I did something stupid. Again.
It’s not even that big a deal, but I can’t get it out of head - like its on a permanent airport conveyor belt of luggage.
So, here goes.
I was waiting outside my class, standing on my own (of course), when I spotted a girl I know and who is the flatmate of my Lord of the Rings friend.
Being woefully inept in the social department, any friendship is a huge celebratory event.
Therefore, when I saw her, a smile flashed quickly up to my face, I said the customary “Hey” that social protocol dictates and flung up a brief wave in greeting, but forgot, in my haste to be noticed by my coursemate, that I still had my phone in hand.
I’m sure you can see where this is going - the phone flew out of my hand backwards, travelling a considerable 5 steps behind me, and narrowly avoiding the poor, unsuspecting girl standing a bit behind me.
I was mortified, and I think so was my friend, because she didn’t really say anything other than an awkward semi-smile at my blunder, before returning to talk to the cooler people in the room.
Sadly, it’s not the first time I’ve had a phone-mishap when getting excited to talk to someone I know.
I really should work on that...
