking around at the hoards of fans.
“Are you sure you’re okay with looking around for a bit?” Kimberleigh asked, taking Mae’s hand.
“Yes I’ll be fine,” Mae reassured her. “I’m going to have as normal of an experience as I can. If something happens or I become uncomfortable I can always go sit in the suite.”
Kimberleigh nodded her head and squeezed Mae’s hand, “Where are we heading first, ladies?”
“To the merch booth!” Veronica raised an arm and pointed in the direction.
┗━•❃°•°❀°•°❃•━┛
The four women were exhausted once they finally arrived at their suite three hours later. When they entered the suite they were introduced to a new set of guards, who would be with them for the remainder of the night. And as they sat down in the air conditioning for the first time since entering the venue, the room was filled with their sighs of relaxation.
As they waited for the concert to begin, they sat around eating and drinking, while going through the things they’d bought and the freebies they’d gotten from both vendors and ARMY. They opened the balcony doors so that they could hear the music and fans.
The moment the lights began to dim the women grabbed their drinks and went to their seats. The atmosphere was breathtaking as the energy of the crowd grew. In all the concerts she’d gone to, Mae had never felt this kind of energy before.
Before she knew it, she was singing and dancing along with her friends and the rest of the crowd. Having the time of her life, forgetting about the world outside as she watched the guys give their all up on stage.
The four women fell back in their seats to cool off a bit and drink something when the guys left the stage to change for the ending moments and final song.
“Jesus, I don’t think I’ve ever been to a concert so intense before,” Kimberleigh sighed.
Mae nodded in agreement while she wiped the sweat off her face with a napkin. “I’m going to run to the restroom real quick, before they come back out,” she grunted, getting out of her chair and walking from the balcony back into the suite to use the private bathroom.
On her way out, Mae stopped in her tracks as she looked at the message she’d received while in the restroom.
It was a text from an unknown number with a link for a Korean news site. The headline: The truth about V of BTS' wife and the fiance she vanished on.
Mae’s stomach dropped while she quickly scanned the article. Drunken mistake, annulment drafted, reckless woman, lies, caught cheating, leaving her fiance heartbroken.
Mae placed her hand over her mouth in shock and sat down to try and catch her breath as she read the vile things being said about her. Her vision blurred from her tears and her breath hitched when she saw his name. Tyler. How was he making himself out to be the good guy and her to be the bad?
“Mae?”
The sudden hand on her shoulder made Mae jump. She looked up to see her three best friends standing around her, with their phones out. A glance at Veronica's phone beside her told her that they’d been sent the same message.
“He’s making it look like I’m the one who cheated. He’s making it look like I used him for his money. He’s making me look like the bad guy.” she cried.
“I know, sweet.” Veronica frowned and sat beside her. “And once again, the fucker is choosing his words carefully.”
Mae jumped again when her phone vibrated in her hand.
Unknown Number: I hope you enjoyed the concert as much as I did. Tell Taehyung the show was amazing and I’m sorry he had to find out about me and who you really are this way.
The excitement of the crowd vanished in the background as the four women watched in shock and disgust as pictures started to load on Mae’s phone. Pictures of Taehyung leaving the house, pictures of the women arriving at the concert. The last picture was Mae leaving her seat minutes ago.
Mae’s phone was taken away by one of the girls. She sat there, staring at nothing, while the muffled sounds of talking, cheering and music filled her ears. She closed her eyes trying to make out what was being said or what was being sung as she attempted to steady her breathing.
┗━•❃°•°❀°•°❃•━┛
Mae sat in the chair and pulled her knees to her chest while she listened to one of the managers talk on the phone.
After Veronica took her phone and showed it to the guards, all four women were removed from the venue. Mae was taken directly to the hotel and the other three were taken home.
The manager was currently in a heated discussion with someone at the company trying to figure things out. She wasn’t paying attention to what he was saying. She was lost in her own thoughts.
“Mae?” She slowly lifted her head and looked at one of the guards from the concert standing in front of her. “I just wanted to let you know that your friends made it home safely and a couple of my colleagues will be staying with them. The short fiery one…”
Mae couldn’t help but chuckle, “All three of them are short and fiery.”
“Oh, well she was the shortest. Anyways, she wouldn’t let me leave until she packed a bag for you,” he said, sitting the duffle bag on the floor next to the things she’d gotten from the concert.
Before Mae could say ‘thank you’ the door to the room swung open hitting the wall behind it, causing everyone in the room to jump.
