Kwe! It's officially ✨Pride Month!✨ Happy Pride to all my friends and enemies alike <3
Just as a reminder (or announcement to those unaware) I am a Two-Spirit Saulteaux-Mi'kmaq person!
My pronouns are she/he/they. You'll usually see me refer to myself as a woman, but this is simply because it's my assigned gender at birth and not because I exclusively identify as a woman (so please don't be worried about using the wrong pronouns on me, I am, as they call me, Miss Gender /j)
But I figured in addition to this ceremonial outing, I wanted to provide some fun facts on the Two-Spirit identity, as there are still many people out there who don't understand the term beyond just being a queer label (it's a lot more complex than just being an Indigenous word for 'trans'!) and oftentimes, the 2S (for Two-Spirit) is noticeably missing from the LGBTQIA+ line-up (though this isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I'll explain more about why below!)
Text version:
Two Spirit (Anishinaabe definition: niizh manidoowag)
To put it simply: a term used to describe Indigenous peoples with both masculine and feminine spirits.
Coined in 1990 by Myra Laramee (Cree Nation), the term was designed as a unifying term for Indigenous peoples to reclaim roles, identities, and teachings that were disrupted by colonization.
Contrary to non-Native belief, Two-Spirit is not simply an Indigenous word for "trans" or "non-binary". Rather, it's often used as an umbrella term for many gender and sexual identities. Most importantly, what distinguishes Two-Spirit as its own unique term is how it uniquely describes the Indigenous experience as it pertains to queerness, separate from that of non-Native peoples.
To inherit the label of Two-Spirit is not just to identify one's own queerness, but also to inherit the roles and responsibilities passed down through individual tribal traditions. It is a term of reclamation and resistance.
Whether an Indigenous person chooses to use Two-Spirit exclusively or in addition to colonial terms within the LGBTQIA2S+ umbrella is their choice. There are even Indigenous peoples who identify solely with colonial labels such as non-binary, trans, and gender fluid, but do not identify as Two-Spirit.
Regardless of how an Indigenous person chooses to use Two-Spirit, it was a word made for Indigenous peoples, by Indigenous peoples - the term is and always will be theirs to choose.
------
Of course, there's a lot more to the Two-Spirit identity than I can summarize in a single image, and what the Two-Spirit identity means will vary to different people and tribes. Some people do purely use the term to describe their trans identity or their sexuality; others use it to uphold the traditions of their tribe, especially as they pertain to the roles and responsibilities of members of the tribe, and how gender often influenced those roles and governed those responsibilities.
As an example, in many tribes (see: not all) women were often considered the healers and caretakers of their tribe, while men were considered the protectors and hunters. Within that particular framework, someone who is Two-Spirit would often be embraced as an asset to their communities, as they could fulfill the duties and roles of both men and women, being both caretakers and creators and also protectors and fighters.
But not all Indigenous peoples or tribes define Two-Spirit in that way. Many exclusively use it as a sexuality / gender label, the same way one would use "gay" "bisexual" or "non-binary"; some even doing so as resistance of their own against established gender norms, even as they existed within their own tribes.
What's important is to acknowledge, identify, and respect the term as an Indigenous word. It is not for non-Natives to use for themselves. It is our word, one that we cherish as a sacred thread connecting all Indigenous peoples who've lived through the shared experience of being raised and oppressed under colonialism. While all queer people regardless of race are constantly under threat, it's absolutely vital to recognize and understand how cultural context plays a contributing role in queer oppression, and how the suffering of Indigenous queer people naturally varies from your own.
And so this is why, as I mentioned above, it's not necessarily a bad thing when 2S is excluded from the LGBTQIA+ umbrella - because Two-Spirit encompasses all of that umbrella, but exclusively for that of Indigenous peoples. Same, but different.
