Nate didn’t notice the fact that she was talking with her mouth full when she obviously was talking competition! If there was anyone who knew how to get Nate fired up, it was Rosa and Hugh, and they both knew his weakness for competition and his drive to win. Honestly, Nate’s Interpol side of him would say that was an exploitable weakness, but on a vacation? He didn’t fucking care!
“Now you’re talkin! I bet we could even get a head start and grab some battles now! Or at least battle someone on this ship! There’s gotta be someone, right?” With his blood pumping, Nate was just ready to rush out towards, even taking a few steps forward in his excitement, before remembering one crucial thing… Lucario wasn’t with him!
“CRAP! We left Lucario back at the room!” Man, if he knew they were gonna battle, he would definitely have brought his buddy! Lucario always loves putting his training to the test. Quickly, Nate tried to think of the options for retrieving his partner. On one hand he could rush back to the room and grab Lucario himself, but the fastest way to do that was with Arcanine and having a giant dog E-Speeding down the hallways wasn’t the best idea. Plus he’d have to worry about the donuts since he was carrying most of them. On the other hand, he could just get someone to grab Lucario, and Lucario can just find them on their own. After all, it would be training for him cause he gets to navigate a giant boat through aura, and Lucario knew what Nate’s aura felt like. Plus when Lucario does find Nate, then he could make a totally cool entrance! But… who was gonna get Lucario?
“Hey! R0T0M! Do could ya get Lucario for me? He’s in apartment 7A. I’m sure you remember the map too, so it shouldn’t be too hard to find, right?” The pokemon in his Xtransciever buzzed for a moment, before an electronic voice emanated from it. “I found the fazztest route via the electrical linezz. Ezztimated Time: 5 secondzz. I’ll make sure to lock the door on the way out too-zzz! Laterz!”
With that, the shiny electric ghost type escaped from the watch and phased into the nearest lightbulb with only a short amount of eerily electrical energy emanating out form it for a few seconds. “Thanks buddy! I owe ya one!” Nate yelled, waving goodbye to the pokemon. Turning to Rosa, Nate let out a confident smile, picking up the box of donuts in the process. “Alright! Let’s go!”
... Wait- were they battling right now!?
Rosa was totally not expecting this.
When she said she wanted to challenge him, she was thinking the battles and such startred tomorrow, along with everything else on the ship it seemed... or at least whenever they'd start sailing or leave the dock. But to have Nate send his R0t0m to get Lucario-? He wasn't messing around-! Heck- Nate wasn't even giving some love to his other partners, he had to go all the way and fetch the resting Lucario!
Huffing, Rosa puffed her cheeks, put her hands on her hips, and furrowed her brows to her friend. He wanted to start battling now- she definitely didn't have enough donuts to tolerate this yet! But... But how could she ever deny the competition...?
"... Weeellll, I was thinking the battling would start tomorrow, to start racking up the official points and stuff, like if we need a ref 'er something in their gym... buuuuttt- if you're so eager to get your butt kicked, then sure, we can battle." Rosa winked, giggling a bit to her own little comeback. Though she was also thinking they'd be battling other people to try and get points... but of course, it would always come down to the two of them battling, right? Gosh! Sometimes, they were more like rivals than adversaries, weren't they?
