the package had arrived late christmas eve and linda barely got to wrap it before ray showed up in the morning. she was beaming brightly, leaning her shoulder towards him with a laugh to show off her new name tag and the box of cubans were hidden behind her back as he approached. “good morning and merry christmas,” she said, offering him the box in shiny green and red paper. “it came a little late. i didn’t think they’d get here in time, but they did!” she said, hoping he’d enjoy the cigars.

the bookstore is quiet this christmas eve -- which was expected, considering most of his customers celebrate yule -- as he walks in from the back, a small box in his hand, wrapped in green plaid wrapping paper. there's a warm smile in his face as he passes it to linda, even as he worries ever so slightly that she won't like the handmade light blue coffee mug he'd bought from the local coffee shop, or the official "ray's occult" name tag with her name engraved on it that lays taped across the top of it currently concealed by the bright paper.

"merry christmas, lin." he says, shoving his hands back in his pockets to hide his nervousness.

as ray places the gift down in front of her, Linda beams. "Thank you, Ray! you didn't have to give me anything, you know? you've done so much for me already," she smiles. she opens it and gasps softly at the name tag. she picks it up and inspects the coffee mug with a bright smile. "its perfect!" she says, taking it into her hands, mocking taking a sip with her small hands wrapped comfortably around the stunning blue cup. "fits just right!" she laughs. 

she immediately pins the name tag to her sweater and throws her arms around ray's neck, giving him a big hug. "i can't tell you how thankful i am for you, " she mumbles against his chest. when she pulls away, she reaches into her bag and pulls a small, wrapped box from it that contains a tea ball she made with an attached amethyst crystal and places it on the counter along with a wrapped mason jar of tea leaves and calming herbs she made herself. "merry christmas, ray," she smiles.

I’m still toying with the idea of using an alternate faceclaim for Linda... but then I’m stuck on Amy Gume.nick or Lil.i Rei.nhart??? They’re actually pretty similar looking side by side but... I just adore Betsy but there’s zero resources for her... there’s a little more for Amy and tons for Li.li.
