As most of you know, or have learned, I no longer enjoy the World of Warcraft and have ended my sub; the game will forever remain within my heart, but I can no longer bring myself to play.
Where does this leave Soliri, and my other characters?
- Soliri and her brother, Scyphel, have fled; they have left Silvermoon and are on the run from enemies. They will not be returning until the state of Activision/Blizzard changes, as well as the state of the game. I have decided not to end their story, but to place it on a hiatus for the time being.
- All other characters are here and there, their daily lives carrying on as they had for the most part. Nothing with them, aside from one Asphodel, will change.
- Asphodel and his cronies, are hunting Soliri and her brother without mercy, and they will not be seen within the city, ect.
Does this mean that I’ve stopped role-playing? No. I will role-play in discord if wanted, and am engaged in other games. (( I have, in these games, disconnected myself from World of Warcraft, so it is unlikely you will find me, unless my names are asked for.))
Those of you that remain with World of Warcraft, you have no hatred from me, nor animosity - in fact, I wish you well on your adventures and I hope that Blizzard can change their game and their ways, to better suit you, their clients. Everyone take care of yourselves, and be well! ♥
I am not a lawyer, but I can decently interpret legalese and, being as I also suffer from tl;dr syndrome and assume others may as well, I took one for the team and went through the updated TOS for the post+ accounts and highlighted (what I understand to be) the most pertinent information, which ultimately comes down to this:
You cannot monetize copyrighted works (aka charge and earn money from fanfic, fanworks, etc) and if you do decide to put your fanworks behind a paywall via Tumblr, when you are inevitably sued, Tumblr will not protect you and will not defend you and you alone, personally, will be responsible for whatever monetary damages said lawsuit results in.
If anyone is a lawyer and knows I've gotten any of this wrong, please do not hesitate to correct me/this post.
Screenshots taken from Tumblr's TOS (updated 7-21-21), Stripe's Account Agreement, and the post+ FAQs.
1. Your paid account will not be hosted by tumblr; it is routed through a 3rd party.
2. By signing up for a paid account, you're entering into an agreement with Stripe, so in addition to Tumblr's TOS, you are also bound to Stripe's TOS.
3. Stripe, like Tumblr, will not defend you or protect you against any lawsuits.
4. Furthermore, you may end up owing Stripe money (indemnify = compensate)
5. Tumblr's TOS specifically states that you can't put any content on your post+ account that violates any laws, including laws that protect intellectual property rights of others. This is super important, because Tumblr's post+ FAQ also states that you can post anything that you would regularly post on tumblr, which I'm sure many will take to mean that gifsets, fanworks, etc are fair game, since all of that stuff can be posted on tumblr now. However, the difference is, you're not making money from the fanworks you're posting or reblogging now. Once money enters the equation, the game changes.
Tumblr is making it seem like any and all content goes for post+ accounts, knowing 90% of this site is fanworks. This is not true and you'll be opening yourself up for lawsuits if you charge for fanworks.
6. Tumblr further disclaims any and all liability in any legal issues.
tl;dr: Please do not make a post+ account, bc you will be opening yourself to lawsuits and if that happens, Tumblr's response will be not our problem, you agreed to all the terms which said you couldn't do that, sorry not sorry. Please protect yourself.
Warning, there are some sensitive topics below the keep reading line; if you are sensitive to discrimination and sexual misconduct as well as suicide, do not read further than this.
In the morning, before my day had begun fully, I had an article come across my news feed, about Blizzard/Acitvision and their newly found lawsuit; based on “frat-boy” behavior that includes, but is not limited to sexual harassment and sexual discrimination.
Before I tread further, let me make a point clear; I had in the last two, to three months, been considering allowing my subscription to drop, and allowing my time on World of Warcraft fade away. I had been with the game, since the beginning and I had begun to feel as if it were time to let the game go. However, there are several solid nails into the coffin, this lawsuit being the last.
If you hold onto your characters, your role-play, and remain within the game, you will find no animosity from me. I cannot and will not blame the player base, for actions within the company itself. But, I also cannot bring myself to further my subscription and play a game that brings me no joy, and sucks the life out of my pockets. It just isn’t worth dealing with it anymore, and I’ve found myself wanting to move forward with a different game and mindset, altogether.
