(From a doodle the other day~ finally got around to hitting it with photoshop.)
“What? You ship Jaylah and Scotty??? Why?”
tHIS IS WHY.
Send my muse love letters on anon. Bonus points if you drop a hint on who sent it.
(Scotty would probably be doing that really snotty waterfall crying at Jaylah’s graduation, tbh.)
Of course, she went with Engineering.
She broke every one of the academic records Scotty set when he was in the Academy.
He’d casually mentioned it to her (it just came up in conversation, and come on, it’s fun to boast a tiiiny bit about awesome accomplishments, right?) and the only thing that went through her mind was, “Challenge accepted.”
Meanwhile, Jim’s standing there like,
Can you reblog if you don't mind me coming into your ask ic, even if we've got a thread?
Send 💝 to hug my muse

keenser squinted, eyestalks practically dancing in his skull as he observed the engineer. keenser’s sleep schedule was a mess, the roylan not needing to rest as much as the average human ( and maybe, just sometimes, crossing over his boundaries ) , but he was certain that scotty was even worse than him. “sleep,” he barked, voice falling rough from his lips.
It had long-since become habit for Scotty to forgo such trivial things as sleeping and eating when he was busy working away on his beloved ship. Drinking, however, was not something he could go along time without, but even that could be put on hold when he was obsessed with focused on a task. At the moment, that task was the fixing the fluctuating temperature inside the ship. The fluctuating had mainly been happening in some of the personal quarters - namely that of the captain, who was none too happy about it. At the moment, only Scotty’s legs were visible from where he laid on his back, looking up at all that wiring. “Och, off with ya! M’fine.”
No matter that he was moving a bit slower than usual. The Scotsman was stubborn as usual.

“I still remember what is engineering, Montgomery Scotty.” There was a slight sarcastic tone in her voice. She continued looking around and as she heard Scotty´s next words, a small smile appeared on her lips. “You mean being captain?”, she asked without looking at him.
“My mistake, then,” he half-grinned, a playfully teasing quality on his tone. When she said that next bit, however, Scotty raised his brow and turned to her. “Captain? Didn’t know ye had dreams of bein’ a captain. ‘Course, I’m sure ye could do it, I just meant you’re goin’ to be part of a crew after ye graduate, if that’s truly what ya wanna do.”

She’d been supposed to stay in medbay where her daddy could see her. But Uncle Scotty had promised her that the next time she came to visit he would give her a tour of engineering and show her how some of the things worked. And she wanted to know so she had waited until her daddy’s back was turned before slipping out and wandering down as best she could remember, peeking around the corner curiously.
If there was one person Scotty probably didn't want to piss off, it was Doctor McCoy. After all, he was the one who kept the engineer's body functioning when he needed it, especially like all those times he forgot to sleep or eat because he was too busy fixing his ship. Then again, he probably wouldn't want to anger Spock, too, seeing as how the Vulcan was, well, pretty scary in a combat situation. But honestly, he got on well with basically all of the crew, even when he was arguing at them for breaking something or another. And he was fond of the good doctor and enjoyed drinking with him, so naturally he liked the little McCoy, too. When Scotty turned a corner, deep in conversation with Keesner - i.e. an argument where he was doing most of the arguing - he didn't know she was there without permission. He was only happy to see her. Surprised, too. He nearly dropped his tea. "Well hello there llassie! Nice surprise this is. Looking for your dad, are you?"
“Well, it is my old house”, the blonde alien replied, while looking around the starship. Jaylah didn´t really get why starfleet wasn´t using the ship. After all James Tee and his crew made her house, or old house, fly again and they could use it. But no, they´d rather leave it unused. “If you break something, I will not be the only one being angry at you.
Starfleet will be, too.” She came to a stop and melancholically ran her hands over a part of the wall, before she turned her gaze to the engineer.
That was Starfleet for you - always wanting to improve upon things. They probably could've improved upon the Franklin too, but for whatever reason they thought it would be better to make her into a museum for viewings of times long since past. Scotty could definitely see how it would be bittersweet for Jaylah, of course, seeing as how she'd lived there for so long, and made so many adjustments. He held his hands up defensively. "Engineering, remember? I fix things, I don' break them." With a light scoff he shook his head at her, but he wasn't really that mad. "Anyway, you'll get yer own 'house' soon enough. Once ye graduate from the academy, that is."
Salvage and Loss - Spock and Mr. Scott
Clouds of debris and gasses clung to the central hull of what had been the USS Enterprise NCC-1701. By a miracle a few lights brightened the darkness of her weapon’s ravaged hull. Spock narrowed his eyes as he piloted the shuttlecraft along the portside.
“Life support is functioning below deck four,” he informed Mr. Scott who was in the copilot’s seat. “Shuttle bay doors are open. We will need to wear environmental suits until we find a functional airlock. It is rather inconvenient that the interference from the nebula is making my scans difficult. There are minimal life signs onboard, but I am unable to determine if they are our crew or Krall’s minions. Caution is required.”
It had been two weeks since the Enterprise had been destroyed. Starfleet had sent teams to Altamid to examine the planet as well as to study Krall’s stolen technology. Lastly they’d gone to salvage what they could from the saucer section, but this was the first mission to explore the pieces of Enterprise that were still floating in the twisted coils of the nebula.
@lovestheship
To those who knew Scotty best, it came as no surprise that the USS Enterprise meant a great deal to him. So that day they had been attacked by Krall and his ‘minions’ had been a very bad day, indeed. He had just felt so helpless, unable to stop them from tearing apart his ship - a vehicle which was so much more than just a ship to him. His crewmates might have joked that the ship was his one and only true love, and that was why he spent so much time working on her, but he did love his job. Probably why he was so good at it - he just understood how things worked.
...so seeing the wreckage of his beloved ship floating out there in the darkness of space made something ache deep within his old Scottish bones. Painful as it was though, it made sense that he be the one to accompany Spock on this particular mission. He doubted there was much to salvage, and really no point anyway, but still... if they could find anything of use, or by some small miracle were able to save a lost crew-member... that would be a good day, in his mind. Looking at the ruins now, however, he wasn’t so sure how lucky they would be.
“Aye,” he agreed solemnly to Spock’s words, “hopefully they’ll be ours. Don’t exactly fancy runnin’ into Krall’s people again.” He also didn’t look forward to running into the remains of former crew-members. But it was something that had to be done.
Starter call?
Because. I need to get to it! My Scotty muse is speaking to me now. Or send me asks, or other things too!
