You know what's gonna suck if zeal gets exonerated? All the people calling for him to be hanged are gonna quietly delete their posts, pretend they never talked shit about him, and move on like his life wasn't ruined by this
just go on any of the zeal hashtags below and you'll see the rabid dogs I'm talking about
very, VERY big ask and probably setting up an entire Gwain Saga Fic AU for years to come (and also a very expanded form of the Gwain's Snarky-Human-Husband ask I made a while ago)
Back when Gwain was a teen/young adult we saw her having to take up the throne, maybe her future husband dropped in then. Gwain, (and also basically everyone else in Teora) is fearful of humans due to one of them (or maybe multiple) arriving and causing a disastrous event (maybe such as going mad with their newfound powers and terrorizing the kingdom). Gwain, being vulnerable and alone once her mother died and her sister left to settle new lands meant she didn't have anyone to turn to until a few years later. a blind man, younger than her physical appearance (she looks to be in her mid-twenties to somewhere in thirties, but she's truly 100+ years old), wearing a blindfold arrived in the Land of Gwain.
Since he supposedly doesn't know Gwain is the queen, he treats her casually but with respect like he would to a stranger. He uses his "blindness" as an excuse to treat Gwain normally but he really does act as though she is a person equal to him. not tripping over himself to talk to her or sucking up, in fact he's a bit of a sarcastic asshole/smartass, but in the way you just mess around with your friends. He's very genuine, real, kindhearted to those in need, and she warms up to him, especially when a young Ami likes having a semi-father-figure around
Little does she know, but he's actually a human and he's been wearing a fake blindfold this whole time to avoid persecution. He just pretends he can sense with magic. One day she opens up about just how much she hates humanity on a personal level, and not wanting to lie to her about it any longer, he sighs, tells her he's a human, and asks her if that changes anything. After all, he still is the same guy who treated her like an actual person
Conflicted, Gwain locks him in the dungeons for a month or so instead of executing him on the spot, coming down to visit every few days. She comes to the conclusion it ultimately doesn't matter, he's still the same Y/N, and she still likes having him by her side
She comes to bring him out of the dungeons and he makes a joke about public state execution, but she actually winces at the idea and just asks him to keep being with her. She later arranges for Luna to create a custom visor for him; one of those Nier Automata tech blindfold visors to cover his eyes and but give him more an actual HUD (owing another favour to Luna in the process after begging her to save Ami, but it's worth it for him)
Fast forward a few years and by the time Geo rolls around, she's still hostile to humans as a whole. However, it's not to the point of kill-on-sight and keeps saying her husband is One of the Good Ones. although her officially-and-publicly loved Royal Consort still has to pretend to be a Teoran, Teora is slowly, slowly winding down their fear of humanity, and maybe one day Gwain can proudly show off who her husband really is
so i guess the moral of the story is: never ask a human-hater what her husband is
Gwain finds out her husband is a human
A/n: Gwain may be racist against my entire kind, but she's also hot so that makes it ok, that's definitely how it works. Thank you for requesting, and I hope you enjoy!
Gwain Heddeviand x male reader
It had only been about three years since Gwain took the throne following her mother's passing, a mere speck in the lifespan of a Teoran, yet she could already feel the pressure of her role as queen getting to her. Even with her sister dealing with any dangers in foreign lands, Gwain herself had already faced many struggles within her own kingdom: Vania escaping her prison and challenging Gwain to a duel, the arrival of the first human in Teora and her adopting a young girl with a lethal disease.
The only thing Gwain hated more than the constant threats to her throne was the silence that always followed after. With her knights often busy on duty and her daughter too young to speak, the lack of noise that once echoed endlessy through the castle halls filled Gwain with unease, and she found herself constantly on guard against whatever or whoever might come for her next. How ironic it was, that she now longed for the boisterous banter of her older sister that she used to avoid at any cost.
Barely able to fill her mother's shoes and fulfill her duties as queen, Gwain decided to take a breather by walking around the streets of her kingdom for a while. Her guards tried to come with her, but she insisted she needed some alone time, assuring them she could handle herself if something were to happen, much to their reluctant agreement.
However, as Gwain walked around the city, even she was unsure if she truly meant what she said. If another event were to occur, could she handle it? And what of her people? Would she be able to save every single one of them? What if another human were to show up? She could barely fend off the last one, and if a whole group of them were to appear...Each passerby only fills her with more and more anxiety, considering each one another life in her hands.