“Shit, Taehyung!” Mae peeked around the bodyguard who was now standing tall in front of her facing the doorway. She watched the guys as they entered the room and checked the wall, making sure he didn’t put a hole in it.
“Sorry,” Taehyung said, giving the manager a bow. “I was in such a hurry to enter, I didn’t realize how forceful I was being.”
“Where’s Mae? They said she was in here,” Jimin askes, quickly scanning the room.
“I’m behind the tall man wearing a suit.” Mae patted him on the back signaling him to step aside so that she could stand up.
Jimin was in front of her within a matter of seconds. “Are you alright? Are you hurt?” he asked, placing his hands on her shoulders to look her over, even though he and everyone else in the room knew she didn’t have any physical injuries.
“I’m fine, Jimin. Just shaken up a bit.” She gave him a reassuring smile and removed his hands.
“Taehyung, why don’t you take Mae to your room? I’ll let you know the moment we find out anything.”
“Are you sure that’s a good idea?” Mae asked the manager. “What if..”
The manager held up a hand stopping her when his phone rang. “The hotel is completely booked and it’ll be safest for you while we figure things out.” he quickly said before answering the phone.
“Come on, Mae.” Taehyung reached a hand out for her. “Let’s go get cleaned up and eat something.”
Mae went to reach for her bags before the guard stopped her.
“I’ll carry them.”
She gave him a small smile and told him thank you, before putting her hand in Taehyung's, allowing him to escort her out of the room.
For the past hour, she’d been quietly staring out of the window, barely noticing when Taehyung left and then quickly returned to the room.
“Do you mind if I look at what he sent?” Taehyung asked, as he unpacked the food that had just arrived on the table.
Mae shifted in her seat, removing her eyes from the window and handed him her phone.
“Thank you, Tae.” She said softly, before taking the cover off of the food he’d sat in front of her. She wasn’t really hungry but she knew she needed to try and eat some at least.
“This man’s ego is off the charts,” Taehyung scoffed as he scrolled through the article. “What makes him so confident that I don’t know who he is?”
“Knowing him, he’s counting on me being too embarrassed by my actions to say anything.”
“If anyone should be embarrassed, it would be his ass for the shit he pulled.” Taehyung put the phone down and looked at Mae. “You’re not embarrassed about what he put you through, are you?”
Mae looked at him. “What? No. Never.” She reassured him. “I’ve had a lot of feelings about the whole situation but that was never one of them.”
“Good,” he said softly with a smile before he began to eat his food.

Chapter 14
Mae looked at the man sleeping in the bed beside her. The man who, even with a busy schedule, came over in the middle of the night to take care of her. The man who she accidentally married. The man whose arms she fell asleep in last night. The man who, despite her best efforts, had found his way into her heart.
The night she left Tyler, Mae decided to give up on love. It had hurt her once already and she never wanted to feel like that again.
But the moment Kim Taehyung walked into her life everything changed. He unknowingly had control over her mind, body and soul. No matter how high she built her walls, he found a way around them. No matter how many times she tried lying to herself, she’d fallen for him.
The past couple of weeks may have been stressful and scary, but just the sound of his voice made her forget about it all. She didn’t realize it until just a few minutes ago when Kimberleigh came to wake them up for lunch. Her sleep was peaceful and relaxing, just like it was when they slept in the same bed while in Jeju. Even after a night of drinking she felt the best she had in a long time.
The thought of falling in love again scared her. Was she in love with Taehyung? No, well, at least not yet anyways.
She could hear his and Jimin’s mothers in her head. Telling her once again that their marriage happened for a reason. Maybe it was a sign for her to finally break free, or her Aunt and Uncle’s spirits, pushing her to have some fun in life and take some risks.
“If this was your two’s doing, the least you could do is send me a sign,” she said to herself.
She laid there silently for a moment and waited. Just as she was about to give up, Taehyung put his arm around her waist and pulled her face first to his chest.
“Are you done staring at me yet?” he asked.
“How long have you been awake?” She tilted her head the best she could to look at him.
“Long enough for you to ask for a sign.” Taehyung opened one eye and looked at her. “Who were you talking to?”
“Noone,” she answered, face turning red from embarrassment.
“I don’t mean to sound like an asshole. But could you possibly get out of bed, get dressed and leave the room?” Taehyung removed his arm from her waist, allowing her to scoot away.
