I recently reread my massive story series "The Inventor," immersed myself in my love for my Alternate History, and remembered I'd never shown the old, but precious, sketches from those years.
There are both canon characters and original ones. Maybe one day I'll publish this three-book series about the rebirth of Gallifrey and the Master's role in it in English...
I don't write about the Jedi very often, but I'm glad that the alternate history version of Outbound Flight offered the opportunity to show a more mature Lorana Jinzler and her former Padawan.
This created a completely different perspective on the encounter between the former Master — Jorus C'baoth — and his apprentice — Lorana Jinzler.
How I feel when Thrawn and Thrass talk about Chaos politics and the Guardian Society Alliance… And when I explain to the editor what they're talking about....
NO. SERIOUSLY.
I even have maps to help me understand what's going on. Simple story, yeah. "Simple."
My editor and I are currently editing Chapter 7 of Exiles, and I'm so excited that the chapter I was so dreading because of Thrass has become one of my favorites… because of Thrass.
The opportunity to add more dialogue between the brothers, especially dialogue where the older brother points out inaccuracies, and to show the younger brother's reasoning from a military perspective… Mmmm, I'm in love.
Today is a day of work on the Legacy period in the Hybrid AU.
I drew two daughters of two couples.
Annika Skywalker (ОС) is the daughter of Prithi (Legend) and Luke Skywalker.
And Jimillia Raw (ОС) is the middle daughter of Una (ОС) and Thrawn.
Both Annika and Jimillia are hybrids. Annika shares much of her mother's appearance, a Chalactan, with only her eyes being a cross between her parents' colors. Jimillia, however, is a distinct Umbaran-Chiss hybrid. Unlike her older brother, her skin is light blue, she started going grey early, and her eyes seem to have a translucent scarlet film.
I also like that Skywalker is still shorter.
And while Jimillia favored airy, lightweight clothing, Annika is literally the personification of the phrase, "I won't let you leave the Empire without armor, or your grandmother and all of us will be worried." I'm sure their Commander-in-Chief, Parck, said it.
I love these girls, who, despite being from different countries, have fought side by side through countless battles.

Мне ещё нравится, что Скайуокер по-прежнему меньше по росту.
И когда как Джимиллия отдавала предпочтение воздушным и лёгким одеждам, Анника — это буквально олицетворение фразы: «Без брони из Империи не выпущу, а то твоя бабушка и все мы будем переживать». Уверена, это сказал их главнокомандующий Парк.
Люблю этих девочек, которые несмотря на разные государства прошли через множество битв бок о бок.
For the last month, I've been WANTING to get to the drabble where Voss Parck's Imperial delegation comes to Natasi Daala's Empire and they ✨talk✨.
But because of work, I keep putting it off. However, there's only one concept that has come to mind: the attitude toward Skywalker.
Yes, certainly because of her last name, Annika had a hard time living in the Imperial Remnant: she experienced bullying, the need to prove her worth, and so on and so forth.
Is it a joke? The child of two Republic pilots, and her father, a renowned Jedi who laid the foundation for the collapse of the Galactic Empire.
But later... Especially when Annika began making forays into the "Great Galaxy" and observing the New Republic, part of her was grateful to be in the Empire.
"Thanks to the Emperor, I didn't suffer my father's fate..."
Strange, huh? But let me explain.
The fact is that, due to the upbringing of the "old guard" of Imperials who stood at the origins of the Voss Parck Remnant, this same "old guard" of Force-sensitives was perceived through two prisms: either they were Jedi, who were responsible for the Clone Wars and the corruption of the Galactic Republic (everything the Galactic Empire fought against), or they were Inquisitors, or the Emperor's rabid Force Hands, or even worse, the Supreme Commander (everything that inspired fear and which they were glad to partly rid themselves of with the collapse of the Galactic Empire).
Therefore, Annika was perceived not only as the daughter of Republicans, but also as one of the two extremes mentioned above.
And so, even when Parck let Annika study with mentors from an allied nation, it wasn't driven by the need to "acquire an ideological hero," but by the need to acquire a strategically useful tool.
After all, Force-sensitives are just as much a strategic resource in war as destroyers and officers, especially when fighting nations that have trained Force-sensitives.
Judging by the Legends, Luke Skywalker gradually came to be regarded as a "seer" and a "legend"; his words were readily believed, heeded, and so on.
But Annika, even after her training, didn't achieve such status, because the Imperials, especially in the Parck Remnant, were accustomed to relying on their own strength, the entire military complex, and Imperial education. Yes, having a Force-sensitive became a necessity, but did this necessity lead to special treatment for Annika in the service?
Not at all.
Rather, she was thrown into such dangerous sections of the front, where it was hopeless and bleak, as if they sometimes hoped the girl would die. But no. It didn't work.
Her words weren't listened to unconditionally. She wasn't elevated to absolute status, and she wasn't given a rank lightly. Every award, every notch on her rank bar, was earned through sweat, blood, and death...
I'd say the Imperial Remnant where Annika grew up had a completely rational approach, where science, education, and weaponry were valued more than the existence of Force-sensitives. Rather, the latter was a pleasant bonus, later a necessary tool.
And it was from this that the "Knights of the Empire" unit was later born—serving not the Force, not Light, or Darkness, but the Empire itself. Greetings to the Fel Knights of legend.
And so, in sum, Annika, observing the myths and hopes that surrounded her father's figure in the New Republic, was partly grateful that she wasn't treated with special treatment. Because of Palpatine's propaganda and the rise of a generation wary of the Jedi. Because of the existence of the Inquisitorius and the Emperor's Hands, synonymous with fear and death for the Imperials.
This shaped her personality in its own way, and most importantly, the Imperials in the military understood that, with or without a sensitive element, they could win battles by relying on the existing military complex.
And so, yes.