She does her best to keep up appearances, forcing a smile as she waves at every citizen that greets her. She's so distracted by this, that she ends up bumping into a blindfolded man with white hair, you.
Gwain nervously sweats as she bows before you with a hand over her chest.
"M-My apologies."
Despite having bumped into the queen of the kingdom you currently reside in, you appear a lot more composed than she is.
"There's no need for that. It was my fault for bumping into a beautiful young woman like yourself."
Her fearful face turns into one of confusion...
"You mean you can see through that blindfold?"
"No, but I could imagine your youthful beauty purely from your voice alone."
...which becomes a smirk...
"I'll have you know I'm over one hundred years old. Would you still call that a 'youthful beauty'?"
"Well, I did always have a thing for older women."
...which finally falls into a frown.
"You must have some nerve, talking to a queen like that."
"Ah, so you're the bratty, spoiled type. You do seem a little old for that, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't find that attractive as well."
A strange feeling arises within Gwain at your last comment. Rather than reprimand you in front of the entire city or pummel you where you stand for your insolent behaviour...she blushes. Not once has she felt like this in her entire life until now, and she only considers herself lucky that you can't see it.
"Insolent brat, I guess you'll have to spend the day with me until you learn some manners."
"My, such cruelty, wouldn't capital punishment be more mercifu-"
She pulls you along by the hand before you can get out another wisecrack.
"You should consider it an honour."
You and Gwain spend the day around her kingdom, and with each passing hour, she finds herself falling for you more and more. Even despite your "witty remarks", she can tell your heart is as golden as her hair. From the way you always seem to smile at others even when they bump into you, to how you let the person behind you cut ahead in line...she only wishes you could extend that same kindness to her.
"Don't you think you should consult me before letting other people cut in front of you? I am the one paying for this ice cream."
"Don't you think you should have some more respect for your subjects? You are the queen."
Gwain resists the urge to punch you as she takes the ice creams from the vendor, one three scoop chocolate ice cream with sprinkles, and one single scoop vanilla.
"You're really planning to eat both of those? And here I took you for the type to watch your figure."
Gwain almost crushes her ice cream with how hard her grip tightens at your comment as she reluctantly hands the vanilla ice cream over to you.
"This one is for you. A thank you for making this a mostly pleasant evening."
"If that's the case, don't you think you could've splashed a little more cash on mine?"
"If that's how you're going to be, I suppose I will eat them both."
"Okay, okay. I'll behave."
She hands the ice cream over to you once more, and you grab it before she can take it back again.
"So, I take it this is where our little excursion comes to a close?"
"For now, but if you wish to do this again sometime...I won't object."
Gwain hands you a strip of paper with a phone number on it.
"Your number already? I must've made quite the impression."
"Don't push your luck. It's the number for my head guard. If you want to get through to me, tell them it's the blind brat from the other day. I won't accept calls from anyone else."
And with that, she takes her leave. Over the next few months, you and Gwain go on many more days out together. From going clothes shopping, to seeing a romantic film together (with you wearing an audio description headset) and, after a few weeks, even eating out tother. All things many people would consider dates when done with just two people, but anytime you tried to tease Gwain about this, she'd flick your cheek and brush them off as mere friendly outings.
After your last "friendly outing", you were about to leave, when Gwain stopped you with a hand on the shoulder.
"Where are you going?"
"...Home?"
"I'm afraid there's one last stop to make before you can do that."
You want to object, but with everything you've learned about her, you doubt she'd let you.
"Alright, lead the way."
Gwain takes you by the hand once more, much more gently this time, and leads youall the way to her castle and into the throne room. While she wouldn't do this for most people, she believes you've proven yourself enough to earn her trust, and with your lack of sight and magic, she could easily destroy you if you were to try anything.
"Such a large throne, I suppose its size matches your ego?"
Your comment makes Gwain give you a suspicious look.
"YI thought you couldn't see through your blindfold..."
"No, but I can sense it using my magic."
"...But your hair is white."
"It's a...special kind of magic, one that allows me to sense my surroundings. It just so happens that its colour matches that of someone without magic. Besides, even without magic, I could probably tell the size just from the large ego it's giving out."
She decides to ignore your last comment.
"I see, I'm glad there's at least something interesting about the person I've fallen for."
You give Gwain a teasing smile.
"My, my, has the mighty queen fallen for a mere commoner?"
"As much as it pains me to say it, you are correct. I'm not sure if I've gone mad, or it's because of how..."
