greetings ! I'm jem, also known as mari — a digital and claywork artist who almost never finishes a project, let alone posts it. im nineteen and primarily use he/they pronouns, and im mostly here to post my various thoughts and ramblings. not all of which are coherent, frankly.

a quick note . . .

✡ i am visually impaired — i have some working vision, but i am in fact blind. my posts might often have typos i didn't spot to correct (most commonly, periods between words "like.this"). i may also need image descriptions from time to time.

✡ my typing nd speech patterns be about as consistent as quantum mechanics. ive given up tryna stop it, man, we just gonna pretend is the social norm. jus ignore it.

I don't know if. This is how anything works. And I am headed for insanity with this. As Deltarune fans do. But. If Kris left us in the cage. As a darkworld formed. Didn't put us back in. one of my favourite implications in deltarune is that like, one of the lightners (probably kris cause yadayada symbolism, nd ramb quoting "chaos, chaos") was like, really attached to the joker card. cause like. seam tells us a darkners power is kinda influenced by how much the lightnersu pour into them, right? like, love, hope, etc. we see it with the neo body, king nd queen both being stuff kris nd dess/noelle played with as kids. nd it adds to the evidence seam themself can kick our ass, plus id argue it adds to gerson too, maybe, i dunno. so i jus love the concept of tiny baby kris holding the joker card like, "it just like me :>>>", but like. also sad, cause a lotta times the joker don't fit.in with the rest the pack. i dunno, man.

Is there. Anything in Deltarune. That would.suggest Heaven and Hell can't be synonymous. Because. Looking at the themes of both.There's a lot if overlap. Granted Hell is only directly mentioned I think. Twice? Overall.

I know there's. The two.prophecy panels"Hear the ring of Heaven's call" 9/ "See the tail of Hell take crawl". Which is. Referring to each. Obviously intended to be read under the assumption they're different. But.

papyrus really confronts a serial killer, fully prepared to stop them by force if necessarry, and starts his speech that's meant to convince them to turn around with "ok so first of all you're just fucking weird"

I love Scott Smajor because a few years ago he played a really awesome guy with ice powers and then an evil intimidating white-haired vampire and then a sweet blonde light mage. then he did some other stuff. and the in the past year he's played an evil intimidating white-haired vampire and then a sweet blonde light mage and then a really awesome guy with ice powers. and these characters are ALL so incredibly distinct and interesting... what a guy

Genuinely one of the most mindblowingly joyous ideas for Bloodmoon my friend presented to me once was that, in the early videos, sometimes the vas would mess up the facial expression toggles and suddenly cycle thru hella expressions before finding the right one. And I've always just ignored it, u know? Typical vr slip-up. But my friend interpreted as an action Bloodmoon Actually Did and that they actually have trouble with remembering what facial expressions read as what emotions and so when they cycle through a bunch of expressions, that's literally them in-universe trying to find the right face. and that's still one of my most favorite things

Susie telling Ralsei "You can't be the only one with an empty room, it's too sad" is so unbelievably fucked up knowing that her room in the light world has nothing but an old poster and a bed with no sheets and not even food to eat, and Kris's half of their bedroom is completely barren except for a cage reminding them of their role in the knight's plan. But Ralsei made rooms for them filled with things they love and Susie promises to do the same for him. Copies are monochrome but they color each other in with care...

Still mourning the loss. Of the VSMP swap AU roleplay I had. It lasted maybe a week. At the end of November. Until I got ghosted. But. Dear god I loved writing human Owen. He was so messed up. This man trusted someone more after they admitted to using him as expendable. Than when they were acting nice toward him. Just. "Yeah. That part checks out. Now I see what you're about." I fucking loved him. And it gave me an excuse to write in a style I.Don't get to use a lot. Might be the proudest I've been.of. Any writing I've done. And I. can't do anything with it now. Bur. Yeah. Highly recommend getting your own swap au Owen.

My therapist, who specializes in adults with ADHD, recently told me that all of her clients need a three day crashout period after a big life change. Finish the semester? Crashout. Change jobs? Crashout. Go on a really cool, really relaxing vacation? Crashout the moment you get home.

It's true of literally all of her clients. She works with a lot of them to put systems in place so that their crashouts are only three days. This includes the high-powered execs who travel regularly for work. It does not matter how successful or high functioning they are - they have ADHD, and a crashout is just part of the process of living with it.

I'm sharing this with all you ADHD friends out there, just in case you (like me) start shaming yourself if your crashout lasts more than one day. It turns out three days is kind of the best case scenario. Be kind to yourselves!

i’m starting to think that all of that truce/double trucies/triple trucies stuff with kris in chapter 2 was meant to foreshadow the fact that they’re working for the knight …

Firm believer that Bloodmoon v1 genuinely cared for Lunar and they had a bond that was glossed over. They were. Unhinged, sure, bloodthirsty for the hell of it, and what did they do? If I remember rightly, they invited Lunar to hunt with them. They talked and existed without murdering each other, they seemed fond of Lunar, even. I’m. Convinced that is the closest Bloodmoon could get to a ‘I care about you.’

And I’m still. Absolutely dismayed that the writers threw that out with ‘New’ Bloodmoon. I would have been. So interested, in watching that inner conflict play out. Warring between old loyalties and their vengeance, their wants and their purpose, hesitating to hurt for once. But I can excuse the show doing that to New Bloodmoon somewhat because of Ruin cherry picking memories to give to them.

What I can’t is the fact we see Lunar grieve the ‘original’ [I specifically recall an episode where he and Solar, or ‘nice eclipse’ as he was back then, react to fanart and they stop the video because he gets upset over Bloodmoon.] and then, when the ‘new’ one comes around, he immediately acts as if he dislikes them?? Just? Right off the bat?

It feels. Like a mild injustice toward them.