At least, that's how I try to rationalize it for myself, but in reality, it's hard to deny that seeing 2S excluded from the umbrella can feel exclusionary, ignorant, and neglectful - but that's all the more reason why I personally choose to take power in its exclusion, because in my view, its exclusion from colonial terminology gives it strength and importance. As for the road to inclusion, we've made some progress - such as having our own flag and symbols - but we've still got a long ways to go.
With all that said, please respect this post as education, not as an invitation. Non-Natives have their words to describe their relationship to sexuality and gender; Two-Spirit is ours, and ours alone.
I hope this was informative for you all, Native and non-Native alike ! Kesalul <3
Being critical of your interests is sooooo fun when you have the critic gene & then you sound kind of insane to the average tv watcher when you're like "this is my favorite show, It's Racist" & then you try to clarify what you mean & get that [Speech (legendary) - FAILURE] "the racism is really interesting though"
[Speech (legendary) - SUCCESS] I find the sociopolitical context of pulpy old sci-fi born circa the civil rights movement really fascinating to analyze especially when it was progressive for its time but still reveals the writers' unexamined biases in the subtext
Them: So you're saying its bad and I shouldn't watch it?
Me: I mean depends on your tolerance for this type of racism, but like I said it's my favourite show, it def has some great parts if you're up for it.
Them: Oh so it's not racist.
Me: It absolutely is.
Them: So you're saying racism is ok??
Me: No.

Hey guys, in light of a recent post I saw I want to make it clear that abortion IS the choice of the mother or whoever is the one carrying the baby to term.
JUST TO BE CLEAR IF YOU FIND THE POST I’M TALKING ABOUT, DO NOT HARASS THE POSTER! I DON’T KNOW HOW OLD THEY ARE OR WHAT THEY’RE GOING THROUGH. I just want to make it clear that there’s a lot of reasons why someone will get an abortion other than just not wanting to raise someone, which is also a completely valid reason.
and to be completely honest I do actually agree with some of the points they said about teens' autonomy being belittled and them being pushed away in public spaces.
Albeit I don’t know why they’d go to a subreddit about people hating/not wanting kids, and turn around and be like, “look, look how much they hate and/or don’t want kids!”
(Also speaking as someone who frequents Reddit, if you get into any subreddit whose topic is about a lifestyle, it’s going to be a toxic and/or boring echo chamber for the most part.)
ANYWAY, back to the topic at hand, people (women and others) have abortions for a multitude of reasons:
- financial stability, readiness
- Relationship status
- Not wanting to be a parent
- Medical risks (severe preeclampsia, placental abruption, cancer treatment, ectopic pregnancy)
- Fetal abnormalities
- Being a victim of SA and not wanting to bring it to term.
I feel like it’s important to bring this up because many people are losing their right to reproductive health and autonomy and in some places have never had that privilege. (To be clear I don’t think it should be a privilege, I think everyone should have the right to use these services (abortion and other stuff Planned Parenthood could provide) if needed).
I don’t know why this needs to be brought up because I feel like even in Neal’s writing he makes it clear that all of this is happening because abortion is outlawed, the mother has to stork the baby because she has no way of caring for it, and she wasn’t given the option to terminate it before it came to term. It makes it clear that this is a societal issue with mob mentality that’s just causing parents to dump their children left and right. There’s also some horrific capitalist organ industry going on, but that’s a story for another day.
TO MAKE IT CLEAR and to go along with the way their point was written:
“And how well, abortion is so much more than the mom's choice. How would the child feel, knowing they were unwanted how? How?”
Unless you are physically unable to consent or there are other factors at play, NO ONE should have the right over your body or any other woman’s or afab’s body for that matter. Not your hypothetical children WHO ARE NOT CONSIDERED ALIVE NOR BABIES UNTIL THEY COME OUT OF YOU FFS. Not your partner. Nor some random ass person who they thinks know your body better than you do. This book’s major theme is about having autonomy how did we get here.?