"Dashing? Charming? Funny?"
"...genuine you are, but I wish for you to remain by my side, as my...royal consort."
"You mean your husband?"
"...If that's how you want to put it. I'm sure Ami would love to have a father figure, just as I wouldn't hate the company."
"Well, since you asked so nicely, I suppose I have no choice."
"Good. I'll have my guards bring your possessions here first thing tomorrow. For tonight, you may sleep with me."
"You're quite promiscuous for a queen, aren't you?"
"Keep talking, and you'll be sleeping on the couch on your first night here."
From that day on, Gwain found her mood improving significantly. The eerie silence of the castle that put her on edge was replaced with the comforting sound of your voice. Whether it be from talking with her, or playing with your daughter Ami, or even making friendly chatter with the guards, you never seemed to cease speaking. And yet, deep down, she wished you never would.
Over the years, your relationship with Gwain only grew, you watched Ami go from a child to a young adult, and helped her hone her skills in archery and in magic. You even started appearing in public alongside the two as the official Mr Heddeviand, and the public seemed to love you almost as much as your wife and daughter did. You joined Gwain in interviews, unveilings or just simple walks around the city, always hand in hand, as the citizens cheered you on. For a while, she thought this happiness woud never end.
It was a normal day, the sun was shining, the flowers were swaying in the breeze, it was the kind of day where you'd think nothing could go wrong, That is, until you asked your wife a question, one you believed would be completely harmless.
"My queen, why is it you hate humans so much?"
Gwain's whole body stiffens, as if just the mere mention of the species is enough to trigger her fight-or-flight reflex, a forewarning that whatever her answer may be, it wouldn't be good.
"I allowed one human into this land before, and that one human alone was enough to shake this kingdom to its very core. The damage they did, both to my land and to my trust, is irreparable, not by them, and not by their kind. That kind of personal betrayal is why I hate them, and I'll sooner die than let another one enter this land."
She looks over at you, expecting some sort of joke or crack, yet to her confusion, you're completely serious, your hand on the back of your blindfold.
"I see...so that means you'll never be able to forgive them?"
"Never."
"Not even...if you were married to one?"
"What are you-"
Before she can finish, you pull your blindfold off, revealing yourself to have the pitch black eyes of a human. She wants to do something, to knock you unconscious before you can attack, to call for the guards for support, to yell at you for lying to your people, to your daughter, to her for all these years. Yet, she can't do anything but sit there, frozen in shock.
"Tell me, does this really change anything? Human or not, am I not still your husband? The one who helped you feel like an actual person?"
"...Your magic?"
You look at your blindfold before dropping it to the ground.
"I never had any. I could see through my blindfold the whole time. It just looks opaque from the outside."
You finish speaking, waiting for a response from your wife, yet not a sound leaves her mouth. You look over at her, she's completely quiet.
"Please, say something."
But she doesn't. For the first time in over a decade, the castle's halls fall silent once more.
A few seconds pass, thousands of thoughts race through Gwain's mind. Then, she stands up, and holds out the palm of her hand towards you. An energy beam starts charging in her hand as she prepares to execute you right then and there before you can even think of retaliating. And yet, as she gazes into your eyes, memories flash through her mind. Memories of how you made her feel, how you were there for her when no one else was, and despite telling herself she couldn't afford to let you live, she couldn't bring herself to kill you either.
She cancels the energy beam and grabs you by the arm, much more tightly than usual. She leads you down to the castle dungeons, throwing you into an empty cell, locking the door and turning away before you can make her fall for your liess again.
"My queen?"
"I'm not your queen. You should consider yourself lucky you're still alive. I'll come down to visit you again in a few days, and you should be grateful I'm giving you that."
Before you can get out another word, before she can give in to her doubts and take you back, she's already gone. Gwain returns to her throne, left with nothing but her own thoughts.
True to her word, Gwain came down to visit you every few days, yet she couldn't bring herself to look you in the eyes a single time. She couldn't bare to see how much you missed her, or for you to see how much she missed you. Perhaps she knew your secret the entire time, you were hardly the best liar, after all. Or perhaps...she was the one who was truly blind all along, blinded by the love and affection she held for you.
A month passes, and Ami returns home from college, eager to see her mother and father again. When she sees her mother alone, she rushes forward, worried about what happened to you.
"Mmm mmm!"
Ami waves her arms around frantically, and Gwain lets out a sigh.
"That man is gone, Ami. He's never coming back."