Mae scrunched her brows and looked at him, “It’s my fucking room. You leave first.”
Taehyung cleared his throat. “I can’t.”
“What do you mean you can’t?” Mae said, sitting up against the headboard.
“I…how do I put this without it sounding bad?” Taehyung sighed and rubbed his face. “I am a man…and sometimes when men first wake up…”
“Oh!” Mae watched his hand gestures while he tried to figure out what to say. “Taeconda has risen.”
“What?” Taehyung, shocked by what she’d just said, looked at her in amusement.
“I’ll go use the restroom and change in the closet while the two of you sort yourselves out.” She patted him on the shoulder, before getting out of bed.
“Aren’t you going to cover yourself up like you did last night?” he asked, watching her walk to the bathroom.
“Nope. It’s not the first time you’ve seen me in a bra and it won't be the last.”
The moment Mae closed the door she placed her hands on the counter and took a deep breath.
“The two of you better not be sending me mixed signals.” She looked up at the ceiling and whispered. “Because this is going to be fun yet extremely challenging for me.”
┗━•❃°•°❀°•°❃•━┛
Mae was the first one downstairs, exiting the closet through the door that led to her room. She grabbed her things and laughed when she heard Taehyung in the bathroom. She couldn’t understand any of the muffled words, but judging by his tone and how fast he was talking there was definitely cursing involved.
She yelled to him from the doorway that she was leaving before shutting her door.
Once she’d finally gotten to the kitchen she was met with three pairs of curious eyes.
“Good morning, sleeping beauty.” Veronica said from her seat at the table. “Did you sleep well?” she asked, arching a curious brow at her.
“The sleep was good.” Mae replied, joining them at the table.
“Will Prince Charming be joining us or did you leave him tied up?”
“He’s not tied up, Ant.” Mae answered, putting some food on her plate.
“Such a shame.” Veronica sighed.
“I couldn’t find any rope so I used the handcuffs instead.” Mae said quickly before taking a bite of food.
The sound of her three friends choking on their coffees almost made her do the same on the food as she tried not to laugh.
“Oh, she’s a feisty one this afternoon.” D placed her face in her hands and smiled at Mae.
“She is, isn't she?” Kimberleigh added doing the same. “Maybe the two of them should sleep shirtless together more often, if she’s going to wake up in this good of a mood.”
“You were shirtless!” Veronica yelled, making the other three women jump at her outburst.
“Yes, we were.” Three of the women looked up to see a freshly showered, wet-haired Taehyung walking toward them. “You should’ve seen her. The moment you left the room she went crazy. She took off her shirt. I told her she couldn’t do that, it wasn’t decent. Then while I was trying to cover her up she pinned me down and ripped mine off.”
Mae laughed when she saw the look of shock on Veronica’s face. “Don’t fucking lie to her like that. You’ll give the poor woman a heart attack.” She turned her head to look at Taehyung when he sat down beside her. “Is that…is that my cardigan?”
“Yes, it is. I didn’t realize until after I got out of the shower that I didn’t grab one last night. You weren’t in the room so I just went into your closet and grabbed one. I hope you don’t mind. You did after all tear my other one to shreds.” he answered, sending her a playful smile and wink.
“You went in her closet? Alone?” D asked with wide eyes.
“You are a brave, brave man.” Kimberleigh mumbles into her coffee cup.
“Why? It’s just a closet.” Taehyung looked at the women in confusion.
“It is just a closet. But you open the wrong drawer and your image of innocent Mae will come crumbling down quickly.”
“One,” Mae looked at Kimberleigh and held up a finger. “I don’t keep those in my closet. They would be too far away in there. Two,” she held up a second finger and turned back to Taehyung. “How do I say this without it sounding bad..” she smiled using the same line he’d used earlier. “I am a woman, Tae. A woman who has needs, and sometimes I have to take care of those by myself.”
The four women watched Taehyung’s reaction while he registered what Mae was saying. They were amused as the confused look slowly faded and a mischievous grin took over.
He turned to look at Mae, “Tell me, do you use these secret objects after you’ve dreamt of me?”
“The ones up in my room? No, I haven’t used them in years and I need to throw them away. The ones back in Korea however…”
Mae trailed off, turned back to her plate and ate her food to hide her smile. She wasn’t sure what she found more entertaining, the look of shock and disbelief on her friends' faces, or the mixture of amusement and shock that Taehyung had on his.
