It makes me a bit uncomfortable that people were attacking the artist over something like this. First of all he is a Japanese artist; so different culture than western countries, and second its his artwork he can do whatever he pleases with it . Just like any other artist. He obviously meant no ill will, so I hope people will calm down.

Being an art student I guess I just see things in a different perspective (honestly it doesn’t look like whitewashing to me, more like intense lighting). But I understand where people are coming from with whitewashing, representation can be very important to people and it is a problem in many cases.
