“This fantastic contraption, called the ‘Routefinder’, showed 1920s drivers in the UK the roads they were travelling down, gave them the mileage covered and told them to stop when they came at journey’s end.

The technology – a curious cross between the space age and the stone age – consisted of a little map scroll inside a watch, to be ‘scrolled’ (hence the word) as the driver moved along on the map. Lucid Elzwar

It's debatable how much being run over by a four-horse carriage as a kid shaped who she is now, but Lucid was never exactly normal to begin with. Pink haired, cross-eyed, and literally sleepless, Lucid Elzwar seems an unlikely heroine - at least to those unaware of her less-than-typical abilities.

It's been ten years since a strange man came to Elzwar Inn and took away her beloved brother Moon, and Lucid has finally found the freedom to leave her home and track him down. Together with her cousin Duncan Elzwar and friend Lorn Spottswoode, Lucid has set out towards the great city-state of Adinola in search of answers.

Meanwhile, an unknown plague has spread across the land as people's very own nightmares begin to manifest into murderous beasts. Lucid's priorities lie solely in finding her brother, but who better to fight a Plague of Nightmares than a girl who never sleeps? And who could turn down the call to battle when even the Gods start to take an interest...?

There’s an aspect of intense love that is…just…the words that you use to describe this love are terrible and off-putting, but they are the only way to adequately express them. Dali has a quote about loving someone so much you want to eat them – sometimes you so desperately want to hold on to somebody that you want to crush them. You don’t actually want to hurt them or do harm to them, but they are ways to describe just how much you need, want, desire somebody. There’s a lot of overlap in these horrible sounding things that actually describe a true, deep passionate love.