Also other than Mai, Risa, and Dierdre (stork baby) it’s shown that a lot of the kids in the first book were loved at some point and were abandoned by BOTH parents, pining it all on the mother is just rude.

Theory on why Tofu hates Markiplier
If you are unfamiliar with Tofu, please read this post or watch this playlist about the snake who hates Markiplier. tl;dr- under the Markiplier gif.
From the videos you can see she tries to figure out what is upsetting Tofu, and found that it's not just streamers, or just his voice, or the stream. This specific snake
He does not like Markiplier specifically which is demonstrated by him squaring up with Mark, striking, and tail buzzing at him. He recognizes Mark specifically as a scary threat.
Animals have been shown to recognize human faces, and Tofu's reaction to Markiplier's face (and only his face as shown by the printout) is strong evidence that he recognizes Mark's face and differentiates him from other faces. With crows, they've been shown to hold grudges and have that grudge extend to other crows.
So Tofu has a negative association with Mark, and specifically Mark. The question is why? My theory is: perceived threat after a perceived dangerous situation. Some have theorized Tofu was mistreated by someone who looked like Mark- if they were while in his keeper's care she'd know. If it was his breeder, he'd more likely be afraid of all humans and need to first get over this negative perception (basing this on how Sakura reacted with massive trauma that took years for her to overcome, and to this day she's still jumpy. A breeder doesn't socialize their snakes so they'd only know humans to be abusive before being adopted, and his current keeper would very much notice that terrified trauma behavior to herself.)
One thing important to know about snakes is they are not only capable of learning from each other, but are protective of each other. I've seen this with my girls interacting with each other (yes snakes have friends and remember their family), learning from watching the other and copying her actions, as well as behavior I've observed on the Rattlecam with wild snakes. Adult snakes teach younger snakes, as well as are protective of them- even if they aren't their own babies. A female was shown on the rattlecam watching over a group of slitherlings that were obviously not her offspring as she was heavily pregnant. IIRC that same female ushered babies to safety after a hawk attack before worrying about her own safety. I've seen it in person as well with my girls, who have shielded each other from perceived danger, and scoria also squared up to something scary in the hall as though she were protecting me. And when it left she immediately went back to being relaxed and cuddly and happy. Snakes have friends that are snakes. It's an outdated belief snakes cannot bond with their keepers, as many do and seek them out for attention. These observations of snake behavior are part of what play into my theory basis.
So what could Mark himself have done? If you watch streamers you'll know Markiplier is known for playing jumpscare games with his FNAF let's plays being some of his most well known. Tofu's owner knows Markiplier, and is actively watching Markiplier with Tofu. More than likely she regularly watches Mark, has watched jumpscare videos, and had Tofu around while doing this.
It's a reasonable assumption. And if Tofu's keeper reacts to Mark's jump scare videos by flinching, looking frightened, or making frightened sounds, it's quite likely Tofu's sees Markiplier is involved every time... and blames Mark. Seeing his keeper get startled, Tofu doesn't understand it's a fun video or that humans enjoy being jumpscared (honestly I don't think I could explain it to him either) so he's learning from his human that Markiplier is a scary threat.
And from Tofu's point of view? He's right! Markiplier is a regular threat that not only (probably) scared his human, but regularly appears to stare him down and even went after him in his own home! And when his keeper scolds him? It's likely the same misunderstanding that dogs have when their owners yell at them to be quiet- they think the human has joined in! Clearly his keeper is joining him in being upset at Mark!
So in Tofu's mind? Mark is a diabolical threat to his family's safety that he must defend them against, and they are united with their keeper in their efforts to drive away that scary scary guy. You are very brave Tofu, and we are all very proud of you.
to put it bluntly it has to do with the fact that the person who owns Tofu deliberately harasses her snake, provoking a defensive striking response to grift off of her snake's discomfort. she takes their distressed reactions and creates narratives around them, deliberately playing off most people's lack of knowledge of animal behavior for the stories to work.
