i finally saw the scene with baby yuuji, and i have so much to say (rant) about it
first off:
LOOK AT HIM! HE'S SO CUTE IM CRYING, HIS HAIR IS SO PINK AND THEY HAD HIM OPEN HIS EYES (つ╥﹏╥)つ HE LOOKS SO COMFORTABLE IN HIS DAD'S ARMS
speaking of:
the adoration in his eyes, you can see just how much he loves his baby. yuuji looks so much like him aside from his eye shape. did u guys know im a sucker for loving fathers? no? well u do now
another father:
you can really see the similarities between wasuke and true form sukuna here (in their facial features), i think in the manga it was less apparent with gege's art style. whether it was simply from aging or his illness, wasuke really looks so much more...sturdier? which makes me wonder how old he was when he had jin
finally:
they're so ethereal (when they want to be) it's crazy. they really made it a point to show their scars as being very healed over, which we could already tell in the manga but they drive it home here. also, when i first saw the leaks for the movie a few weeks ago for this scene, someone said that kaori looks similar to junpei's mom and less like her manga appearance, which yeah definitely. and you know, it has me conflicted cause i really liked the more dead eyed look in the manga, but for the angle they went with i think this works really well
ok so about the actual way they animated this:
i love that they actually had all but the first shot come from yuuji's eyes, it really sells it being a memory with the feathery blinking and haziness. which is why i like how kenjaku!kaori looks here, it's baby yuuji seeing his mother as that; his mother. it's honestly creepy in it's own way, this very innocent view of the world clashing with what the audience picks up on with the scars (even more so if you already know for sure it's kenjaku and what happened there).
it's kind of sad, seeing jin so adoring and soft with yuuji in his arms and kenjaku smiling with clear evidence of the amount of time they spent as kaori (yeah they're addressing wasuke here, but it's framed as them looking over at yuuji), and knowing that it's not real. that it doesn't last much longer.
and wasuke, trying his best to warn/save his only kid from something he doesn't really understand only to be brushed off so easily. it really makes me wonder what he did know at the end of his life that he wanted to tell yuuji.
okay last thing, small thing. i love that the first shot we see is of yuuji from jin's perspective. it could have been from wasuke's to match better with the manga, but this really works to show off just how much jin cared for yuuji, he has eyes for no one else except him. and when it switches to yuuji's perspective, after he opens his eyes, he's looking at jin first. just....·°՞(っ-ᯅ-ς)՞°·.
team sukuna if they were jujutsu sorcerers? :0
