I do and I don’t like this piece..

I like the rusted texture, however it’s not seamless and that’s very irritating.

Again similar to the previous rusted closed barrel, the structure of the barrel doesn’t quite match to the texture.

So I would adjust the texture and mix up the structure a bit for this model. :)

Textured Open Barrel #1

I really like this piece. I’m pretty sure I used a Blinn for a Hypershade in order to get this nice shiny look. 

I actually textured this model using a deep purple, but I was able to tweak the effects on Sketchfab to kind of make a bronze-like colour.

This piece is meant to be low poly, but then again I would like to go in and tweak the rounded edges so they actually look round - rather than kind of spikey.

Textured Closed Barrel #2

Really not happy with this piece. I wanted to go for a rusted & beaten up looking barrel. The texture is okay? But it doesn’t really match the actual structure of the barrel. 

Another part of the texturing is the fact the top is completely white (and the bottom completely grey). This does not match the whole ‘rusted’ look at all. 

The lid is messed up again - with the same as the last closed barrel.

I will admit, I did rush this piece by copying the last barrel and just applying a different texture.

If I had planned out & effectively used my timing it would have been a better piece that I would be proud of.

All in all, this is definitely a complete re-work.

Textured Closed Barrel #1

I have actually textured this barrel with a deep blue - however mixed with the Hypershader and the shiny/gloss effect used on Sketchfab - it looks like it’s not really textured! (IMO anyway)

I don’t know how but I managed to mess up the lid, and complete it without realizing until after I had uploaded it,, so that definitely needs to be fixed!

Textured Open Crate #2

I’m happy with the model, and the wooden texture, however I’m not quite sure what happened with the actual wrapping of the texture..

It’s cool how it’s made these bulky bold white lines within the indents of the crate where the two ‘wood panels’ meet, but it wasn’t intended.

I’ll have to look into the UV's, and check that everything is within the snapshot, and check the actual UV mapping itself. 

I can annoyingly see the edge lines on my crate - so I think I definitely haven’t covered them properly with the wooden texture. But that’s fairly simple to fix by firstly pinching in the UV’s into the snapshot, and if not going back to the original PSD.

I liked the gloss effect that Sketchfab provides actually, but I can try play with different Hypershaders on Maya to find one similar to give this effect :)

Textured Open Crate #1

I love this red metal texture, however I’m not quite sure the edges really match to the metal texture. 

An improvement to it would be adding a spec/bump map - just to exaggerate the texture that bit more. :)

Textured Closed Crate #2

I’m happy with the crate model itself, but I’m not happy with the texture. I attempted at creating an army green burnt/rusted/dented metal ammo box in mind, but  my vision clearly wasn’t portrayed through this texture.

It may well be worth looking into painting texture tutorials online / in books!
