The thing i hate the most about the panel i think is that misako bashing actually has been getting low , like its still there but its way less than before and i fear that her introduction in dr is gonna make things way way worst

It is about to be such an annoying time in the fandom and I’m not even joking. Between the leaks and this it’s just… oh my god.

I don’t care if this wasn’t in the mainline show and MAYBE if Misako does come back she’ll be done justice. But this is just like- why? Why characterize their relationship like this? Why suddenly add this strain that hasn’t existed in the show for FOURTEEN YEARS?? There were about a million other ways to make this same joke and not have it come across in the way that it did while still having the punchline be “yeah Lloyd’s life has been ROUGH”. Sora’s “Told ya” especially gives me the ick because it feels like a comparison between Misako and, this is something I cannot emphasize enough…

Prefacing this post with I have NOT seen the leaks, I DO NOT WANT TO SEE THE LEAKS, and have ABSOLUTELY ZERO INTENTION OF WATCHING THE LEAKS. So, if S4 P2 has something that quells my worries, DO NOT TELL ME I SWEAR TO GOD-

Anyway. I’ve seen the clip from SDCC where the VAs read out some canon (but off screen so it’s NOT in the main show) dialogue and it’s got me a little worried over how, if Misako returns, how she’s going to be portrayed. There’s a “joke” by Kai along the lines of “And he’s totally over her leaving him at an evil boarding school while she went on her expeditions!” in response to Sora saying Lloyd might have good reason to not talk to his mom.

It’s probably not a shock I don’t like this line for a variety of reasons. I get it to an extent, Misako is a bit of a niche(ish) character in the DR era of things, and not all viewers know or remember what her story was, but the way the line was delivered, especially with Arin and Sora’s “She did what?” and “Told ya.” after… makes me worry we have a situation where the fandom’s constant mischaracterization of Misako and Lloyd’s relationship is bleeding into the show. I really REALLY hope this isn’t the case because, again this is dialogue written exclusively for SDCC so maybe it’s not reflective of how any potential reappearances of Misako will be written.

But I’m worried. Dragons Rising has been doing REALLY well doing the female cast of this show justice so if they break that streak with Misako I’m gonna be mad.
