I like that you include at least Kurt in famous bisexuals. It pisses me off that people won't recognize it solely because he dated only girls in his lifetime. They say that it was only to piss off people or troll the journalists that's what he would say those things... I strongly believe that he was but a tiny part of me remembers the " I am not gay " in his journals or " I'm a heterosexual " in a interview so Idk... Your thoughts ?
Hey, sorry I missed this message! God, I have so much to say about this. Kurt and Krist and Dave are all confirmed bisexuals. Kurt and Krist both came out publicly about it several times while Nirvana was a band, and Dave has gotten more bold talking about it over the years. The sad thing is that this information gets ignored and covered up because people are homophobic. Iâm actually writing a book right now that will cover a lot of this info and make sure itâs not forgotten.
Did you know Kurt also wrote, âGod is gay and so am Iâ in his journal? Itâs in there (canât remember the exact page off the top of my head). Basically, Kurt said that he was both straight AND gay multiple times, and then in 1993, he finally used the word âbisexualâ in his interview with The Advocate (the famous gay magazine). He actually came out as gay to his mom when he was a teen, but said she was homophobic and banned him from seeing his only close friend at the time, a fellow classmate who was gay. He even wrote a song as a teen that was about what itâs like to grow up gay or bi in a family/society that hates you: Laminated Effect
This song shows young Kurtâs confusion about bisexuality, as both the characters, âJohnny the homoâ and âLucy the lesbianâ end up in a relationship with each other at the end of the song. You can tell Kurt grew up in a place where you were either a âgood, clean, straight kidâ or a âsick, perverted faggotâ - bisexuality almost certainly was never talked about.
Kurt may have only âofficiallyâ dated girls, but he was clearly more than friends with both Krist and Dave (and they were with each other, too). Check it out:
âDid you know that Iâm gay? [âŚ] If somebody tried to take away my gay rights it would have been really bad, because I really like to buttfuck. Itâs fun. It feels good.â-Kurt at the No On 9 gay rights benefit gig (which Nirvana organised!), 10 Sept 1992(this is on youtube)
âHomo-sex rules! Youâre not a man till youâve sucked a cock. Youâre not. Only a man knows what another man likes.â-Krist, 21 Sept 1991
âIf there were anything I could tell a young band, itâd be just âDonât do coke.â Go take Ecstasy and fuck your friends and buy giant bags of weed and wear a condom. â-Dave, Spin Magazine 1 Aug 2005(emphasis mine)
âI looked at Krist and Kurt as soulmates. The two had such a beautiful, unspoken understanding of each other.â-Dave, 24 Sept. 2013, Rolling Stone Magazine
Audience member: So, 22 years ago, you guys were on SNLâin dressesâand there was a man-on-man kiss. That was revolutionary.Dave: You know, Iâm glad that some people think that. [audience laughter] Iâm not kidding! You know one of the things we wanted to representâwe were the antithesis of a lot of that, like, bullshit heavy metal, that homophobic jock rock, because we truly grew up in an underground community where everybody was different and everybody was cool and thatâs what was so great about it. I mean, you know, I used to get fucking chased around my neighborhood in Virginia, with people calling me a âfag!â, because I listened to punk rock. So then I was like, âIâm in the biggest fuckinâ band in the world!â [flips the bird]-Bottle Rock Napa Valley 2013
âKrist and Kurt had a legendary lifetime connection. Those guys were soulmates. Theyâd been through so much together, from Aberdeen to the success of âNevermindâ. They fuckinâ shared everything, and they were the kind of friends that didnât have to talk to each otherâthey just knew.â -Dave, Rolling Stone, 2005
Also at No On 9, shortly after talking about how he likes buttsex:
Fanquestion: If you could see Kurt Cobain one more time, what wouldyou say to him? Krist: I love you.-Q Magazine,March 2003
âKrist was Kurtâs best friend - always. The two of them had aconnection beyond words. I think they were closer to each other thanthey were to anybody else.â-Dave, 13 Sept. 2001, RollingStone Magazine
Kurt is sitting on Kristâs lap in this picture:
âKurt heard [my demos], and kissed me on the face, as he was ina bath. He was so excited. He was like, âI heard you recorded somestuff with Barrett [Jones].â I was like, âYeah.â He was like,âLet me hear it.â I was too afraid to be in the same room as helistened to it.â-Dave, 2014, Sonic Highways
âNo, I cannot forgive you yetYou leave my heart in debtI should have knownI was inside of youI should have knownThere was that side of youCame without a warningCaught me unawareâ-Foo Fighters featuring Krist, I Should Have Known
âI remember seeing him in high school a few times andthinking he was definitely somebody I wanted to meet. But I never sawhim other than at pep assemblies. He would usually participate insome kind of a skit, or something. And I remember thinking, God, hewas this really clever, funny, loudmouth person. I kept, you know, always making it obvious that I wanted to be in a band, I wantedsomeone to play with, but still Chris never wanted to. Until I madethe Fecal Matter tape with Dale and always making it available forChris to hear, and he just never bothered to listen to it until oneday he just came over and said, âI finally listened to that tapeyou made. Itâs pretty good. You know, we should start a band.âOk! Finally! [laughs]â -Kurt, 1992 About A Son (theadoration in his voice here as he talks about Krist is so lovely)
And now itâs Dave sitting on Kristâs lap:
âChris and Shelli broke up. God am I relieved! [âŚ] Iâm verycontent with the relationship Chris, Chad and I have.â-Kurt,Journals, pg 30
âDear Kurt,Itâs been 20 years since you left and Ithink about you every day.- Love, Kristâ(5 Apr.2014, Kristâs Twitter)
Interviewer: âDo you still have dreams aboutKurt?âKrist: âI do. And itâs beautiful!Itâs just loving. You know when you lose somebody and you see them ina dream and you just feel all this love? Itâs nice.â(7Oct 2015 FOX Business Network Interview)
Aaaaanyway, that was a long-ass post and I hope you enjoyed it and it gives you some ammo to argue with stupid homophobe âfansâ of Nirvana.