Ami tilts her head in confusion.
"I say "that man" because he's not your father. He's a human."
Despite expecting this to be a big revelation for her, Gwain sees that Ami is unfazed by the news.
"...What do you mean you knew?"
"Hmm hmm!"
"He told you? Why didn't you say anything?! Why wouldn't he tell me sooner?!"
Ami puffs her cheeks at and crosses her arms at her mother.
"...The fact that I threw him in the dungeon as soon as he told me is irrelevant."
Ami stomps her foot and points towards the dungeon, making her mother groan.
"Fine, I'll go get him, just stop giving me that look."
Gwain walks down the stairs to the dungeon, thinking about what she's going to say to you the entire way there. The moment she sees you, and the two of you lock eyes, every thought leaves her at once. She puts the key in the lock, hesitating for a few seconds, before finally setting you free.
You take a few steps forwards until you're stood directly in front of her. She looks up at you, doing her best to maintain her stoic facade.
"So...I trust you'e learned your lesson by now?"
You remain silent, causing a small amount of anxiety to build within her.
"Well? Say something, human."
You wrap your arms around her.
"I love you."
Gwain blushes, the exact same blush you gave her when you first met, but this time, she doesn't care that you can see her. She hugs you back, bresting her head on your shoulder.
"...I love you, too."
After a few months, the time had come for yours and Gwain's anniversary. She places a blindfold over your eyes that you actually can't see out of and leads you down to the throne room. At her signal, you take off the blindfold to find a newly place, and slightly smaller, throne next to your wife's.
"What do you think?"
"...I think the size of your throne really does match your ego."
"Hmm, how would you like another trip to the dungeon for your present instead?"
"Alright, I'm sorry. It's wonderful, my queen."
"Good. I think you've earned your second present, then."
"Oh my, a second gift? And I didn't even get you anything."
Gwain groans and tosses a visor into your hands. You look at it for a few seconds, then put it over your eyes. You're greeted with a full HUD display, showing the current time, weather and temperature.
"You can use this to hide your human eyes without having to wear that dirty thing around anymore. It's probably filthy by now, anyway."
She looks over at you, slightly surprised you haven't made some sort of joke like "that's not a nice way to talk about yourself". Instead, you pull her into a hug. She's stunned for a few seconds, then she hugs you back, a small smile on her face.
It wasn't easy for her to get the visor for you. She had to make another deal with Luna, making her owe Luna another favour. Which, knowing her, she'd most likely use to her advantage. Still, for you, it was worth it. For now, though, she didn't want to think about that. All she wanted to think about was spending the rest of her life with her new husband. And perhaps, at some point, she might even come to trust humans as a whole again.
This would be put to the test just a few years later, when another human landed in Teora in the form of Geo. And, while she did still hate his guts, Gwain at least didn't try to kill him on sight, which was...probably progress.
Ami and Gwain get into a fight as Geo awkwardly watches from the side. Ami stomps her foot and pouts at her mother.
"For the last time , Ami, I won't let you date a human!"
"Mmm mmm!"
"Because your father is one of the good ones!"
As Geo stands there, wondering if he should join the argument or leave while Gwain is distracted, you give him a pat on the shoulder.
"...Welcome to the family."
Perhaps, if even Gwain can get over her hatred of mankind enough to not wish for their total destruction, then perhaps all of Teora can do the same...in the next decade or so.
what I feel would be a really interesting plot point in 17776 is someone who has killed before April 7, 2026
it doesn't matter if it was an accident or cold-blooded, but someone has died before they could be in the perfect world. They denied a utopia to someone
how do they cope? do they make peace, apologize every day, imagine that there is a heaven for them?
or are they gone forever?

pro-israel propaganda
my biggest fantasy is that if I provide facts and evidence someone will change their mind
"Noo, I don't have an opinion on what's going on in Palestine."
"I don't like politics so I'm neutral about all of that stuff."
"Don't send me things about the politics of Gaza or Palestine or anything like that, it just makes me really anxious and-"
Those are some real things I've seen people say before. You don't have an opinion on the literal genocide going on in Gaza and Palestine? The lives being taken? The atrocities Israel has done? You're refusing to educate yourself on all of this because it makes you anxious? (Boo hoo) That's disgusting to me. You can't be "neutral" about a literal war??
You're either with Palestine or not. I'm loud and proud about supporting Palestine, and if any of my mutuals, followers, friends or family who don't feel the same, please get away from me and this blog.