If you actually look into any of her content where her snake is supposedly relaxed, it is not. There are clear signs of unease on Tofu because she's notoriously not a good animal caretaker who stresses out her animals for clout. this not even getting into the fact that Tofu is likely a name she's used on multiple white snakes given how badly cared for her animals are. just stop giving this animal neglector and abuser attention.
i am just learning that people hate connor and just why???
i personally don’t actually hate him. he’s one of the most valiant people in the book. however, i don’t like that:
- he thought saving the storks was too dangerous
- he didn’t do anything to help risa when roland was forcing himself onto her (i know it was planned out or something, but i think it’s still messed up that connor didnt do anything. idk.)
- his chapters were boring to me, aside from any in unwind or undivided
I agree with all these of, but I’ll also add this, I don’t like Connor by proxy of the way Neal writes the men who are somewhat in competition to Connor.
- Roland goes from just being your generic bossy man seen in fiction, to being rapey. It also doesn’t help that in the scene mentioned, after Roland leaves, Connor does not try to at least comfort Risa.
- Starkey… technically is already a bit psychotic, I’ll give Neal that, it didn’t feel out of nowhere.
- As for Cam, there’s really only the scene where he’s suddenly ableist to Grace that I can point to, it’s been a while since I’ve read these books.
What I mean to say is that a lot of times Neal’s writing feels like.., “Hey guys, Connor might have touched Risa without her permission (her hair, but you probably wouldn’t want a guy you just met touching even that), might have thrusted the responsibility of a baby on her, might have made a joke about wanting to see her boobs, might have been pretty insensitive in ch. 24, BUT AT LEAST HE DIDN’T SA HER, AT LEAST HE’S NOT ABLEIST, AT LEAST HE DIDN’T START A DOOMSDAY CULT OF TERRORISTS AND IMPREGNATE 3 GIRLS.”
A lot of me just wishes Neal would own the fact that Connor is a shitty person and have him actually face the consequences for it. I don’t mean more story beats, but maybe like, people don’t really trust him, maybe he doesn’t get the girl… idk.
A lot of pop psychology gets thrown around and since I already have a headache, here's preventing you lot from making it worse.
Love-bombing: A manipulation tactic of increasing affection and grand gestures before or after doing something abusive, specifically to weasel one's way out of consequences.
What it is not: A streak of affection and generosity towards friends/loved ones.
Trauma-bonding: Knowingly traumatizing someone to take advantage of their vulnerable state, to then act like the "hero" or the one who cheers them up.
What it is not: Bonding over similar traumas.
Gaslighting: *Knowingly* convincing someone they cannot trust their own perception of a situation in pursuit of one's own narrative.
What it is not: Misaligned perception of events.
Narcissist: Someone afflicted with Narcissistic Personality Disorder, a traumagenic cluster B disorder, that struggles with self-obsession, paranoia, craving validity from the public, delusions of grandeur, and social disconnection.
It is not: Your rubbish ex that cheated on you.

When I was in my teens, I used to make an entire magic system with 900 unique spells, ordered in magic schools and categories, and it boggles my mind that I basically reinvented DnD mechanics, even down to metamagic.
I wanted to make a wiki about it but I don't have time for it.
The point was to try to encompass every "superpower" I could think of into a magic system.
I even got lore related to it all, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna simply reuse it all for OC worldbuilding. Ngl the fun part was naming all the spells, symbols and coming up with the logic of it all. Edit : Due to popular demand, I'm making the wiki now yay. There's even more sigils done now >:]
After almost a year of brainstorming, coding, designing, writing and drawing, I am proud to announce that the magical system wiki I was working on is finally ready to open to the public !
You can check it out here !
World Anvil is a worldbuilding community and collection of tools for authors, role playing games storytellers and worldbuilding
The writing part is done, and I've done enough spells to provide an example for each element. The goal is to fill up that huge array eventually! >:]
