It was a difficult day. Too much of something like fear and feeling unwanted
These songs saved me again.

I know what you mean,
when you want to run to meet the world,
intentions may not carry you far.

Hold me closely
Hold me tightly
Go out and befriend whatever parts of the world that you encounter.

Tell us all the adventures you will make. Tell us where you will live and how. We can all make a new kind of garden. A garden to hide in together. Us and the butterflies that will come to the flowers. Us and the flowers. An adventure of peace.
Oh, there's the moon
Ready for
Oh I don't have a choice.
Don't have a choice but to be sad a lot of the time. But we have songs to listen to that a lot of the time can convince us that everything's going to be fine.
And things to look at that a lot of the time can convince us that beauty triumphs over all else.
How the colors, the shapes, the emotions and feelings can fit together. We are all quilts.
Singing this over and over like I believe that enough times sung it will crack something open and we can slip into another world instead. The way she sings the word "forever."

To fill our life together with acts of making, acts of art.
Knowledge starts in the body
What if everyone started their day by dancing? What if every neighborhood had a specially designed, beautiful space somewhere near the center of things where people went to dance at different times of the day and what if it became a widespread custom to start every day with going to the dance place and dancing with your neighbors for at least a couple of songs before you got on with the work and tasks of the day?
Feel like dancing with strangers. No words to communicate with. Just your facial expressions, gestures, your dance moves. That kind of ambient, vibrating love and affection bouncing all around and filling every space of the room.
To love is to forget yourself. Or at least to forget the idea that you are separate, individual, isolated.
On our morning walk we look for things on the ground for her to bring to her friends at school. The twigs she picks are like pieces of herself that she wants to give to her friends. I pick up a stone to show her then leave it there among the wet leaves and dirt and it's like I'm putting a part of myself back to that part of existence.

Up late listening to records.
Still trying to figure out how to be. Still trying to figure out who I am.
Lately looking for clues in rock n' roll. Because of how it feels. It feels like it exists mainly to spread around this wild love for life, a pure and simple love for the world. And how it says to us we have to take action: to protect, to defend, to resist.
How every song is in one way or another about love. Fierce love which requires us to dance and sing along. Which requires this loud energy and conviction.

It's all just so cool.
And how lucky are we that there's this superabundance of cool.
I mean, there are just so many reasons to feel wonder and delight. And that on its own counts for so much and goes a long long way. It's waking up in the morning with a great song there in your head waiting for you. Would you like to dance now?
The sound of knowing, in the end, that we'll all be okay. There will be all those rough bits we'll have to get through, but it won't be without beauty, if only we can commit ourselves to it, if only we can be devoted. And after everything, the sun will set again turning everything golden.
Right now, tonight, is there anything better than sweet simple noisy rock n' roll songs about love?
My manifesto songs. Some of them.
Shadowed by a blue Am I shinin I am tryin to shine Hannah do no harm
[We all just want to not cause harm. We all just want to be suns for everyone around us.]
Look for me another day I feel that I could change I feel that I could change There's a sudden joy that's like A fish, a moving light I thought I saw it Rowing on the lakes of Canada
[We must change our lives. And we can. And we will before too long. And the world will always be there to show us how.]
all of the suckers are standing in one corner and i'm right there with them it's not that we're loners we all stand together cause in the world there's suckers and there's jerks and temptation doesn't strike the sucker we all just get fucked over fuck it suckers should be proud we're the only good people around cause temptation doesn't strike the sucker we all just get fucked over
[We believe what we need and want to believe and it does not matter if other people fuck us over. We're not giving up our convictions about what matters. We'll never let go of our hopes for the world.]
Tie me to a tiny wooden raft Burn my body, point me to the undertow Push me off into the void at last Watch me drift and watch me struggle, let me go 'Cause I really wanna know
Will anybody ever love me? (Love me) For good reasons, without grievance Not for sport
[Life will always be about the need for love. And we'll go on wondering about it, longing for it.]
darkest light second cup of coffee we haven’t talked in a long time it’s the dark that i need from your eyes when i look to the sun as it falls from the sky your voice comes quietly into my mind asking “how do you feel in this day?” i wish i could be there, put my hand on your face here it comes now, fill up the floodplain
[We are our relationships. We exist together, interconnected, or not at all.]
Love is back Being sad is not a crime Once you know that Love is back So put your little hand in mine Love comes back
[Life will at times be hard, and will hurt. Love is always somewhere to be found. And that make it okay.]
