"I am incredibly sorry to disappoint, but there are only two cells in this tower," she stated patronizingly, "one for me, and one for my husband, when he finally arrives."
"Perhaps you’re wasting your own air by complaining? …Ah, that was rude. Sorry. Let’s see— Is it that bad to have new students?"
"It is what I use my air for on a daily basis, and nothing on your realm has given me any reason to change that."
"I believe that you know the answer to that already, or are you as witless and ignorant as the rest of the insects in this tower?"
"New students? Are they aiming to devise new tortures for me?"
"You are all wasting my air..."
"Believe me, it wasn’t that interesting. Unless you consider room searches and interrogations interesting."
"It does indeed sound far more interesting than finishing all my books and listening to that witless oaf, the Odinson, prattle about his perfect, golden realm."
"It is truly unjust to confine me to my cell during the only interesting happening at this imbecilic tower, as if I would ever ally with a Midgardian!"
Syndey hadn’t meant the question literally and the information wasn’t that shocking, but she hadn’t ever thought of how Asgardians would handle there prisoners. Obviously not in a humane manor, especially since they weren’t human. Sigyn’s response to them not harming children was agina, not surprising. However, non of that appeared on her face, it remained in the exact same expression as it had before Sigyn’s comment. “Clearly they didn’t see the importance in what you did if you were imprisoned for your services.” She commented, slight sass on her voice. And I’m sure we have different definitions of ‘bastards’ as well.
Sigyn did not like this child. She was discourteous and cavalier, and reminded her too much of herself for her liking. Thor had told her that Asgard and Midgard were very different in many ways, but that was another transparent lie. In both realms, none respected or understood her ways, not even her husband. "Obviously," she answered simply.
A prisoner? Oh… "I’m sorry to hear that…" she was about to ask more when she heard the bell signalling the start of class. "I’m very sorry, but I have to go now. It was… nice… meeting you, ma’am."
"Humans are perplexing," Sigyn commented, eying Elise suspiciously, "Even for those with heightened intelligence. I still know not how your group of such lost creatures defeated the might of Tha- of my husband's army."
Elise nodded, hiding her feelings well. She was used to telling adults what they wanted to hear in order to get what she wanted. “Yeah, you seem very dedicated. If I may ask, what are you here?”
"I am...to be watched here, by the idiotic fool who believes me to be family," Sigyn explained again, for what felt like the third time in one day, "He claims that it will lessen my punishment, but he is a terrible liar."
“Quite the interesting disciplinary measure you are displaying there.”
"Fear is the most effective way to discipline children, otherwise they will be tempted to disobey your orders."
"It is not." Lara heard a bell in the distance, a reminder of where she was heading when she ran into Sigyn. She stopped herself from showing any sign of relief. "I am sorry, Mother, but I must go to class." She gave the barest hint of a polite smile before she turned and left.
"Yes dear, I am sure that Midgardian education will greatly help you in the future when all the Midgardians will have demised and their inferior knowledge lost," said Sigyn sarcastically, still retaining her sickly-sweet smile. She watched her daughter leave with a sense of slight satisfaction.
"Oh wonderful, daughter," Sigyn said mockingly, "have you been talking to the Odinson? Your jests is starting to sound alike, humourless and dull, oh, just like him." She turned sharply towards her daughter, "Have we not taught you that you are not permitted to speak to the Odinson? He will fill your naive mind with lies, and turn you against your dear father and I, and you do not want to fall for such transparent lies, do you, dear?"
Lara thought that was rich, coming from a family member who lied as easy as breathing. She decided not to mention that she had received more kindness from Thor Odinson in their short talks than she ever had received from either of her parents. She knew that there was only one way to survive the conversation when it turned this way without receiving an even greater verbal flaying. She sighed. ”Yes, Mother.”
Sigyn smiled. Her daughter was so desperate for attention and love, it was amusingly pathetic. "Good, dear" she said, as though disciplining a dog, "it seems as though you have finally gained some manners, that will truly help you to distance yourself from seeming similar to the Odinson, he has always been witless and disrespectful, hardly a good quality for a ruler, do you not think?"
Too little? Why the hell was this woman allowed to work with children? “Yes well… that was the first war to break out across two realms, so it didn’t seem so dull to us.” she shrugged “I’m sure had you been in charge it would have been much more… memorable.”
"Yes, I agree...Memorable and enjoyable, and it would have laster much, much longer that my husband's war." she said exasperatedly, with an eye roll, "And I would not have failed in such a spectacular way to a simple green beast with half a mind."
So you got yourself in trouble and this is your sentence? It was a similar, though apparently not as annoying, for Sylvia and her. “I thought torture was common for all Asgardians?” She asked, half serious and half in jest, form what she had heard of the other realms, all they did was fight and lie and sneak. She ignored the rhetorical question she had asked and continued, “What did you do to get jail time?”

"Oh yes, quite common for us in the dungeons, obviously depending on the crime, and the age of the prisoner, as they believe that it would be cruel to harm a child for a simple crime. Sentimental fools..." She sneered at the memory of her first years in the dungeons, the scars from the whips were still seared into her spine. "I merely...ridded Asgard from a few wretched bastards, but the All-father did not seem to appreciate my efforts..."
Lara’s fists clenched and her mouth tightened, but she worked to hold in her anger. She had practice ignoring the reaction to Sigyn’s jibes, so those were the only tells. ”I was accepted and chose to come here. The decision and action were both my own.” She mirrored Sigyn’s smile. ”I doubt others can say the same.”

"Well, the last thing I’d want to do is waste your time" Elise said, dropping her head a little to seem subservient. "And yes, I have heard of your husband." Loki, God of Mischief, or something of that sort. Was she a God too? "…although, I didn’t know he was married…"
"Not many on Asgard, or Midgard, are aware of our marriage, it was hidden from others who were too blind to see it in the first place." She smirked, "I am assuming that you are aware of my husbands existence from his attack on the New city of York? Yes I was always disappointed with him as a consequence of that event....he murdered far too little of the population, I am surprised that mortals even recall such a dull event."
Well you’re on the same level as me right now, so I can’t be that insignificant, Sydeny thought with a flat face before smirking once again. ”The pleasure is mine, how did you know?” She asked, adapting to the woman’s cynical words. “So Mrs. Sigyn Laufeydottir, what exactly is it that you do here?”
"I attempt to tolerate the humans here, so that the witless oaf that claims himself as my brother-in-law may watch over me, as it may lessen my prison sentence in Asgard. All transparent lies, the Odinson simply designed another torture and hid it was an idiotic lie, as is common for his wretched family."
"Hardly. I see that you have not changed at all. How wonderful, congratulations, dear. Now tell me, is your father or brother here?”
"I know not. I am sure that if they were, your…loving arms would be the first place they ran to."
"I do not doubt it," Sigyn said with a false, slightly pitying smile, "Why in Helheim did you decide to travel to Midgard in the first place, I am sure that you did not have the courage to venture out alone, did you dear?" she snickered condescendingly.