“So, um Tae,” D cleared her throat, “Are you excited for the concert tomorrow?” she asked, changing the subject.
“Yes, very excited and a little nervous too. It’s the first in-person concert we’ve been able to have in almost three years.” he answered before taking a bite of food. “Are you ladies coming?”
“We are.” D said, taking her plate to the sink. “There’s no way in hell we’d pass up a chance to watch y’all perform live.”
“You mean I’m going to be home by myself?” Mae pouted.
“You’re cute when you’re being all pouty.” Kimberleigh patted Mae on the head when she walked past her. “Did you really think we’d let you stay home and miss your husband’s concert?”
“You got me a ticket?”
“Of course we did, Giant. Well actually Namjoon got you one.”
Mae looked over to Taehyung, “Did you know about this?”
“No, no I did not.”
“The night you arrived we were talking about the concert, while we got the food ready. Kimberleigh was telling them about how we’d gotten tickets and one of the suites for both shows. We didn’t want to leave you home by yourself, but we also didn’t want to miss the show.”
“As much as I would enjoy having Mae there, do you really think it’s a good idea?” Taehyung sat back in his chair and crossed his arms.
“You don’t want me at your concert?” Mae looked him up and down. “That’s fucked up, even if we weren’t married.” she said, picking up her dirty dishes and taking them to the sink.
“That’s not what I meant, Mae.”
“He’s just worried about your safety,” Veronica rolled her eyes. “We all are. But you don’t have to worry, Prince Charming. The suite is private, not just anyone can enter. Namjoon’s already talked with security and there will be a couple of guards with us. If she wants to, she can stay inside and watch the concert or she can join us on the balcony in the private seating area.”
Taehyung smiled, “Sounds like you guys have it all planned out. If Mae’s comfortable, I for one, would love to have her there and I know the other guys would too. If not, then she can stay here or in my hotel room. I’ll make sure she has security at either place; that way you guys don’t have to miss the show.”
Mae looked at the four other people who stood in the kitchen with her. The thought of being at the concert gave her mixed feelings. On one hand, she was nervous because she didn’t know how anyone would react if they noticed her. But then on the other hand, she’d be in a private area where she wouldn’t be seen by a lot of people and she’d always wanted to see the guys perform live.
“I’ll go,” she stated, nodding her head. “If there’s any problem, I’ll have the girls and security with me. So, you and the guys don’t need to worry,” she said, looking at Taehyung.
Taehyung smiled, “Are you sure?”
“Yes, I’ve always wanted to see you guys perform live.”
“Good,” Taehyung looked at his phone. “I have to go, my car is here. The next couple of days are going to be crazy.”
Mae could see the worried look in Taehyung’s eyes. “I’ll be fine, Tae. I won’t leave the house except for the concert. Evidently they,” she nodded to her three best friends, “have the head of your security on speed dial if anything happens.”
“She jokes about it but it's true.” Kimberleigh held up her phone for the two of them to see.
Taehyung and Mae both snorted out a laugh when they saw the contact.
“Bat Signal?”
“What else would we use to urgently get a message to a handsome man in a suit?”

⚠️Mentally abusive and controlling ex, stalking, mention of anxiety cheating, COVID, drinking, drunk hookup, masturbation, oral, accidental marriage, accidental pregnancy⚠️
Chapter 13
“Truth or dare?” Veronica asked with a mouth full of pizza.
“Ronnie, we aren’t kids anymore,” Mae said, taking a drink of red wine.
She’d been in the States for three days now. Veronica had taken it upon herself to be Mae’s personal bodyguard and refused to let her leave the house; it was part of the agreement they came to with the guys; to either keep a low profile, or they’d hire a security team for Mae’s safety.
Every time Mae tried to convince Veronica it was okay for her to go out, she’d threaten to call Jimin or Taehyung . Tonight, however, she actually did call Jimin. Which left Mae pouting on her bed for thirty minutes while he lectured her over the phone.
The plan was to watch movies and eat junk food, but by the time the third bottle of wine was finished, the women had completely forgotten about the movie.
“Stop being a party pooper, Mae,” Kimberleigh said as she gracefully stumbled into the living room with a new bottle of wine.
“It’s not like we have anything better to do. Just pick one,” D added, tossing some popcorn into her mouth.
Mae rolled her eyes, “Fine. I choose dare,” she sighed, trying to avoid the questions she knew would be asked if she chose truth.
“I dare you to call Taehyung and tell him you’ve had another dream about him,” Veronica said with a smug look on her face.
