So, I was watching Chapter 1 again, and I finally, FINALLY saw one thing that has answered one of my many questions and predictions about Pennywise.
It’s about as to how in the world his costume did get all dirty and ruined after this rather very short fight with the Losers. With Pennywise not even moving , or being beaten in a way that would have caused such damage to it??
I didn’t know why I was asking myself such a thing, due to the obviousness of clothes getting dirty being in the sewers in general, especially if you are laying/sitting on the floor. YET I FINALLY SAW IT .
Let me tell you what I have in mind.
The scene which had finally shown me what I wanted to see is the one where Beverly rammed the steel pole into Pennywises throat after he had turned into her father.
Now, take a good and close look at him. Pennywise surely looks shocked and now definitely is injured. Beverly’s attack on him has obviously caused him more pain and damage than the other Kid’s did. That’s what I believe.
Also look at his costume, it looks fine! Absolutely clean and undamaged even after the previous rumblings that happened.
And then, as the scene continued I noticed something,
As Pennywise started to turn back to his clown form, I spotted some weird stains appear on his ruffles.
I remembered then, that Pennywise had to pay something for being able to turn into everything he wants to. That Payment is sharing and taking over the weaknesess of the beings he turns into.
So due to the human anatomy of his clown body, Pennywise was not able to breathe with the steel pole blocking his windpipe. That’s why he was gasping so hard after spitting it out. He could have suffocated. He WAS suffocating. His shocked expression afterwards when he looked at the children , was the prove that he had finally realized that these Children were able to kill him. And, they ALMOST succeeded.
But that’s not the only thing I found out.
After the camera switched to the kids, and then back to Pennywise I was shocked. His costume now has turned absolutely dirty, tattered and ruined in general just after a few seconds.
It clicked in my head then.
His costume also changes with his health status.
I know I know, his costume didn’t look as bad as when Beverly first impaled him in the Neibolt house, but there was one difference.
Back then the Losers were scared, which gave Pennywise a bit more power and strenght.
But now the Group wasn’t scared, thus meaning Pennywise wouldn’t get any extra strenght and health. That’s the reason why he all of a sudden looks so beaten.
I haven’t found out why his red stripes start running upwards though.
