Karma
At the absolute base, karma states that a good action causes a good effect, and that a bad action causes a bad effect. Depending on one’s views karma may be ensured by divine intervention or just the operation of nature. I lean toward the latter. Karma seems to work at least partially through a chaotic system. It is similar to the way the weather works. The main point here is that the transfer of good is sensitive to initial conditions i.e. the butterfly effect. A good effect tends to cause a good action. The same way a bad effect tends to cause a bad action. Think of how you act when you feel good. Do you smile? Do you try to be more understanding of others. Smiling is a good example. people tend to copy the motions of others. When one smiles it often causes others to smile. These chains of cause and effect will last forever. Meaning that the actions you have now will affect beyond your lifetime. The more interactions someone with another, the more each will be affected by each other. One can also indirectly affect a person by affecting someone that that person interacted with. Often karma is associated with free will. While one does make one’s own decisions, those decisions are strongly influenced by other’s actions. Because we do not all interact with everyone, this leads to places where there is more good than other places. Consequently, your actions and destiny are affected by where you are born.