“Oh!” D perked up, almost falling off the couch in excitement, “And you have to go into details.”
“All the details,” Kimberleigh sternly pointed her finger at Mae and waved it around.
“No, absolutely not,” Mae crossed her arms in protest.
“Ok, then random fridge milkshake it is.”
Mae grabbed Veronica's arm, stopping her from getting up. She could still taste the foul concoction they made her drink ten years ago.
“I’ll fucking do it,” Mae hissed, giving in to Veronica’s dare, “but I’m going to need more alcohol.” She grabbed the bottle of rosé Kimberleigh brought in and started chugging it.
“Hey, that’s mine. Go get your own,” Kimberleigh whined.
“Careful, Mae. You’ll make yourself sick,” Veronica said, trying to take the bottle, “Jimin’s going to kill me if he finds out I let you chug a whole bottle.”
“Good!” Mae pushed Veronica away with her foot before finishing the bottle, “I hope he does!”
It took thirty minutes of her friends amping her up before Mae finally pushed the call button on her phone.
“You can do it, Mae,” Kimberleigh whispered encouragingly from the couch, “Don’t forget the details.”
“Mae, is everything ok?” Taehyung asked.
“Were you sleeping?”
“I just started dozing off. Are you alright?”
“I’m fine. I just wanted to tell you something,” Mae glared at her friends when she heard their muffled giggles.
“Mae, are you drunk?” Taehyung asked in amusement.
“Just a little,” she answered, holding up her thumb and index finger to show him the measurement, “but that’s not important right now.”
“He can’t fucking see that,” D laughed from the corner of the couch.
“Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh,” Mae held her finger to her lips to get her friends to stop laughing.
Mae heard the rustling of his sheets as Taehyung sat up in bed, “Ok then. What is it that you needed to tell me?”
Mae focused on the wall in front of her, to settle her nerves and make the words come out easier.
“I…I had another dream about you.”
“You did?”
“Yes,” Mae turned just enough so that her giggling friends were out of her line of sight.
“Don’t forget the details,” Veronica whispered.
“Did she say something about, details?” Taehyung’s voice was a mixture of curiosity and amusement.
“Yes. I’m supposed to tell you all the details. Taehyung?”
“Yes, Mae.”
“Where’s your favorite place that we’ve had sex?”
“Mae, we haven’t…”
“I can’t figure out which one I like more,” Mae said, cutting him off, “The rooftop was risky and romantic.”
“Rooftop?” Taehyung coughed.
“However,” Mae continued, “So was the pool. You bending me over the kitchen counter was fun too. Oh, how about the time we started on the couch and ended up on the floor. Ooh, the shower sex. How could I forget about the shower sex? And the tub. Or that time in your dressing room. In the car….” Her words trailed off while the dreams replayed in her mind.
“Mae, how much have you had to drink?”
“I chugged Leigh’s rosé before I called you. Did you know that your penis has a nickname? It’s Taeconda and I think it’s accurate. Do you have any idea how difficult it is to look at you and not think about those long fingers of yours? Or your tongue? Your moans, God, your moans are like angels singing.”
“Mae, I think you should hang up the phone and sober up before you say something else you’ll regret.”
“I didn’t know how good sex could feel until you entered my dreams. I’ve broken so many toys just trying to settle myself before I went completely feral. Tae?”
“Hmmm?”
“I want you. My body aches for you. If you don’t fuck the life out of me soon I’m going to find someone else to do it.”
“Wait, are you threatening me now?” Taehyung laughed.
“That wasn’t a threat, I was just letting you know that your window is closing.”
“Mae, please go get some sleep.”
“I can’t.”
“Why?”
“Because I think the bottle of rosé is….” Mae dropped her phone on the rug she was sitting on, “I’m gonna be sick!”
┗━•❃°•°❀°•°❃•━┛
Mae groaned when the bright light of the fridge hit her eyes. She cursed at it and quickly grabbed a bottle of water before shutting the door. She was thankful for the dark house while she slowly crept up the stairs. She didn’t know what time it was or how long she’d been asleep, all she knew was she felt hot, tired, thirsty, and like shit.
Mae gently closed her bedroom door and headed to her bathroom; drinking wine made her pee a lot and she figured it would be a good idea to go one last time before going back to sleep. She removed her sweat soaked shirt then used a wet rag to cool herself off.
“That’s a little better,” she mumbled to herself before grabbing the water bottle from the counter and exiting.
