i have been obsessed with all things e.gorey for about as long as i can remember. such an honor to be a part of this show. if you’re in the south yarmouth cape cod area this month of march 2026, please pay the cultural center of cape cod a visit and check it out.

An exhibit inspired by the eccentric charm and dark whimsy of Edward Gorey.

Edward Gorey writes, and draws, about everyday life and—for reasons that still confound all of us—his books are a delight and extremely funny—mostly. His work as an author, book artist, illustrator, and designer is frequently categorized as Whimsically Macabre, though we prefer Edward’s own term "Sinister Cozy."

Terrible things unfold in a Gorey book—children get swept out to sea, abducted by murderous insects, fall into unsavory company, or get carried off by giant birds. Sometimes they die of boredom.

Edward Gorey reflects the influence of Eastern arts, literature and philosophy as well. His works are rife with the aesthetics of 19th century engraving techniques, the silliness of British Nonsense, cadences of an Agatha Christie novel, and the visual dynamics of silent film. Twenty-five years after his death, Gorey remains several steps ahead of us.

custom projects 2025

holy foo this year has been. hard. so beyond and hard. hard in so many ways and in the most consuming, deeply disturbing, exceptionally stressful almost beyond comprehension way.

while our client base has dropped painfully tight, (i certainly understand why) there has also been several incredibly magical, meaninful and breathtakingly special custom projects brought to my bench this year. i am floored and HONORED. beyond honored. and during this time, where my heart and head and soul and alma are so pained and achy, this focus - allowing (and requiring) myself to be a conduit for passion and emotion and honoring spirit and aura magick - designing with found bits and sentimental bits and reclaiming bits from past works of importance. it’s incredible. i cannot not emphasize enough my love for each of you and how honored and INSPIRED and touched i am and completely HERE FOR YOU.

these pieces are so personal it can be hard to explain and out of respect for those that i’ve worked with, i won’t go in to a lot of detail but just share the energy. it’s also interesting. most of these projects have involved gold which is always a joy to work with. no only 14k but 18k and the most like-buttah insanely fabulous 24k. thank you again, beauties.

so grateful for this energy. for this trust and support and belief in me. as i write this the ashes of a beautiful friend have arrived. sent to me by a beautiful friend and son of the aforementioned beauty. i’ll start working her into an 18k gold band. accompanying the ashes are quote: a photo of when she was happiest in her life for you to talk to while you work. there is a kiss from the afterlife. there is a scarf i bought for her in paris in 1986 that she wore all the time.” my heart MY HEART.

at the drive in + the mars volta

whooosh. ok.

earlier this month we saw the mars volta at the state theatre. it was ALL of the best adjectives. truly amazing and so goddamn much fun. transportive, restorative, out of this world, otherworldly the very most wonderful ART and energy. i mean. we are at a point in life where driving up the road for a nighttime show gives …a little pause. i am SO glad we went so very very thrilled.

feliz y dada opened - played three pieces. it was so immersive and eyecandy to watch and OH MY GOD the frequency? volume? intensity? of the bass holy hell i thought it might reset my heartbeat. there were more than a few moments that made me wonder if it was ok. to feel the heartbeat interference. i loved it.

then kiani medina played. both opening acts are from puerto rico. so good SO FUKING GOOD i recommend all them over the moon. when we heard there were two openers we were blink blink. but i did not feel time slow or pass once thru all of this show.

and then the mars volta. oh my goodness. so beautiful and just everything. i took a couple of videos in a flimsy attempt to hold on - of course it doesn’t do it justice. should they come close to where you’re at, i cannot recommend seeing them enough. - for a few hours i did not feel the ubiquitous and constant worry and fret of 2025. such a GIFT.

bought our tickets last april and they’ve been magnet-ed to the fridge, looking at us. counting down. i really really really really like the mars volta. i LOVE at the drive in, (ATDI) - an earlier band of omar and cedric’s. WILD for at the drive in always and knew we could not miss a chance to see this beautiful, familiar desert energy right here.

