The time has finally come and the doors to the Rondez-View ballroom finally open to allow for the most punctual of guests to file in. After sneaking in a few minutes early, Blue lies low behind a set of speakers, psyching herself up and waiting for her cue. Only a few days ago did she learn that she and Nate had been granted the privilege of performing the ball’s opening dance, and the two of them have been practicing tirelessly.
True to both their characters, they aim to WOW... so every step, every move has to be perfect.
Most of the other guests are mingling around the tables now. A few of them eye the dance floor wistfully, as if they’re waiting for the music to change to something danceable so they can let loose. Rosa appears beside her to let her know everyone else is in position and then nods toward one of the techs in charge of the lights.
On Blue’s cue, the lounge music stops and the room goes DARK.
She steps up to the edge of the stage where, moments later, a spotlight shines down on her. With her heart pounding in her ears, she counts to three and strikes a sultry pose just as the first few chords of Ariana Granbull’s Dangerous Woman break the silence. As the song progresses through its slinky Bond-esque intro, she saunters down the floor, the spotlight following her every move.
Finally, she reaches the center of the stage. She tosses her hair playfully over her shoulder and strikes another pose right before her dance partner slides up behind her. Nate’s hand settle on her shoulders before he spins her around and pulls her into his arms. Her arms wrap around his neck for support and the corners of her lips quirk upward as she whispers ‘let’s break a leg’ seconds before he dips her.