Mae's fingers were on the light switch when she noticed a person in her bed. Thinking it was just one of the girls, she chuckled before turning off the light. It wouldn’t be the first time one of them slept in her room to keep an eye on her after a night of drinking.
“Feeling better?”
Mae shreaked and fell from the bed she'd just climbed into at the sound of Taehyung’s raspy voice.
“Dammit, that’s gonna leave a bruise.” she groaned, rubbing her sore left butt cheek.
“Oh, shit. I didn’t mean to scare you. I thought you knew I was here. Are you okay?” Taehyung asked, sitting up quickly and looking over the side of the bed.
“Does it sound like I’m okay? The floor is hard as hell, Tae. I thought you were one of the girls,” Mae said slowly and carefully getting up. “What are you…” Mae stopped when she realized what she was wearing.
“What’s wrong?”
“I don’t have a shirt on.” She pouted and looked down at her bra.
“Neither do I.” Taehyung shrugged, getting up from the bed, “You were sweating so much I had to take mine off. Do you always sweat like this?”
“Only when I’ve been drinking,” Mae grabbed the throw blanket from the foot of the bed and covered her chest.
“I’m not looking, I promise. I’m just going to the bathroom,” Taehyung said, walking past her, “You can put a shirt on if you want to. It’s not like I haven’t seen you in a bra before.”
Mae jumped into her bed and covered herself up the second Taehyung disappeared behind the closed bathroom door. She knew she’d become hot once she fell asleep again and she didn’t want to deal with a clingy shirt.
“Why are you here?” Mae asked when Taehyung returned.
“I came to take care of my drunk wife and her drunk friends.” He smiled when she groaned, “After you so rudely dropped me on the floor, Veronica picked me up on their way to check on you. We came to the agreement that neither of them were in any condition to take care of you, so I came over.” He said, getting in his bag that was on the dresser.
Mae sank further into the bed and covered her face trying to disappear, “I was hoping the phone call wasn’t real.”
“Here, take these.”
Mae felt the bed shift under his weight and removed the blanket from her face, “What is it?” She asked, squinting her eyes to try and see in the dim light.
“Medicine to help with your hangover,” Taehyung moved his hand closer and motioned for her to sit up.
“You aren’t going to tease me about what I said on the phone?” Mae asked skeptically, taking the capsules out of his hand.
“I’m sorry, could you say that again? I zoned out for a second thinking of all the things you said about me in your drunken confession.” Taehyung laughed when Mae used her free hand to slap him on the arm.
“You’re an asshole,” she said before swallowing the medicine.
“An asshole that you evidently want and need.”
“Go to sleep, Taehyung,” Mae said, putting the bottle of water on her nightstand.
Mae was thankful for the dark as she smiled and listened to Taehyung’s laughter while he got situated in the bed. She knew before making the phone call that whatever she said he’d tease her with, but thanks to the liquid courage she couldn’t stop herself from talking and now she strangely felt a little lighter.
“Hey, Mae.”
“Hmmm?”
“I like that forest green bra on you better in person than in the pictures.”
Mae’s eyes widened and she lifted up the blanket to look at her bra, “You said you wouldn’t look!”
“I didn’t look after that. I saw it when you came out of the bathroom.”
“That’s it. I’m going to sleep somewhere else.”
“Wait. I’m sorry, don’t leave,” Taehyung put his arm around her, stopping her from getting up, “I promise I’ll behave.”
“You’re an asshole,” Mae couldn’t help but chuckle.
“But I’m your asshole,” Taehyung said, snuggling closer.
Mae felt a flash of warmth spread through her body but this time it wasn’t from the alcohol, it was from Taehyung’s bare chest pressed against her bare back.

Chapter 12
“How do you feel?” Taehyung’s mother asked from the other end of the phone.
“Anxious, excited, and scared,” Mae answered, “I have so many emotions going through me right now, I don’t know if I want to make the driver turn back to the airport or if I want him to speed up so that I can get there faster.”
Mae stared out of the tinted windows of the car and watched the busy California traffic pass by. She was back in her home state for the first time in three years.
The past two weeks were stressful. Her phone was constantly blowing up between phone calls and text messages. Then the random gifts and letters started showing up. That’s when she knew her address had been leaked.
Taehyung’s parents came over in the middle of the week to take Mae to dinner and saw the hallway outside her door covered in gifts. She’d cleared out the hallway a few hours before and was just as shocked as they were when she opened the door.
