i was debating on whether or not i should post this on tumblr but seeing as there haven’t been posts about this yet, here it is. i’m exposing my real location and nationality but it doesn’t matter.

if you have been active on twitter, you may already know #savemyanmar is trending. long story short, there has been a military coup. several nations have released statements but i want to share insight on what’s happening in the country.

memes about a coup have been circulating around for a couple days and when i slept at 2 am last night, we were still under the rule of the National League for Democracy (NLD). while they are not technically democratic, they are the closest we’ve got. when my mother woke up at 6 this morning, she was notified that the country was now under the rule of the military.

banks services are no longer available. wifi was cut at around 7-8. some people got wifi again earlier but many got it barely thirty minutes ago. this is bad for businesses especially ones that require international communications. additionally, international students like myself are experiencing anxiety; how do we pay for and attend classes if we’re not sure wifi is a given?

myanmar has a long, complicated history with military governments. the last time the military went into rule was in 1962 and only stopped in 2011, following the 2010 elections. there was a huge protest in 1988 lead by students that resulted in lots of death. during the military junta, resources like rice, water, oil, were scarce. the gist is military rule is bad for us.

all of my followers are not myanmar citizens, i’m sure but as part of the international community, please help us. here is a petition that you can sign (although i’m not sure if that can do much). there may be protests in front of myanmar embassies so look out for those. most of all, please help spread awareness. 

the people here are coping with dark humor, primarily in the form of memes but we don’t know how long this rule will last, even though the official statement said only a year. here’s something that pretty much sums up our coping mechanism:

Training camps with a few of the most popular teams throughout Japan meant two things: extreme hard work and chaos...utter chaos. Fortunately for you, every single team and team member became accustomed to you and befriended you! Now, in all that chaos with practice and matches, your birthday happened to be today!

Seeing how tired all of them were, you weren't expecting anything special happening for your birthday. All of them, when bumping into you during different times of the day, congratulated you on your birthday. Some with a simple 'happy birthday' (cough cough Kageyama), some with a tight hug and some with a sneaky kiss on the cheek!

Already close to midnight, it was your birthday for another couple of hours. You would be lying if you said you hadn't been expecting something just a tad bit more for the celebration, but that's probably the best they could do.

Passing by one of the many gyms in the training complex, you happened to bump into Hinata and Inuoka. "Hey, hey (Y/N)-chan, can you help us with some excercises!"

"Excercises?" You were confused as to why they'd have more training at this hour of the day, but when it comes to them, nothing is surprising - especially when it comes to volleyball. "I-Sure?"

"Yay! Come with us!" Hinata grabbed your arm and quickly led you to one of the biggest gyms in the complex. Your previous confusion resurfacing because they never practice late at night in the biggest gym - they prefer the smaller ones - made you rethink about the real reason for them dragging you to the gym.

"Could they really...?"

Once you've arrived at the entrance, you were greeted with a closed door. But, behind said door, you could easily hear a sea of voices arguing about something incoherently. "What's going on?" You asked the quirky duo, but they didn't give you a reply. Instead, they looked nervous, but excited at the same time, before putting their hands over your eyes.

"We'll guide you, don't worry about it~" You heard the familiar creak of the gym door and silence. Nothing but it. Just a few seconds ago, there'd been arguing and conversing, but now there's nothing. "Just a few more steps and we're there!"

A few steps forward and you stop. Inuoka - who had his hands over your eyes - counted down to three before removing his hands. Instantly, a loud chorus of 'happy birthday!' entered your ears and you were met with a huge amount of people and color. There, right in front of you, was every single team that is intending the training camp.

In front of them, it seems that they had placed every single thing that team specifically made. Hinata ran off to Karasuno, in front of them a cake! It was a three-tier cake and by the neatly decorations and icing, you could tell that Sugawara was the one that did most of the decorating.

Next to them, Aoba Johsai. They were standing underneath a large banner that read 'happiest birthday <3' and Oikawa told you to look around the whole gym. There wasn't a spot left untouched, every corner decorated with colorful streamers, confetti and confetti canons that are yet to be launched.

Next to Aoba, Nekoma and Fukurōdani. The best of pals, Kuroo and Bokuto, stood side by side and surrounding them and the team, a huge pile of gifts. From the ones in tiny boxes to the ones in large boxes.

Shiratorizawa and Dateko was standing by the side, beside them a neatly placed DJ stand and speakers, a drummer's kit and more instruments that you all could jam with. And, of course, a karaoke machine - courtesy of Tendou Satori.

And finally, the stunning face of Miya Atsumu was standing in front of Inarizaki and Itachiyama. Behind them, a few tables aligned with various snacks, drinks and food. Let's see if they're good cooks.

"Awww, you don't have to cry baby, we did this all for you because you deserve it!" Sugawara approached you and wiped away the tears that happened to fall from your eyes. You sniffled before rubbing your eyes: "They're happy tears...you guys shouldn't have..."

While some shed some tears of their own, some teased you for being emotional. During the whole emotional escapade, Ukai came up behind you all, the cake rolling towards you, birthday candles on it.

"Happy birthday to you~ happy birthday to you~"

As the cake stopped in front of you, everyone had their phones and cameras ready to capture the most beautiful moment of every birthday. Blowing out the candles.

"Happy birthday to you!!" Blowing out the candles, you flinched at the loud sound of the confetti canons before laughing at the color falling down on all of you and the cake.

They all gathered around you for a group picture and Kuroo quickly laid down in front of you all as he set the timer for 10 seconds. Just in time for you all to pose.

"Say cheese~" "Cheese~"

"You all are cleaning this up because I ain't doing it." Due to Nekomata's words, everyone on the group picture had a huge grin on their face. Now, someone might say that this isn't the perfect picture, but to you, this picture is seated on your bedside table and every time you look at it, you reminisce one of your best birthdays ever celebrated.

I know this is a Monbebe blog but I have to post this, Hanbin is having his life ruined over something he didn’t do and YG literally sold lies about him to cover up the Seungri situation. I’m sure if you’re in the kpop community you know what he did and how disgusting he is, the case has been closed and they’re doing nothing about him and to cover that fact up YG told dispatch about an incident in 2016. Hanbin said he thought bout buying drugs to help cope with all of the things he was going through he felt like he had no other option, however he did not actually buy drugs nor did he take any and YG is saying he did and is terminating his contract to cover the bigger scandal. Seungri is getting away with what he did to those girls and they’re not getting their justice that they deserve and it’s unacceptable, everyone needs to come together to speak on this situation. Hanbin is the sweetest person and an incredible artist, I myself am not even an iKonic technically I listen to a few of their songs but I don’t really follow their careers, but I can’t just stay quiet about this bullshit I can’t really do anything I’m just one person, but I’m a person who is going to talk about this until something is done, I want justice for Seungri’s victims as not just a woman but a human and any decent human should want that too. I want justice for Hanbin too, his career that he’s worked so hard for is being taken away because his company CEO is playing favorites. Please speak on this, spread this message
