justice Ā : Ā does Ā your Ā muse Ā find Ā it Ā easy Ā to Ā be Ā impartial Ā in Ā emotional situations Ā ?
lucan believes wholeheartedly that things that are of benefit to him to be impartial. a situation is that works out unfavourably for him is the only time he recognises a compromise or decision as anything less a completely fair opportunity. in situations where there is nothing to be gained, of which there are few ( considering ending a situation entirely to save his time is a gain of itās own ) , he can be trusted to be impartial as he doesnāt care one way or another.
temperance Ā : Ā does Ā your Ā muse Ā make Ā plans Ā ? Ā how Ā impulsive Ā are Ā they Ā ? Ā has Ā this Ā gotten Ā them Ā into Ā good Ā / Ā bad Ā situations Ā and Ā how Ā have Ā they Ā dealt Ā with Ā them Ā ?
until the death of his father, lucan detrimentally rigid in the plans that were made for him, and the plans that he forged for himself. he was inflexible and dogmatic, unable to focus on any goal until the first had been completed. this often bought about missed opportunities and perfectionism delaying and often halting projects entirely. while lucan maintains that the first impulsive decision he made in his life was his lady wife, it could be argued that lucan was somewhat unstable before his year-long endeavour of the free cities, due to the lengthy and incomplete process of healing from the injuries sustained fighting the dornish rebellion. with his routine effectively crushed and duties removed from him during this period, lucan made the decision to join his uncle in the first place. had he been fine and healthy, it was unlikely he ever would have travelled east. marrying his wife was a mistake, that has always had potential to be remade into something advantageous that he still underestimates the value of. as for who lucan is now, heās realised the importance of fluidity. his quick-moving ideas make his intentions difficult to mark when treated as individual occurrences, but stepping back from the picture it is easy to see that what lucan does is for house lannister alone.
the Ā chariot Ā : Ā how Ā much Ā does Ā your Ā muse Ā care Ā about Ā winning Ā ? Ā are Ā they Ā a Ā sore Ā loser Ā ?
heāll lose a battle to win a war, but not a hair closer. once you have truly lost, the world will know that you can be beaten and what then are your words worth ? he is the sorest of losers, but his willingness to succeed to any end makes the instances few and far between. beat him in a joust ? heāll win the next tourney. marry a son to a highborn girl ? heāll marry his daughter to a prince. heās petty, but effective.

he was touring the free cities at the time with his uncleĀ šššššš ššššššššš, looking to foster relationships with the east for lucrative trading, buying influence with lannister gold. his father had worried him with the thoughts of disruption to their wealth with the dornish rebellion, badgering that old outsourcing their trade would keep house lannister on the move even while the country ravaged itself with war. of course in his fever-induced paranoia, he did not consider the long term logistics of trading with the otherwise of the world in the midst of war, combined with the months of travel and the money that was squandered with it. while the long term trade dreams were crushed once the reality of the journey was cemented, lucan was faced with an impracticality of his own. aurelia rogare, daughter of the family who housed him during his time spent in lys. an unearthly beauty and too steep of a temptation for a man with an intended back home in the westerlands.
the match had been made young, postponed for years at a time from both sides of the family, when lucan was wounded fighting for the crown, it was decided that their marriage would wait until he was fully healed and mobile again ( or in less polite terms, sure he might produce an heir ) lucan healed and again an excuse was made; he must treat on behalf of his father with the free cities; they would marry upon his return. no one had expected the dutiful lord lucan to return wed to another woman.
sheād been there, as he broke the wax seal and read with heavy eyes his father was dead, succumbing to a fever. he was to be ruling lord upon his return, no more safety rails or sage words to guide him. he had spent thirty-one years dogmatically dutiful, and he was now left with an unbearable free will that spoiled in his belly when it mixed with grief. his temptation proved stronger than his will, bedding and soon after marrying aurelia to avoid the confrontation of disgracing such a wealthy familyās daughter.
his return to the westerlandās was met with animosity. with a single vow, he had tarnished his name. he had gone east commended for his prowess in battle, a diligent and well-respected son, soon to be married to a prominent woman of his sworn banners and returned with a foreign bride, who served only to provoke them with the otherness of her mannerisms. the gowns she wore caused offence, her disregard for the status quo of westeros was taunting and lucan knew before word had even managed to reach him that heād made an error.
heās made the most of his mistake, but struggles to live with the consequences. his wife is fantastic at bringing lordās to his side, but at the cost of his pride. he knows how they whisper, that the foreign mage bewitched the lion of the rock, struck him dumb and blind as she smiles for other men. while they might make for a charming couple, lucan grows anxious that his marriage is sabotaging his political endeavours even years later.
he is currently declared for house targaryen, but is open to the a possible alliance with the north should their campaign for independence begin to look promising, hoping that he might carve the west out for himself and return his name to the glory he dreamt of before his father's demise.
