Partway through my first playthrough, and it's absolutely diabolical that you can have sex with Meredith, who has someone punch you and point a gun at you, but Takemura isn't a romance option even though he saves your life, trusts you with his Sad Backstory, appears to be concerned for your wellbeing on multiple occasions, and texts you a cat picture... He is unreasonably charming and I need to be able to bring him on every single sidequest with me!!

(Also I am feeling Very Normal about the way he kind of steps in between V and Oda in that initial meeting once Oda starts getting more aggressive... Head in hands...)

part of me *understands* the lack of Takemura romance from the perspective of his character’s entire premise in the game being to demonstrate a “humanised” perspective from Arasaka / Corps and you *could* just say it’s because they wanted to maintain a platonic bond forged in an unlikely alliance through shared hardship and “trauma” bonding and they didn’t want to “spoil” it by making it just another romance option ( Like how basically every one of V’s canon romances are all more or less, is born) but I also have to agree if we can fuck Meredith, a member of the opposing Corporation we are taught to humanise, then why can’t we do so from the other side with Takemura? Idk, I have a pretty good opinion as to why that is beyond just wanting to “preserve” a bond that remains platonic (maybe to shine a light on Takemura’s own issues with his anatomy and ‘obligations’ in Japan ) but I will keep my lil mouth shut to not stir the pot, so to speak.