back in the day, when we got relationship of command, the song quarantined is a total fave. i knew they wouldn’t perform it at this show but buying the tickets brought it heavy back in to our rotation this year. the whole album is awesome. there’s a lyric in quarantined for all these years from the very first time i heard it i can only be, to my ears, I’LL TAKE IT WITH JELLO . I’LL TAKE IT WITH JELLOOOOOOO this is in the year 2000 - a time before i would turn to the interwebs to solve all my mysteries (aka suck out all the magic) so it has stayed i’ll take it with jello. tbh i didn’t think it that anomalous. jello being a poetic representation of american culture and complacency. maybe? i mean. it worked well enough.

turns out. that’s not what they were saying. i looked it up very recently. on the fairly unmysterious internet. so now i know the lyrics as written and i guess it makes more sense. i still can’t really hear it that way - altho it is more …hearable in this live version maybe i guess. i don’t know if it’s because now i know what’s being said. click on the button after this video for the actual lyrics and a discount code related to jello and reality.

the pieces i’ve been working on lately. they are so deeply charged. with emotion and magick and protection and expression and all of my heart and soul.

several custom works on my bench the past couple months. i’ll be sharing - slowly it seems. i’m having a hard time organizing my thoughts coherently enough to write them down. and i’m absolutely reticent to share on the big platforms. so. little by little here.

THIS piece. it slipped quietly into my inbox. so beautiful and powerful a request. and then when i realized from whom the request came, i was overcome with emotion. thank you, amor. i am so boundlessly honored to make this for you. channeling ancestors and fighting the good fight.

wmtw - maine channel 8 news on my birthday!

started my year of right!

we took part in the Maine Craft Association’s statewide event, Maine Craft Weekend and biddeford is a featured city. the day before a request came in to see if i’d be game to do a LIVE (eeep) interview for the early show about our studio and involvement with the maine craft event. ! i mean. sure… i opted for the latest slot, 7:45am. since…you know. we’re not quite downtown and could be their last interview before moving on from our little berg of biddeford.

i was medium nervous - let’s call it edgy amped - but jacob murphy was so wonderful and easy to talk with and his cameraman was very sweet and the whole thing was absolutely lovely. while yes, we do still have a working vcr, it’s not hooked up to our tv in quite the manner necessary to record…and i don’t know the last time i’ve seen a blank vcr tape and we do not have dvr or whatevs SO i just aimed my phone at the tv for a half hour and that’s how i recorded the live interview for later viewing (and cringing but it’s cool it’s cool) . hahah no actually i really like it! thanks, justin! and thanks wmtv!

whew! so our pool suffered a fatal tear over the winter - and combined with some other salted, rusted parts we kind of agreed to do a pool-less summer.

but then i got sad. so we scrambled and scraped and PULLED IT TOGETHER

seems especially important to find space for a little summertime joy. i resist scheduling much during the summer i need the ease and large swaths of time to just follow my nose. and luxuriate in our pip home from school and all these things.

and because of this, it’s absolutely the optimum time to work with me on custom pieces. summer is when i can give my deepest and fullest focus not pulled by seasonal prep etc etc. the pace is eased. i’m about to wrap up a couple of customs that i can’t wait to share with you all they are so very moving and thoughtful and a complete honor to work on and with. also in the planning stage of another very meaningful piece - i’ve said it before i’ll say it now it means the world to me the trust and invitation to celebrate and commemorate people and events with you. my heart. my HEART. and soul and alma. thank you. truly.

i know gil feels the same - he pours himself in his commissioned portraits for the same reasons. whooosh and pour of himself he does. right now he’s working on a really gorgeous project, an album cover for one of our all time faves. watch this space for the release. and in terms of his studio process and schedule, this is actually THE time to get on his docket for holiday black velvet portrait delivery. at least before a rush charge is added. keep in mind that scheduling with both of us can (of course) be paid in full, or 60% down with the balance due upon project completion.

ok. today will be a little moody for swimming, so i’m going to time my dip accordingly. tomorrow and the next day, tho, look like summertime perfection so forgive any slomo responses until later this week.