That night was when the three of them decided it would be safer for Mae to get away for a while. So she packed a couple of bags and went to stay with Taehyung’s parents. Once settled in, she had a talk with Tae’s father who convinced her to go to the company for help. After years of observing his son and the rest of the members, he’d seen what happens when things go bad, and knew it wasn’t safe for her to go through it alone. She agreed to let them step in as long as they kept everything that was happening from the guys.
It was his mother’s idea for Mae to go visit her friends. She grew concerned watching the stress of everything take its toll on her. Taehyung’s mother understood why Mae wanted to keep things from him, she’d done it a few times herself, but Mae needed someone to talk to. Someone who could comfort her in a way that they couldn’t.
“Did you let anyone know you were coming?”
“No, I wanted to surprise them.”
“Remember what I told you to do if you run into that asshole of an ex,” Taehyung’s father said.
“Yes, Appa, I remember,” Mae said with a laugh, “Don’t give him the satisfaction of knowing that he still has an effect on me. If I see him I’m supposed to treat him as someone I’ve never met before and if he tries anything, kick him in the balls.”
“That’s my girl,” he said proudly.
“We are just a couple minutes away,” the butterflies in Mae’s stomach fluttered as the surrounding houses became more familiar. “I’m going to let the two of you go.”
“Alright,” Taehyung’s mother said, “Have fun and be safe.”
“I will, Eomeoni.”
“If you drink, make sure to stay away from Taehyung. We don’t need another Jeju incident right now.”
“I promise I will not get that drunk again, Appa,” Mae said with a chuckle.
“Good, the last thing you two need to worry about is mysteriously becoming parents.”
“APPA!” Mae couldn’t help but laugh along with him at her outburst. He loved teasing her.
The three of them said their final goodbyes as the driver turned into the long driveway to the house.
Mae fiddled with the strap of her purse, the closer they got to the house. Her body buzzed with both excitement and nerves.
A big smile formed on her face when the head housekeeper, Abigail, stepped out the front door with a confused look on her face at the car coming up the drive. It took everything in Mae not to jump out of the moving car and hug her.
“Oh my word,” Abigail said once the driver opened the door and Mae stepped out. “Someone pinch me, I must be dreaming. Is it really you Miss Mae? Look at you!” She opened her arms and hugged Mae.
“Are you surprised?” Mae asked, letting the warmth of the hug calm her.
“Surprised doesn’t even begin to describe it,” Abigail said, tightening her hug, “Oh my sweet, beautiful child. I’ve missed you so much.” She kept her hands on Mae’s shoulders as she stepped back to get a better look at her. “Wow, look at you. You look so much happier and healthier than you did the last time I saw you. Did the girls know you were coming?’
“No, Ma’am. I wanted to surprise them, too.”
“They will be so shocked! I’ll take your bags and get your room ready. Why don’t you go join them by the pool?”
Mae gave Abigail another hug and thanked her before sprinting through the large house towards the back patio door that led to the pool.
“Bitches, I’m home!” she yelled, swinging open the doors and stepping out into the blinding sunlight. “Jesus! I forgot how bright it is back here at this time of day,” Mae shielded her eyes with her hand.
“Mae!” her three best friends yelled in unison before she was engulfed in a group hug.
“What the hell are you doing here?” Kimberleigh asked.
“And why the hell didn’t you let us know you were coming?” D added.
“I wanted to surprise you and I figured the less people that knew I was coming, the better,” Mae answered the two of them.
“Is everything okay in Korea or has it gotten worse?” Veronica asked as the women ended their hug.
Mae hesitated for a bit before answering her. All they knew was that people knew her name and what she looked like. She’d hoped to wait a few hours before telling them just how bad it had gotten. But she knew by the look Veronica was giving her, her brain was already thinking of scenarios.
“I won't lie to you guys. It’s been really scary. A couple of days after you left, my phone number was leaked and then my address. I’ve spent the last two weeks with Tae’s parents. Even..”
“Taehyung,” Kimberleigh cut Mae off and looked over her friends shoulder. “Did you know about this?”
Mae’s eyes went wide and she slowly turned around to see a group of seven men standing outside the doors she’d just come through minutes before. Their faces showed a mixture of concern and worry. Taehyung looked angry, she knew he was going to be mad that she’d kept this from him.
“No. No, I did not,” he said, not taking his eyes off of Mae.
