Growing up as a child you were taught that promises weren’t meant to be created. It began as small things such as being promised a sweet treat for good behavior, those never came. As a teen you’d be promised freedom and respect, only to be denied of your individuality and ridiculed for the big differences you had amongst with everyone. You knew promises weren’t meant to be created, so why did Yuta make a promis with you?
Your empty apartment was chillingly cold, the heater broken due to the low maintenance in the building. The beginning of December was the worse time of the year because Christmas would come soon. You had moved far away from your family to create one of your own with your boyfriend in Japan. These days caused you to tumble into a small depression, everyone surrounded and snuggled next to their loved ones. Even if your relationship with your family hadn’t been the best, they were your blood. These days you began to rethink your past decisions. What if you had never decided to give up everything just for the name of Love? What was the point of love if you’d be separated a great amount of time?
Yuta was an incredible business man that traveled world wide in order to satisfy and communicate with more businesses. He was a hard worker, humble, his smile could warm up a room, just his presence made any forming stress dissolve into air. He understood your insecurities and fears, he was always there ready to battle any negative thoughts planted into your mind. It had been 2 weeks since he last had been home, leaving you to fight your battles by yourself.
“Y/n baby don’t worry, I promise you I’ll be back the first week of December. After than I’m free and we can do whatever you want, I’ve been working extra hard for a little something okay? Before you know it I’ll be back in your arms , I promise.”
The cold embraced you, your king sized bed swallowing you into a blackhole. The thoughts of you being with Yuta, having a small family with him, those happy thoughts were lulling you to a deep sleep.
The taxi dropped him off in front of his brick apartment. Everyone always asked him ,”why don’t you live in a better area, can’t you afford it?” Of course he could but anywhere he lived felt like home if you were by his side. He bent down and started to tug his suitcases up the stairs, his cold hands rubbing against each other. December was such a cold time weather wise and for his beautiful significant other. He started rummaging his coat pockets for the house key which he successfully located. He also grasped a small velvet box, on the front of it had a gold embroidery which spelled out promise. He looked down at the small box, his smile was so big it cause little crescents to form into his skin, the blood running up to his face tinting his cheeks a dusty rose. He grabbed the key and started to unlock the door giddily waiting to wrap his arms around you.
A great wave of heat surrounded you. Your eyes shot open, blood rushed to your cheeks automatically painting them red. The world around you seemed to be saturated with a warmer tint. There were small creaks coming from down the hall getting closer, there was a silhouette under the door. Your heart was beating rapidly, it felt as if it could explode out of your chest any minute. The door was slammed open to reveal a happy Yuta , running towards the bed in full speed.
“Y/N IM HOME , 恋人, I MISSED YOU SO MUCH!” He wrapped his arms around you hard, clutching the little box as if his life counted on it. Tears streamed down your face, despite everyone breaking their promises he never did. He was truly different. “Thank you baby, you never break your promises. You warm my heart so much. I never realized how much I need you to light up the world”. You both embraced each other tightly, spilling silent tears.
“He revealed the velvet box and opened it to show a ring with two diamond hearts merging together forming into one. “Y/n I’d never heart you. You’re my world. I create promises to show you how much I’m willing to heal you. I have so many more promises to make to you, such as ... I’ll love you forever no matter the circumstances. I’ll pick up the broken trails of your heart and mend them for you. Will you accept my promise baby?”