However, coming to face the reality of what it is like being a female employee, that actively works for Blizzard and Activision, I feel terrible. We are far beyond the 1920′s, as a world and as a people - and the conduct of behavior, is horrendous. I do not condone such actions, in any of my games, or my communities.
The suit also points to a female Activision employee who took her own life while on a company trip with her male supervisor. The employee had been subjected to intense sexual harassment prior to her death, including having nude photos passed around at a company holiday party, the complaint says.
Article Here.
Now, I know not if this is the truth, but if it is? They need to be held accountable for their actions, and someone needs jail time. No one should be treated to such a degree, that they take their own life whilst on a business trip. I’m just disgusted, so disgusted. And, I don’t know what else to say about such things as all of this, kind of leaves me breathless, thoughtless. I’m very sad, so very sad. Furthermore, women were turned away from promotions, and equal pay - their rights and benefits were corroded and forgotten; why? How did it come to this?
Just, be kind to one another please? Respect one another, and if you harbor feelings of dislike for someone, leave them alone. You never know what someone is going through in real life, their hardships and trials, their pain. Check on the people you know are hurting, make sure that they’re okay. And for those of you that need someone, never be afraid to stand up and ask for help, never be afraid to sit down with someone and talk, even if it is for them to just listen to you vent.
My sub ends tomorrow, and I’ve unsubbed from the game and company itself. At this point, I find no fun within Blizzard or any of their games, as well as their “frat boy” like culture. Speaking with your wallet, speaks the loudest - and I’m giving Blizzard my “what-for” by not hanging around and giving them money.
This is a really helpful graphic. Keep in mind that it’s not always obvious when people are struggling, and if you offer a hand, sometimes it will make a world of difference.
this one comes with a pang. it is the wrinkled brow of something unpleasant sinking in. they've left to find some new adventure. or they've met someone else. and you have only just begun to understand their true importance to you. you watch them drift toward a future without you, and in that stark numbness of their absence, it hits you. Oh. oh, you want them close. you hopelessly, selfishly want them all to yourself. you'll support them no matter what, but you don't want them to want a future that doesn't involve you. you want them to read the near-invisible signs of your love and decide to take a chance on you. you never want to say that you *used* to know each other. so what are you going to do? “Oh.”
⚽ - Are you active?⛄ - Do you have a favourite holiday?♫ - Do you listen to music when you write? If yes, what kind of music, if no, why not?☤ - Have you ever had to go to the emergency room? Why?
⚽ - I try to be honestly, but I have several conditions that make it hard to be really active. But, we're working on them, and myself. <3
⛄ - Obligatory Halloween mention here!
♫ - I am strange as I don't listen to music when I write, as I love music enough that it distracts me; I sing a lot. Even if I sound like a dying cat.
☤ - Actually yes, I've gone quite a number of times for various things; I don't want to outright mention them. Though I will say, that my body isn't the best?

Mid you are RPing some criminal or rowdy thing, either acknowledge consequences/NPC guards in some form or take some kind of responsibility for what your character is doing. Not doing this just means that you’re an asshole trying to force your character’s bullshit on strangers. DONT be that guy.
For Blood Knight RPers: don’t force your bullshit on people or try to control them. That’s just twisted. You’re not a city guard, you’re above them. Trying to be a guard is just cringe, no one likes it. And I can’t believe I have to say this: saying you’re gonna kneel on another character’s neck is just in really bad taste. No one thinks it’s cool... especially not actual cops. I can’t believe I have to say aloud that that’s a stupid fucking thing to say, IC or OOC.
Also stop justifying making your character do really shitty things (like the above comment) with “oh that’s just IC.” Remember guys, your character might do something or not do something, but none of it happens in a vacuum or without your control: you can choose to not interact with another character. You don’t even need a reason. It’s your choice. Your character doesn’t control you, it’s not some sentient life form that chooses to do something and your hands just get kind controlled to type out a shitty comment.
Fuck this is why I don’t RP anymore.
Oh, also a bonus PS: if you have to make others feel bad so that you can feel good, you’re a psychopath. That goes for shoving your IRL drama at people.
This is the Internet. I don’t wanna know about how your parents are charging rent and screwed up your laundry or some shit. Especially if you’re trying to get sympathy and make others feel bad so your shitty brain can release dopamine or some shit. That’s just emotional vampirism with extra steps. Get your shit sorted out.
Stop trusting strangers on the internet with your emotional well-being.
