“Sauron was become now a sorcerer of dreadful power, master of shadows and full of phantoms, foul in wisdom, cruel in strength, misshaping what he touched, twisting what he ruled, lord of werewolves; his dominion was torment”

AND ANNATAR gathering a great force he moved over Calenardhon (Rohan) to the invasion of Eriador in the year 1695. When news of this reached Gil-galad he sent out a force under Elrond Half-elven; but Elrond had far to go, and Sauron turned north and made at once for Eregion." Unfinished Tales, Part 2, Ch IV, The History of Galadriel and Celeborn
“But Sauron was not of mortal flesh, and though he was robbed now of that shape in which had wrought so great an evil, so that he could never again appear fair to the eyes of Men, yet his spirit arose out of the deep and passed as a shadow and a black wind over the sea, and came back to Middle-earth and to Mordor that was his home.”
“in place of a dark lord you would have a queen! not dark but beautiful and terrible as the dawn! treacherous as the seas! stronger than the foundations of the earth!”
“i would make you a queen. fair as the sea and the sun. stronger than the foundations of the earth.”
“and you… my king.”
I do not deny that my heart has greatly desired to ask what you offer. For many long years I had pondered what I might do, should the Great Ring come into my hands, and behold! it was brought within my grasp. The evil that was devised long ago works on in many ways, whether Sauron himself stands or falls. Would not that have been a noble deed to set to the credit of his Ring, if I had taken it by force or fear from my guest?
'And now at last it comes. You will give me the Ring freely! In place of the Dark Lord you will set up a Queen. And I shall not be dark, but beautiful and terrible as the Morning and the Night! Fair as the Sea and the Sun and the Snow upon the Mountain! Dreadful as the Storm and the Lightning! Stronger than the foundations of the earth. All shall love me and despair!'
She lifted up her hand and from the ring that she wore there issued a great light that illuminated her alone and left all else dark. She stood before Frodo seeming now tall beyond measurement, and beautiful beyond enduring, terrible and worshipful. Then she let her hand fall, and the light faded, and suddenly she laughed again, and lo! she was shrunken: a slender elf-woman, clad in simple white, whose gentle voice was soft and sad.
'I pass the test,' she said. 'I will diminish, and go into the West and remain Galadriel.'The Fellowship of the Ring, LoTR Book 2, Ch 7, The Mirror of Galadriel
When at last all that Galadriel had desired in her youth came to her hand, the Ring of Power and the dominion of Middle-earth which she had dreamed... her wisdom was full grown and she rejected it....Unfinished Tales, Part 2, Ch 4, The History of Galadriel and Celeborn

Is Faramir come?' he asked.

Everything in the realm, from the stones to the waters, were hallowed and stainless and there was no sickness, corruption or withering. In Valinor the Valar brought what beauty and light they salvaged from the Spring of Arda before the marring, and they created new things, making Valinor even fairer than Almaren. J.R.R. I would’ve followed you my brother.
The Great Horn was an heirloom of the House of Húrin until its destruction on 26 February T.A. 3019
Boromir bore the horn with him when he went to Imladris, and held it on his lap during the Council of Elrond.
While fighting, Boromir created a sound so loud that it could be heard in Minas Tirith.
And Denethor cried
The two parts of the horn fell out of the boat, and were found several days later. One was found in the reeds near the mouths of Entwash on February 28, the other further down the river on February 30. They were brought to Denethor.
I would’ve followed you my brother.
In that dream I thought the eastern sky grew dark and there was a growing thunder, but in the West a pale light lingered, and out of it I heard a voice, remote but clear, crying: Seek for the Sword that was broken: In Imladris it dwells; There shall be counsels taken Stronger than Morgul-spells. There shall be shown a token That Doom is near at hand, For Isildur's Bane shall waken, And the Halfling forth shall stand."
― Boromir telling his dream
Boromir's journey took 110 days. He passed through the Gap of Rohan and travelled north through the lands west of the Misty Mountains. He faced many hardships, for that land had fallen into decay and the North-South Road no longer existed except for crumbling remains of the old causeways.[10] Near Tharbad he crossed the Greyflood using a dangerous ford formed by a ruined bridge and he lost his horse. The rest of the way he travelled on foot. When he reached Rivendell, he attended the Council of Elrond.
THE LORD OF THE RINGS: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) dir. Peter Jackson THE LORD OF THE RINGS: The Rings of Power, Episode 1x07: The Eye (2022 -) dir. Charlotte Brändström
When Boromir made his great journey from Gondor to Rivendell -- the courage and hardihood required is not fully recognized in the narrative -- the North-South Road no longer existed except for the crumbling remains of the causeways, by which a hazardous approach to Tharbad might be achieved, only to find ruins on dwindling mounds, and a dangerous ford formed by the ruins of the bridge, impassable if the river had not been there slow and shallow -- but wide.

“Be at peace, Son of Gondor… They will look for his coming from the white tower, but he will not return.”
Then Aragorn sang again: From the Gate of the Kings the North Wind rides, and past the roaring falls, And clear and cold about the tower its loud horn calls. ‘What news from the North, O mighty wind, do you bring to me today? What news of Boromir the bold? For he is long away.’ ‘Beneath Amon Hen I heard his cry. There many foes he fought, His cloven shield, his broken sword, they to the water brought. His head so proud, his face so fair, his limbs they laid to rest, And Rauros, golden Rauros-falls, bore him upon its breast. ‘O Boromir! The Tower of Guard shall ever northward gaze, To Rauros, golden Rauros-falls, until the end of days.
“Be at peace, Son of Gondor… They will look for his coming from the white tower, but he will not return.”
Then Legolas sang: From the mouths of the Sea the South Wind flies, from the sandhills and the stones, The wailing of the gulls it bears, and at the gate it moans. ‘What news from the South, O sighing wind, do you bring to me at eve? Where now is Boromir the Fair? He tarries and I grieve. ‘Ask not of me where he doth dwell – so many bones there lie, On the white shores and the dark shores under the stormy sky, So many have passed down Anduin to find the flowing Sea. Ask of the North Wind news of them the North Wind sends to me!’ ‘O Boromir! Beyond the gate the seaward road runs south, But you came not with the wailing gulls from the grey sea’s mouth’.
“Be at peace, Son of Gondor… They will look for his coming from the white tower, but he will not return.”
Aragorn sang: as the funeral-boat of Boromir drifted away
Through Rohan over fen and field where the long grass grows The West Wind comes walking, and about the walls it goes. ‘What news from the West, O wandering wind, do you bring to me tonight? Have you seen Boromir the Tall by moon or by starlight? ‘I saw him ride over seven streams, over waters wide and grey, I saw him walk in empty lands until he passed away Into the shadows of the North, I saw him then no more. The North Wind may have heard the horn of the son of Denethor, ‘O Boromir! From the high walls westward I looked afar, But you came not from the empty lands where no men are.’