“Why don’t we go get the food ready while they talk. Mae can fill us in later,” D said, taking the other women’s hands and pulling them towards the house.
The two of them stood there a few minutes staring at each other. Mae didn’t want to anger him anymore so she just waited until he started yelling.
Taehyung was upset that she’d kept this from him. But he was angry at the people who were making her scared. Scared enough that she didn’t feel safe in her own home, so she went and stayed with his family. He took a few minutes to calm himself so that she wouldn’t think he was angry with her.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“At first, it wasn’t that big of a deal,” Mae answered, breaking eye contact to fiddle with the bottom of her shirt. She didn’t look at him while she spoke. She told him about the phone calls, text messages and the packages. She told him that she’d brought in the company, like his father advised. She told him that his mother was the one who’d suggested that she come here so she had her family. But she didn’t tell him about Tyler. She didn’t want him to be anymore upset, especially with their concert happening in a few days.
Taehyung, though, could see she wasn’t telling him everything. It was like she was reading from a script. It was reminiscent of when his mother hid things as to not worry him more than she deemed necessary. It took everything in him not to smile.
“Mae,” both of them froze in shock when Mae flinched at the feeling of Taehyung’s hand on her shoulder.
“I am so sorry. I don’t know why I did that,” Mae said, looking at him with wide-eyes.
“You don’t need to apologize, Mae,” Taehyung said, giving her a reassuring smile, “You’ve had a long flight and what sounds like a very stressful couple of weeks. Why don’t you get freshened up and I’ll fill everyone in?”
“Thank you, Tae,” she said, smiling in return, “Just so you know, I was planning on telling you. I just didn’t want you to be worried about me. So, please don’t be mad.”
“Mae, I’m not mad. Well, not at you, at least. I’m mad at those who thought it was ok to do these things. You did the right thing by going to the company and staying with my family. Now, go get cleaned up. You look like shit.”
Mae playfully slapped Taehyung on the chest and called him an “asshole” before walking away.
Taehyung waited until she was out of sight before he pulled his phone from his pocket and called Bang to see just how bad things had gotten. He walked around the yard as he listened to what the older man had to say. As far as he knew, only a few of the packages and letters had been questionable. The gifts that were deemed good were put aside for the two of them to sort through once they got back.
His next phone call was to his parents, who surprisingly didn’t give up any information about the calls and texts Mae received. They just kept telling him that she’d have to tell him herself. They were protecting her as much as they would him, which he found both annoying and amusing.
The group was back outside when Taehyung returned to the patio. He sat on one of the barstools and told them everything Mae and Bang said, while they cooked.
He’d just finished telling them when Mae came out of the house freshly showered and in a clean pair of clothes. The wall she had up earlier was now gone. The toll of the past two weeks now showed in her eyes.
“You’ve been crying,” Veronica said, concerned for her friend.
Mae didn’t say anything as she unlocked her phone and placed it on the counter before sitting on a stool next to Taehyung.
Unknown Number: My sweet angel, Mae. What a coincidence that you would be arriving the same day I was leaving. You really need to pay better attention to your surroundings. If you hadn’t been so busy on the phone while you got in your car, you would’ve seen me getting out of mine at the airport. I can only assume you are here for your husband’s concert. Or you’ve been shunned out of the country for your drunken marriage. Either way if you’re still in town when I get back I’d love to see you and catch up.
The group grew quiet as they passed around Mae’s phone and read the messages from Tyler.
“How?” Namjoon asked.
“He’s Tyler. He knows everything,” Mae lowered her head and said softly.
“I think you should come stay at the hotel with us until you leave,” Taehyung said, holding her hand to stop her from picking at her cuticles.
“No, absolutely not,” Mae straightened up and looked at him, “There are too many people that know where you guys are staying. They will be watching your every move. It’ll be safer and I’ll be more comfortable here.”
“Ok,” Taehyung nodded his head and sighed, “But I need you to promise me that if he or anyone else finds out you’re here you’ll come stay with us and our security team.”
Mae looked around at the concerned faces of her friends. They were all worried for her. Especially the girls who knew how bad Tyler could get.
“If anyone finds out I’m here I’ll go stay at the hotel,” she agreed.
“And no more keeping things from us?” Jimin asked, pointing the knife he was using at her.
“I won’t keep anything else from you, I promise. Now please put down the knife.”
Jimin pursed his lips and nodded his head, satisfied with her answer, before going back to chopping the vegetables.