В последний месяц всё ХОЧУ добраться до драббла, где делегация Империи Восса Парка приходит к Империи Натаси Даалы и они ✨разговаривают✨
Но из-за работы всё откладываю да откладываю. Впрочем есть единственный концепт, который пришёл мне в голову: отношение к Скайуокер.
Да, безусловно из-за своей этой фамилии Аннике не жилось просто в Осколке Империи: она прошла и через буллинг, и через необходимость доказать, что она чего-то стоит, и прочее-прочее.
Шутка ли? Ребёнок двух республиканских пилотов, причём отец имениты джедай, положивший начало распаду Галактической Империи.
Но вот позднее… Особенно когда Анника стала делать вылазки на территорию «Большой Галактики» и наблюдать за Новой Республикой, она одной частью была благодарна, что оказалась в Империи.
«Благодаря Императору, я не повторила судьбу отца…»
Странно, да? Но сейчас попытаюсь пояснить.
Дело в том, что из-за воспитания «старой гвардии» имперцев, которые стояли у истоков Осколка Восса Парка, эта самая «старая гвардия» чувствительных к Силе воспринимали через две призмы: либо это джедаи, которые были повинны в Войне Клонов и разложении Галактической Республики (всё то, с чем боролась Галактическая Империя), либо это инквизиторы или бешеные силовые Руки Императора, или того хуже Главнокомандующий (всё то, что внушало страх и от чего были рады одной частью избавиться с крушением Галактической Империи).
Потому Аннику воспринимали не только, как дочь республиканцев, но и из обозначенных выше двух крайностей.
И потому даже когда Парк отпустил Аннику учиться у наставников из государства-союзника, это было продиктовано не необходимостью «заиметь идейного героя», а необходимостью получить стратегически-полезный инструмент.
Ведь чувствительные к Силе — это такой же стратегический ресурс, необходимый на войне, как и разрушители, так и офицерский ресурс. Особенно когда воевать приходится с государствами, у которых есть обученные чувствительные к Силе.
Вот только если судить по Легендам, к тому же Люку Скайуокеру постепенно стало отношение как к «провидцу» и «легенде», его словам были готовы поверить, прислушивались и тд.
А вот Анника даже после обучения не заимела такого статуса, потому что имперцы, особенно в Осколке Парка, привыкли полагаться на собственные силы, весь комплекс вооружённых сил и имперское образование. Да, иметь чувствительного к Силе стало необходимостью, но было ли из-за этой необходимости особое отношение к Аннике на службе?
Отнюдь.
Скорее её наоборот кидали в такие опасные участки фронта, где было безнадёжно и беспросветно, словно порой надеялись, что девчонка помрёт. А нет. Не получалось.
К её словам не прислушивались безоговорочно. Её не возносили в абсолют и не давали звания с лёгкой руки. Каждая награда, каждый «кубик» на плашке это достигнутое потом, кровью и смертями…
Я бы сказала, что Осколок Империи, где выросла Анника — имел абсолютно рациональный подход, где науке, образованию, вооружению отдавали большее значение, чем существованию чувствительных к Силе. Скорее второе было приятным бонусом, впоследствии необходимым инструментом.
И именно на этом родилось в последствии подразделение «рыцарей Империи» — служащих не Силе, не Свету либо Тьме, а именно Империи. Привет рыцарям Фела из легенд.
А потому, подытоживая, Анника, наблюдая за тем, какими мифами и надеждами обросла фигура отца в Новой Республике, отчасти была благодарна, что к ней не было особого отношения. Из-за пропаганды Палпатина и становления поколения, с опаской относящихся к джедаям. Из-за существования Инквизитория и Рук Императора, бывшие синонимами страха и смерти для имперцев.
Это по-своему сформировало её личность, а главное — имперцы в рядах вооружённых сил понимали: с чувствительным или без них они могли выиграть битвы, полагаясь на существующий комплекс вооружённых сил.
А потому да.

I've been walking around for days now, thinking how amazing Daala is as Chair of the Moff Council and, in fact, the leader of the Imperial Remnant on the capital city of Bastion.
And her agreement with Parck is literally walking a tightrope.
Amazing, stunning, extraordinary, and magnificent, I really want to sit down and write this passage out.
Хожу уже несколько дней и думаю, насколько шикарна Даала как председатель Совета Моффов и по факту руководящая Осколком Империи на столице на Бастионе.
А её договор с Парком - это буквально хождение по острию ножа.
Удивительная, потрясающая, необыкновенная и великолепная, как же хочется сесть и расписать этот отрывок.
