“So let’s agree that I keep your life incredibly interesting, shall we?” Emilia offered. Interesting was a hard word in the situation when she knew that she made Lucia’s job far harder than it needed to be. It wasn’t something she did purposely, she just…she wasn’t someone who stayed and followed the rules. “We can stop by some of the stores down there. I think there’s a bakery.”

“I would say interesting and potentially dangerous,” she says with a small shrug. Not that she really cared, her life would be dangerous even if she wasn’t working for the royal family. She’d just go back to working in the military like she had been previously. “Well if you’re going to pay me in sweets I think I can make a small exception.”

A smile spread on Emilia’s lips as she slid onto a chair across from her guard. “So” she began, picking up a piece of toast from her own plate and bringing it to her lips. “How ya doing?” she asked before taking a bite. “I know most of your plans seem to involve making sure I don’t get myself into trouble, but how about we do that in the village today instead of in the palace?”

Lucia looked up from her plate of eggs, munching on a piece of bacon. “I’m doing okay,” she replies to Emilia and rolls her eyes at the royal. “Well if you didn’t actively seek out trouble then I wouldn’t be so involved all of the time, Mia,” she points out the to princess. “I could fancy a trip down to the village. The fresh air would be relaxing,” she says with a nod.

Lucia had gone down to the kitchens looking for some sweets to eat. She had a horrible sweet tooth for pastries. She took took about one of everything that had just been freshly made and was going to head up to her room to eat when she almost bumped into Sabrina up. She gave the royal a sheepish smile, “Ummm yeah….I have a very bad sweet tooth. Just dont mention anything to my boss. They dont need to know I could be paid in pastries and work happily.”

Lucia looked up from the book she was reading and gave Thomas a small smile when she saw him. “Looks like you caught me,” she says with a small laugh. She was more of a private kind of person when it came to her free time, so a lot of it was spent reading new materials just to gain some extra insight of knowledge into an area or topic that she didn’t know too well.

Lucia looked over at Mia and sighed. She was having some issues with her leg again with it locking up on her, but she didn’t want to go have it checked out, worried that she would lose her job if the information got back to the king and queen. “Mia, you can’t tell your parents, but I need to go get checked out by the medical staff. I’m having problems with my right leg.”

Cassandra looked down at the card near her name tag once the announcement came to an end. Queen of Hearts. Interesting. Clearing her throat, she looked around to see if the person with the matching card was sitting in her immediate vicinity. It quickly became clear that they weren’t so the woman got to her feet and began moving from table to table until she found the matching card. “Hello.” she greeted, offering the other a small smile. “I believe that you also have the Queen of Hearts, which would make you my match. Or….pair for this little hunt.” she laughed lightly. “I am Cassandra.”

Lucia didn’t really care for events like this, being such a work oriented person, so when she looked down at her card she kind of just stood there instead of follow through with looking for her partner. Looking around she realized that mostly everyone had started to move, so she detached from her spot in the corner and and gave a small nod to the woman who had approached her with the same card. “I’m Lucia, it’s nice to meet you,” she says with another small nod. “Lets go head over to the butler and get this started yes?”

It was so cold out. No - it wasn’t exactly cold, but it was certainly dark, and it was the type of darkness that made her feel somewhat cold inside and out – the cloak she’d made sure to keep away form her Princess’ eyes did very little in her favor but hide her face. Sure, it couldn’t exactly hold anything against her, sneaking off the publicly approved party in the palace in favor of the one meant for the townfolk and staff alike – but she was still stuck in that limbo of not-quite a royal, just a Lady, and not-quite an anonymous person, but one with a direct line to a future Queen.

Pulling the dark hood over her hair, she barely spared another anxious glance around her before she was walking quickly into the village, trying not to be flattened by some enthusiastic locals. Perhaps it would’ve been for the best if she’d never set a foot outside – even if she did want to try and see him again. Her heart nearly jumped out of her throat as she almost collided into someone, then, the hood falling quite helplessly onto her shoulders before she could stop it. “I- I apologize. I wasn’t watching my steps. Are you hurt?”

Lucia was just on her way to leaving the village to head back to the castle when someone ran into her. She let out a sigh, and reached down to pick up the bag she had dropped trying not to get mad. When she heard Sabrina’s voice, she quirked her eyebrow at the woman. “What are you doing out here so late at night? Dont you hate the cold?” she asks with a small laugh and brushed off her jacket she was wearing. “I’m just heading back to the castle, you coming with?”

Claire stood behind the counter of her bookstore, the walls covered from floor to ceiling with overflowing bookshelves. Most of the tables and chairs that also found themselves scattered around her shop were also covered in books, some used and some new. But the woman didn’t care, this was how she liked things. She had seen royals and staff from the castle beginning to explore the village, walking slowly past her shop window as they took in the sights. It amazed her how clueless they could be, unaware of what they were really going to be experiencing in Russia. No royal had yet to wander into her shop, just the regulars in the village she had gotten used to. But when the bell on the door sounded, indicating that someone had entered, she found herself facing a new face.

She searched her memory as she thought of the files she had seen. Not a royal, but a guard. Name not one she remembered. “Hi. Anything you’re looking for in particular?”

Lucia needed a little bit of time to herself. She was able to take a small break and head to the village for about an hour while her royals stayed at the castle. She had gotten herself a coffee from one of the local shops, walking around until she saw a bookshop come into her line of sight. Pushing the door open, she heard the bell jingle before looking over at who she presumed was the owner of the shop. “You have any survival books, or field guides about this area? Like wildlife, fauna, things like that?” she asks, walking over to the counter.
